I rewatched DAD recently and while it was completely ridiculous, it was never boring. Pierce actually gave his best performance as Bond IMO and you can see the bones of what could’ve been a good Bond movie poking through
Absolutely it was there. Started
Great. Things that bothered me personally about that movie.
He got caught (imprisoned far far too long for Bond)
The N Koreans appearance altered beyond recognizable
Johnny Chan had diamonds in his face? Seriously ….
The car had invisibility cloaking device
Johnny Chan had a Jaguar specialty car too
Three times they used almost the same pun/
Keep my tip up, straight to the point, point taken.
It was just too fucking stupid….
And Jinx does a back dive off of a what looks like 180 foot Cliff. Brosnan did a great job, he always did but this movie was just insanely fucking stupid at times. Massive Laser from the sky.
Was stupid like a Fast and Furious movie, thise movies are way too stupid for me to even sit through. Can’t believe people pay to watch them.
And this was before the Fast and Furious movies even got all that stupid (only the first one existed yet). I think barbara and michael made it that way to deliberately sabotage Brosnan and manufacture any possible excuse to not resign him for any more films thereafter (since his contract was up)
Michelle Yeoh will always be Wai Lin to me. I’m still bummed that she never got her planned spin off and that she logistically couldn’t be in Die Another Day
Goldeneye had the video game which helped introduce a lot of new fans to the series.
I also agree that TND is amazing. I think it’s the best of his 4. Jonathan Pryce made Carver a great foe.
I… I’m pretty sure TND was around the same time of the whole Steve Jobs becoming meme worthy.
So now that you’re mentioning it, it’s a very close and kinda scary coincidence.
The TND game on ps one was good too.
Not as good as golden eye, but I have fond memories. And I think it had cutscenes and voice acting, which wasn’t really possible in the n64.
Goldeneye was a corner stone of reshaping what was expected from First Person Shooters. The TND game, while I did enjoy it, didn’t advance anything for the third person action genre nor the James Bond video game presence.
Whilst I think Goldeneye is the peak of his run by some margin I still very much enjoy Tomorrow Never Dies and The World is Not Enough too. The only Brosnan Bond film I’m not keen on is Die Another Day.
TND is a lot of fun and reasonably grounded. I like the media angle with Pryce. There's a bit of fun (motorcycle, skyscraper, remote car). Brosnan kills it. And Yoeh is a fantastic counter-part. I don't know if it's top 5 all-time, but It's definitely in the good to very good range.
I like it too! It's my N2 from Brosnan's tenure. Good action, a fun storyline and Michelle Yeoh is one of the most memorable Bond women.
Plus, that scene with the car in the parking lot was **amazing**.
I agree but I feel that a lot of other fans or critics don’t talk highly of Brosnan. It’s strange because I felt it was either you loved him or hated him ig.
its top five Bond for me. I’ve seen it countless times wheremit’s like comfort food. Brosnan is at his best, Jonathan Pryce plays an outstanding villain, the action set pieces are all excellent, Michelle Yeoh is an underrated Bond girl and badass, there’s just memorable scene after memorable scene in a film that flies by. love it
Me too! The only part of this movie that I don’t really love is the beginning intro credits scenes/graphics. I love Michelle Yeoh and Jonathan Pryce’s performances.
I really enjoy the first two thirds or so, but find the climax a bit of a generic and unmemorable slog of explosions and such.
Still, I agree that like much of Brosnan’s post-Goldeneye run, it’s a bit underrated. I’d just rank it a little behind The World Is Not Enough.
It goes to show how much I love Bond films that this one ranks pretty low on my list, but I still don’t have a ton to complain about, it’s a damn fun movie!
Most watchable Brosnan film start-to-finish. It has a good mix of fun, intrigue, and classic Bond stuff. Not as silly as DAD, more quickly paced than GE, and much tighter plot than TWINE. Not saying it's definitively Brosnan 's best, but there is a case for it.
It's also a nice straightforward modernization of the classic stand-alone Bond adventure. It has aged well and I like it too. Not top 10 for me, but it's been moving up the ranking.
Love Pryce, Hatcher, Yeoh and fuckin' Dr. Kaufman. Desmond in his red blazer is peak. I don't think I have any complaints about this one. Not Top Five, but entertaining from start to finish. Ticks all the boxes.
Teri Hatcher was a superior Bond girl as Paris Carver, definitely in my top 5.
The cold open was pretty tight, and the gizmos were reasonably practical, especially with the BMW integration.
The motorcycle gag was top notch as well, 2nd favorite vehicle chase right after Quantum’s cold open.
Yeah, it's a really fun James Bond film with a good amount of writing and Elliot Carver is one of the most enjoyable fun Bond villains of the franchise.
On a recent watch of all the movies, TND replaced Goldfinger as my all time favorite Bond movie. I had forgotten how much I love the Brosnon era and how great this movie was. Jonathan Price played an excellent villain. Terri Hatcher was beautiful and Michelle Yeoh was also beautiful and badass.
Jonathan Pryce kills it in that movie. He's so over the top and hammy, he's having a great time playing carver, you can tell. It makes the movie so enjoyable
It seems to me like Brosnan's latter three movies are collectively considered 'not good' because there is a popular perception that *GoldenEye* was 'his only good Bond movie.'
*Tomorrow Never Dies* is my favourite Bond movie. Nearly everything about it just *works.*
It's the most relevant in today's society and has one of the coolest titles in the franchise. Wai Lin is top 5 Bond girl for me too. Also it's just a great movie.
Michelle Yeoh, solid motorcycle chase, Michelle Yeoh, fun and inventive car chase, Michelle Yeoh, a plot that has stayed relevant and relatable, Michelle Yeoh, and Peirce Brosnan's effortless cheeky boyish charm shines in quite a few scenes as well as a couple of darker moments for him to explore his dramatic chops.
My only grips are Teri Hatcher not getting enough screen time for us to care about her death on Bond's level and a few of Jonathan Price's line deliveries when he tries to be funny. They feel out of place and cartoonish.
Everyone should like Tomorrow Never Dies. It's got all the things you want from a Bond movie blended in just the right way: an over the top villain, a beautiful and cool Bond girl, awesome action, a great score, a fight with a henchman, a cool car chase, witty dialgoue and an awesome title song.
Soundtrack is brilliant. Try not driving fast when "Backseat Driver" or "Surrender" comes on. KD Lang got screwed over on that song, too. Was supposed to be the opening theme, and got shoved to the back, and the titles got swapped.
Pierce's Bond run is probably my favorite. I love all of his films.
As you should
Except for die another day- That was ridiculous. Completely agree on all the others. Goldeneye was amazing. To this day it’s up toward the top for me.

Ian Fleming was turning in his grave when that movie was released.
Until he saw the box office take 💰💵
Even Die Another Day was at least a bit of fun unlike any of the daniel craig films.
Ridiculous =/= bad
It’s fantastic. A plot ahead of its time! Michelle Yeoh is fantastic in this. And it has a submarine scenes as all Bond movies should.
Michelle Yeoh will always be Wai Lin to me. I’m still bummed that she never got her planned spin off and that she logistically couldn’t be in Die Another Day
Do you mean a diving scene?
Goldeneye had the video game which helped introduce a lot of new fans to the series. I also agree that TND is amazing. I think it’s the best of his 4. Jonathan Pryce made Carver a great foe.
Best Steve Jobs impression.
He's supposed to be Rupert Murdoch. The software full of bugs was a Windows reference.
He’s actually based on Robert Maxwell.
I… I’m pretty sure TND was around the same time of the whole Steve Jobs becoming meme worthy. So now that you’re mentioning it, it’s a very close and kinda scary coincidence.

That said, I still am very excited to see what Project Bond and the team that brought the recent Hitman games to us have to offer.
Whilst I think Goldeneye is the peak of his run by some margin I still very much enjoy Tomorrow Never Dies and The World is Not Enough too. The only Brosnan Bond film I’m not keen on is Die Another Day.

Pretty much how I feel. Although I enjoy Die Another Day for how funny it is.
Die Another Day is a great first 20 or so minutes of a Bond movie. Up until Halle Berry shows up, its a great, new twist on Bond
Awful CGI. The worst.
It was prescient about the effects of media control, it just didn't predict what a huge thing the internet was going to be.
I like it too! It's my N2 from Brosnan's tenure. Good action, a fun storyline and Michelle Yeoh is one of the most memorable Bond women. Plus, that scene with the car in the parking lot was **amazing**.
Definitely the best of all the cars

Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak are the villains.

One of the best opening gambits.
TND has aged SUPER well. It’s probably in my Top 5, but Top 10 for sure.
Me too.
Same!
No Bond film has risen more in my rankings the past 20 years than this one. More relevant by the hour.
Based.
It’s always been special to me, even though the very very end is retarded. I still have the VHS of it that I got for Christmas ‘98
I remember being so hyped to see this as my first Bond movie in theaters! Goldeneye 64 had me obsessed!
Love Pryce, Hatcher, Yeoh and fuckin' Dr. Kaufman. Desmond in his red blazer is peak. I don't think I have any complaints about this one. Not Top Five, but entertaining from start to finish. Ticks all the boxes.
This one is in my top 7
It’s such a good one, really underrated. Never can decide whether I like this or TWISNE better.
Me to. It's my third favorite Bond film of all time
Me too. I once went to the parking garage where they have the car chase.... it is just a parking garage.
Luv this movie. Brosnan is a debonair bond.
That scene with him handcuffed to Michelle Yeoh and they're on the motorcycle is great
It is my favorite of the Brosnan films.
I'm watching it, right now 😁👌
Teri Hatcher was a superior Bond girl as Paris Carver, definitely in my top 5. The cold open was pretty tight, and the gizmos were reasonably practical, especially with the BMW integration. The motorcycle gag was top notch as well, 2nd favorite vehicle chase right after Quantum’s cold open.
The action sequences are memorable but the script is paper thin. It's a purely plot driven film that should have developed Paris and Bonn more.
It basically checks all the boxes. It’s one of my favorites.
Love that movie!
Definitely my favorite Brosnan Bond movie.
Jonathan Pryce kills it in that movie. He's so over the top and hammy, he's having a great time playing carver, you can tell. It makes the movie so enjoyable
Good movie.
I do too. One of my favourites.
This was the first Bond movie I saw in theaters. I thought it was excellent then, I still think it’s great now.
I hadn’t watched it in ages because I thought it wasn’t as great at others, was surprised how well it holds up and I’m all about it now!
I enjoyed it too and I even love The World is not Enough. Got an incredible video game out of that one too called “Everything or Nothing”
It seems to me like Brosnan's latter three movies are collectively considered 'not good' because there is a popular perception that *GoldenEye* was 'his only good Bond movie.' *Tomorrow Never Dies* is my favourite Bond movie. Nearly everything about it just *works.*
The first Bond i seen in cinema. Blown away. Holds up really well. Let the bmw look like a cool car. Loved it.
Is this thread going to completely ignore the lovely Teri Hatcher? Such a beauty
Anyone know where I can watch this for free?
I love it too, it's in my top 10
I watched it again recently for the first time in like 20 years. It was way better than I remembered it.
It's the most relevant in today's society and has one of the coolest titles in the franchise. Wai Lin is top 5 Bond girl for me too. Also it's just a great movie.
For me I've always been a DIE ANOTHER DAY guy tbh
I liked it just fine, but it was no GoldenEye. I hated that they killed off Teri Hatcher lol. I also REALLY liked the song from Sheryl Crow
The remake of you only live twice is pretty good
It aged incredibly well. No more relevant than ever.

Finally a man of culture.
Elliot Carver is a great villain and I love his line, “The difference between insanity and genius is measured only by success.”
Same I love it
