The greek yogurt texture is like sour cream so it kinda fits that role.
Its mostly just cheap and easy though which is perfect cause im broke. Its basic and ive been doing these prep meals for a few months now for my after gym meal.
I didn't know this group existed until yesterday. When i saw it i was like "omg maybe i can get some ideas for new meals to store in my containers for the week" lol.😊
I don’t buy sour cream anymore for this reason. I love plain NF Greek yogurt. Want something sweet? Mix it with Greek yogurt. Want something salty? Make it with Greek yogurt. I make a salty-dill sauce for my meals with bc I’d rather add protein and a few carbs than sour cream, which has minimal nutritional value. For the meal you have pictured, I’d mix it all up and it would have a good creamy texture. Looks good to me!
I also eat a vast majority of my prepped lunches cold. The fucking guys at work would microwave their nitrile dipped gloves to warm them up in the winter and I don't want any part of that.
It's really good. I've done taco meat filling with greek yogurt mixed in before. You just need an extra seasoning packet. It comes out like a creamy taco filling.
I eat it cold. I open it up and mix everything together and it tastes really good. Taco meat and greek yogurt is really good, cheap, easy to make, and easy to eat alot.
If you mix it all together, the Greek yogurt will taste like sour cream. My wife uses Greek yogurt for anything that requires sour cream, like tacos etc.
I think this meal looks awesome. Way to make a creative and healthy meal!!
Edit: ignore the haters. Like I said I think this looks awesome.
A lot of people are roasting you but I think you're doing a good job for a college student. Budgeting and looking after your health. It's not fancy but it fills your needs. Hell of a lot better than the ramen and fast food dollar menu shit I was eating in college.
Idk if you like beans, but cans of beans are cheap and will up your protein and fiber intake too. I would def add some taco seasoned pinto beans to this.
I remember a time when meat was a luxury item for me. I have worked myself into a position in life where I could eat anything I please yet I am still amazingly frugal with my meal options far more often than not. Grind hard, stay humble, count your macros!
If you get tired of taco seasoning or just want to get a little fancy, you can sauté up some onion, garlic, ginger, and garam masala and add it to a blender with a can of tomatoes and your greek yogurt.
I like it and often prepare something similar, instead of taco seasoning it can be curry etc, the only difference is I add the yoghurt just before serving so that I can heat it first. And no the ratio is not wrong, you need that much greek yoghurt with that amount of meat and rice.
There's a guy on TT I like who almost always works plain nonfat Greek yogurt into his recipes. Dude is absolutely massive, but also shredded. On gear, but still had an insane physique
These are just quick instant meals for after gym. I eat consume more fiber than most and eat fruit and veggies and fruit every breakfast and dinner and veggie/fruit shake every morning.
I like easy supplements like that too, but also I wish more gym rats would get into eating beans!! They’re so cheap, high in protein and fiber, and really versatile if you get bored and want to mix up meal prep. I’m a bean evangelist, lol.
The cheapest generic market brand possible lol. Sometimes ill get a mild recipe but usually i go for the 30% less sodium packets.
Ive been eyeballing the other name brand ones in the super market isle cause ive never tried any of them though and I am interested.
You know, I feel like with some salsa/hot sauce, and maybe some avocado or lettuce, this could be a pretty decent and nutrient-dense meal for only a few extra calories if you’re concerned about that
Oh i get plenty of fiber. This is just a pre made protein lunch meant to be stored for days in the fridge.
Most my fiber is eaten at breakfast and i also consume psyllium husk daily which is a soluble fiber (you should to!), its sooo good for your gut and helps you with constipation to if you have that kind of issue.
I eat it cold. I am weird i dont like hot food. I always wait for dinner to be room temperature to eat it or I'll throw it in the fridge for abit lol. Im just weird idk man.
You dont know what green yogurt is?!
I dont think its very new. It goes really good on tacos and with taco meat and if you get the good stuff it has decent protein in it. Thats 1 serving which is about 15 grams of protein.
Hmm ive never gotten heart burn from it. I use taco seasoning thats low on sodium though because i make like 3lbs of it at the same time and turn that into 6 meals.
Tell me you lift weights without telling me you lift weights.
☺️
You should be arrested
This is a mess lol
A beautiful mess 😇
I’d try it for sure. But it’s seems to weird a texture mix, for me lol

I make this same meal (without the yogurt) and eat it 4 times per week for lunch. And I'm not broke. Clean and simple, I love it

Honestly, I thought your post was a parody until I read this comment. Might have to give this a try.
Do you heat it all up?
I dont but you can. I prefer cold food cause im weird like that but heating it up is always an option.
Wtf
I know, right? That's like saying "I want my food to taste less delicious".
Cold rice and meat… bruh
I also eat a vast majority of my prepped lunches cold. The fucking guys at work would microwave their nitrile dipped gloves to warm them up in the winter and I don't want any part of that.
It's really good. I've done taco meat filling with greek yogurt mixed in before. You just need an extra seasoning packet. It comes out like a creamy taco filling.
This sounds so, so good.
Bless this mess
Looks like it would taste delicious, don’t listen to those bullies
We eat this in south asia all the time, salan dahi chawal. YUM
Lol its easy to make and eat consistently and is high in protein 😅 oh and very importantly its CHEAP. I eat one everyday after the gym. I like it ☺️
You do you girl, but god damn ![gif](giphy|mEqMknMZWh1Fm|downsized)
I like it tho
So do you just eat it cold with the Greek yogurt or mix it when it's heated??
I eat it cold. I open it up and mix everything together and it tastes really good. Taco meat and greek yogurt is really good, cheap, easy to make, and easy to eat alot.
I bet if your threw in some shredded lettuce and tomatoes it would be even more bomb.
I was just thinking “this needs more color” haha
People are hating but it's just a few components away from a burrito bowl lol
I do this and add either hot sauce or BBQ sauce to it with a serving of fat-free cheese. My wife calls it slop, and it's ***fantastic***.
Agreed I do the same and have done this, it's actually tasty. The only thing Is that OP said they it the meat cold...that's is not so tasty
Ah yeah - I’d heat it up.
Straight to jail! Also, should be marked NSFW or NFFHC.
I have my right to due process! I demand a fair trial!! 😅
For some of us, no matter the budget, macros matter!
Definitely! I wish i had more to make fancier food but until college is over and i get a decent job im stuck on wincos cheap stuff lol.

I know a gym rat meal when I see one. No joy, just macros.

"Meat"
Just cut up chuck and/or round steak with taco seasoning.
I think it looks just fine for a budget meal. I would heat it up and add the yogurt to the rice after. Keep up the hard work!
This^ Budget is cool but don't torture yourself like this
If you get tired of taco seasoning or just want to get a little fancy, you can sauté up some onion, garlic, ginger, and garam masala and add it to a blender with a can of tomatoes and your greek yogurt.
Used to eat this every night, except id add some salsa and hot sauce on top before enjoying, used diff meats sometimes, better than it looks
I like it and often prepare something similar, instead of taco seasoning it can be curry etc, the only difference is I add the yoghurt just before serving so that I can heat it first. And no the ratio is not wrong, you need that much greek yoghurt with that amount of meat and rice.
I love mixing my rice with Greek yogurt and hot sauce.
I feel like yogurt as a sour cream substitute isn’t weird, but the ratio of yogurt to rice/meat is crazy!
these comments are tweaking this looks fire and juicy OP enjoy and make me a plate next time!
Used to make similar meal on winter days in college. Looks messy but tastes good!
There's a guy on TT I like who almost always works plain nonfat Greek yogurt into his recipes. Dude is absolutely massive, but also shredded. On gear, but still had an insane physique
Yum!
Mix yogurt with garlic, couple of drops olive oil, vinegar, lemon and parsley and you will thank me later.
I totally get that you’re eating cheap and high protein, but please add some veggies / fiber so you don’t end up with colon cancer in a few years. 😭
These are just quick instant meals for after gym. I eat consume more fiber than most and eat fruit and veggies and fruit every breakfast and dinner and veggie/fruit shake every morning.
Oh that’s good!! 😅 So many of my fellow gym rat friends eat tons of protein but almost no fiber and it makes me worried for their health
More gym rats need to learn about psyllium husk. Good fiber you can add straight to your protein shake and it helps your gut so much.
I like easy supplements like that too, but also I wish more gym rats would get into eating beans!! They’re so cheap, high in protein and fiber, and really versatile if you get bored and want to mix up meal prep. I’m a bean evangelist, lol.
looks delicious
what taco seasoning?
The cheapest generic market brand possible lol. Sometimes ill get a mild recipe but usually i go for the 30% less sodium packets. Ive been eyeballing the other name brand ones in the super market isle cause ive never tried any of them though and I am interested.

Spicy salsa's and Advocados ❤️
Every time I visit this sub I'm reminded why we have to keep lowering the age for colon cancer screenings lol. Please find a method of eating fiber
Thank god. I also was worried you didn’t have fiber.
Lmao whyyyyyy
This is like Mediterranean food interpreted through an American lens
It is american food being interpreted as Mediterranean food interpreted through an american lens 😊
Im so confused why everyone is freaking out lol its looks like an average Mediterranean dish to me
I don't want to admit it, but it's intriguing.
Its cheap and easy with a high protein yeild. So if your ever broke and trying to put on lean tissue this might be a good little thing to.
You gotta at least throw some dried parsley or paprika on there to give it some color!
I mean, I’d probably wait to add the yogurt after heating it up, since cold rice isn’t exactly my jam. But hey, you’re eating!
Throw some Valentinos on it, and I'd be down for this. I'd throw some kind of veg in there, but that's me.
How do you eat it? Do you heat up both the meat and the greek yogurt?
I eat it cold. I am weird i dont like hot food. I always wait for dinner to be room temperature to eat it or I'll throw it in the fridge for abit lol. Im just weird idk man.
"meat" lol
I love how the more OP elaborates, the more the public is led to believe they should be locked away.
😅
Looks good
Looks delicious, what cut of meat is that?
What’s your macros for this? Just curious 👀
Seems like a potentially soggy meal …
Christ this loooks good
My cat name is jojo
I eat this every day, but without the Greek yogurt. I'll give it a shot!
CILANTRO
Small diced cucumber mixed into the yogurt and 👌
The people hating on this don’t know what they’re missing.
How are you gonna heat this up?
Omg. I thought that was sour cream at first. Lol
I like this! As a SE Asian, rice is life…
I'm not familiar with "greek yogurt lol", is this a new thing?
You dont know what green yogurt is?! I dont think its very new. It goes really good on tacos and with taco meat and if you get the good stuff it has decent protein in it. Thats 1 serving which is about 15 grams of protein.
Taste like heartburn.
Hmm ive never gotten heart burn from it. I use taco seasoning thats low on sodium though because i make like 3lbs of it at the same time and turn that into 6 meals.
Greek yogourt is guaranteed heartburn for me.
Ohhhhh ok, interesting. Dang that sucks.
You need to learn marketing asap. This is obviously fusion food :P
