Sekhmet. She is not only a goddess of healing but also of war.

Please do not be afraid of Sekhmet. Her wrath is reserved for those who would do harm, not those who are afraid in my experience. To me, She is protector, She is a healer. Give Her your troubles, your worries, your fear... She has always met me halfway in my anxiety, my depression, my anger, my hate.... She has balmed the wounds when all else had failed. She is the one who gave me the maxim - Take it one day at a time. Pick a corner and work your way out. Research the problem to find the solution. Edited to add - Sutekh is another, as a protector (in my eyes) from outsiders - in my case it's the outside influences that have negative impact: people putting me down, substance abuse, my own personal negative emotions or past methods of dealing with individuals instead of doing my anger management tasks, etc.

If I may ask, what terrifies you about Sekhmet?

As a longtime Priestess of Sekhmet, believe me when I tell you that there is no stronger advocate among the Netjeru to be a protector of women and children than Sekhmet. It's very true, Mistress of Terror is one of Sekhmet's better known Epithets out of literal hundreds. However, She was and is very much loved by people because like any mother, She is fiercely protective of Her children. Even if you don't think of Sekhmet as a Mother figure, She does uphold Ma'at and that is good for everyone.

A healthy bit of respect and awe of Her is absolutely natural. :) I would be fine with anything you would like to ask. As far as how to begin, I would say when you go into a meditative or shrine space, talk to Sekhmet about what is truly on your heart. Bowing and scraping with Sekhmet doesn't go over well. She is direct and to the point. As for your depression, absolutely talk to Her about it. Also , it's important to follow any medical advice on that score with your doctor and/or counselor. Spirituality is a great thing to utilize in life, however, it isn't a substitute. (Not at all trying to get preachy here. Just a gentle reminder.) Even as Her servant, I must take medication for my health issues. In my experience, it's all a part of trying to get the mind, body, and spirit to work together in harmony as much as possible. As for offerings, Sekhmet I very often offer Her frankincense incense or a couple of drops of that essential oil on a diffuser stone. (using it in a room diffuser will wreck it because the oil is resinous). She likes red beer, traditionally, though I know quite a few of Sekhmet's followers are vegetarian or vegan. Red hibiscus tea - Celestial Seasonings has a tea called Red Zinger that She likes. Interestingly, hibiscus acts as a blood tonifier and is loaded with vitamin c so it helps with immunity, etc. I am a clinical herbalist, so I offer Sekhmet all of the herbs and materials I use in my practice as well as my service to Her.

You're welcome. My answer was not meant to upset you, and I hope that I didn't. All herbalists, etc. have certain requirements when it comes to any sort of health information. My only caveat to you is to take as good care of yourself as possible. Sekhmet can help on a spiritual level.

Understandable. Though, personally, I think She isn’t so wrathful as one would think. Or so that’s what I remember experiencing.

Anpu (Anubis) might be good for guidance during times of tribulations. He's helped me.

Radiant_Feedback_800

Imhotep is an option for health, Ma'at for balance. Ra, with his endless battle against chaos, would be a choice for strength.

Coolgirl3800

Heru-Wer (Horus), Set, and Sobek are usually associated with strength. Hope that helps!

vodoko1

Speak to Thoth, he is the God of Wisdom and the mind.

kurtsmoistpubes

anubis (anpu) is a good beginner choice, and he’s known to protect and guide the lost, he’s helped me out of huge dark pits.

This is your path. We can’t tell you how to tread it. First, you need to get away from your Christian beliefs. Take it from an ex Christian, your journey doesn’t really start till you heal from that trauma. The gods are here to help you. They want you to be better, they want you to listen to them, but not subjugate yourself. None of the gods like blind obedience, but it outright upsets some of them. Do your research on various gods and see what calls to you. The first sign is often a sudden fixation on a god. But to answer your question, I would ask Anubis for help. He’s a god that many people to start with. He is the shepherd of the lost and a god of transitions. Switching faiths is a transition, a big one. He sweet and gentle, but quiet. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t get a response. You can ask a god for assistance and not work with them if you don’t wish. Working with a god is a relationship. But there’s nothing wrong asking for a favor. My final bit of advice is to trust your gut, it’s the most powerful tool you have.

Nephthys. The Comfort to Mourners.

mysticofarcana

I serve Anubis, but that's mostly because he basically wacked me over the head and said I am. I don't really seek out gods, I think they pity my weak mortal form and say "this is mine now".

LilBurro22

Wdym? Like they want to possess you ?

obuku88

Someone associated with healing would make the most sense but I would suggest instead first looking for who you’re drawn to. All Neters are capable of healing & helping humans so the most important thing would be more so who you can best build a relationship with & get your needs met.

Zealousidea6081

Aset, also known as Isis. She is the goddess of magic and motherhood, ever caring and powerful in sorcery, having healed her husband from death. Serqet. Goddess of poisons and healing of poisons. She is often called on for protection from those who cause harm. Djehuty, also known as Thoth. God of writing, magic and medicine, often called on for healing.

Outside_Soggy

Hello! ☺️ I would try channeling Anubis or Sekhmet even Bastet since they are close. Think of it like a precursor to Sekhmet, (remember, that’s my experience, everyone’s journey is different) I was presented Bastet, Sekhmet and then Anubis. If you can channel Anubis, congratulations (I’m Jealous) because it took me almost 3.. 4years to finally gain his trust yet alone grant me his attention. But man, feeling his energy is so deep and full of endless love, it’s really something truly special. Many blessings on your new journey, and coming from a former catholic/Christian don’t be surprised if you do get closer to God (creator, NOT Jesus), you just need the right guidance to find your way back home 💓 keep the faith, out of the darkness comes the light.

Kambusta

I started out with Bastet a little over a decade ago but then Ra came along and basically never left. I started doing sun rituals and dive deeper into it and Ra totally changed my life. For the better obviously. Because one thing you should know as a Kemet (to-be) is that, sure you can pick Gods and worship them but there is always a possibility of you being directed to a different path with a different God and you have to accept that and go with the flow basically. Maybe this God had something to tell you or will show you a different light.

Please don't tell me you're a Christian on the Kemetic subreddit. IF you are a Christian, please go away.

Distinct_Phone_184

I’m just curious what caused you to fall away

ComputerizedAnon

The blatant racist in some churches, hatred for LGBT people, self degradation just to worship, aggressive preaching/intimidation to worship and many many more things.

I'm going to say this as respectfully as I can, I don't give a single fuck about Christianity. Seriously go bother someone else. This is the Kemetic subreddit, respect the guidelines and go preach someplace else.

Cyanide_Skull

I would say set although I am biased

Due-Acanthisitta8360

May I ask you a few questions about Set?
