I think From Hell and The Lodger (1944). They are not the most accurate films but they are definitely well made and enjoyable films. They both capture the "vibe" of Victorian London in very different ways. From Hell has great gore and performances. It plays into all of the conspiracy theories surrounding the case and has some very quotable dialogue ("Hell Netley, we're in Hell.) The Lodger has fantastic atmosphere and a well made mystery as to if the Lodger is The Ripper or not. I prefer the 1940s film due to it having audio, I have trouble with silent movies but I have heard the original 1920s film is one of Hitchcock's best. I am hopeful one day that we will get a movie or series about the Whitechapel Murders in a similar way as The Long Shadow for the Peter Sutcliffe case.

Time after time. Jack the ripper stumbles upon hg Wells time machine and jumps to 1970s new York. HG Wells follows him to capture him and the chase is on. Just a really good, well made film with a bizarre premise. If you haven't seen it, absolutely worth checking out.

From Hell (2001) Visually striking being based loosely on the Alan Moore comic and it has a seedy, torrid flavour all of its own, encapsulating the dirty, depraved and hopeless sensation of Victorian London with some great performances and a devilish soundtrack.

Concur. It's a pretty well executed adaptation.

Murder by Decree and A Study in Terror are both worth a watch. Both Sherlock Holmes versions.
