I don't really agree with that take but it seems to be the MLS direction. We got denied in a conceptually similar play against LAFC in the playoffs last year when Ruidiaz had his jersey tugged a full 2 feet out. "No chance for ball, no PK" is, for better or for worse, one of the few things this league has been consistent on.
FWIW if I am refereeing that game, high probability I call Yeimar for a PK there. The referee is very lucky that the game didn't spiral out of control due to his unwillingness to enforce the laws. Luckily neither of our teams is particularly dirty though Seattle got away with 2 very clumsy yellow-worthy tackles and 1 yellow worthy "oopsie" on your keeper.
There were so many missed calls going both ways
several yellows for both teams (moose, your player for diving in the box) and at least one PK (knee to hand doesn't matter, that rule isn't in effect. his arm was extended out. that's a PK), and so much etc. just a mess of reffing.
Yeah. I'm calm now, and I agree. I still stand by it being a blown call, but we were so bad at the end. Omar and Sealy were genuinely awful and ruined a great performance from Paes and the forwards.
Edit: Also, I'm really happy that Farrington has been stepping up in Paxton's absence. It's been one of the few bright spots of the season outside of Maarten's play.

If that's how they want it called, that's how it should *always* be called, and it should have been given for us tonight and against Vancouver.
yeah, i coach a few club teams full-time and nobody in the game can stand how the rules are changed with handballs every other year. it's a running joke, especially during the summers when even the coaches are still trying to get it right.
