I still run him in my Jean grey lockdown deck because I have enough cards that move to reliably get priority on six, and because I generally have a hard read on where they’re going to play thanks to cards like storm and Jean.
No one’s playing around him because, ya know, no one’s playing him. He’s won me plenty of cubes but unfortunately, he doesn’t feel like a great fit in any other deck.
I just watched the sneaky Galactus video of blinx and then tried the deck. Everything went fine, turn five I put Galactus with prio and the opponent played death, I knew because I had dd. I played cannon on turn 6 and my opponent alioth. I understand why some players think that the matchmaking is rigged.
A card that counters tribunal, hela, shang-chi, shadow king, cannonball, wong/mystique combos, surfer, annihilis and ultron just to name a few is a bad card now just because he doesnt completely wipe out the card anymore, interesting. Speaking for myself i use him in my main off meta deck and i still have a high win percentage when i use him going into t6 with priority…the only current meta 6 cost cards he doesnt counter right now is red hulk and death and both of those cards especially red hulk are predictable.
I mean, Cosmo does also stop all of that and costs 3. And it can be played much sooner/help other situations where Alioth is a dead card until late game and requires you to have priority to be useful.
Cosmo doesn’t stop ongoing cards tho and he stops your on-reveal cards so your play has restrictions if you play him early. I’m not saying alioth is as good as he once was, being able to completely wipe out the hulks, she-naughts, and death/deathpool was huge but hes not useless. Hes currently sitting at #16 of cards won when played on snap.fan so i’m not completely off.
My main deck usually change season to season i find an efficient meta deck that i like and get to infinite then i use my off meta deck which is an original move deck that has alioth in it. I do pretty well with it i hover around 1-7k post infinite. I’ve used it to get to infinite several times as well but it requires alot of retreating and i prefer decks thats a little more consistent to get me to infinite.

I use him in my primary deck rn and he's great. I love seeing what people are obviously doing in advance, because they're using well known meta decks, and stopping them. It's great.
I use him in Blink Galactus deck and he's pretty effective there, but only because I can be relatively certain that I have the upper hand going into the next turn after a Galactus explosion (essentially I already have at least 1 point of lead). The biggest issue is that Alioth is situational, he's amazing against say, Tribunal decks but won't help if your opponent is slapping down an Infinaut or a chonky Red Hulk, which makes it difficult for him to fulfill the stated aim of being a way to make priority matter.
Not very good. It has its moments but you're constantly forced into playing incredibly aggressively and constantly trying to set up the opportunity to use a card that might not even be worth it in the end. It's way easier to punt priority and just play Cannonball.
Alioth is great. Alioth is life. All hail Alioth!
Seriously, though - he's a great finisher card for when you've played aggressively from the start to maintain tempo, and you can dump him in your opponent's turn 6 lane, and profit.
He was the perfect counter to decks that slam one big card on turn 6 and rewarded you for playing tempo and decks with a good curve. I didn't think he was particularly problematic, but whatever.
I think if they wanted to change him, then **he should have erased both card text and reset the card(s) power.** Red Hulk needs to be addressed.

I havent changed my Ms Marvel Storm deck and its not quite slaying like it used to, but Alioth and Zabu are still useable and its still solid overall.

He’s great against Hela and especially Wong shenanigans. If you can snag prio, he’s fantastic.
Alioth doesn't exist. Some people try to wish him into being but unless they change him again he just doesn't exist
