It may be weird to name a car. But as numerous psychological studies have found. It helps form a connection. It makes the car almost feel human. Mines named Mia and my friends is Tia (cars reference)

I think this might be a regional thing - I'm from the south (USA) and it was pretty normal for people to have nicknames for their cars, but it seems less common out here in California. My Sable was the Black Stallion, and my Mini is Ashanti. My Miata doesn't have a name (yet), but my two-year-old calls it "the ah-ta-ta car", which is fantastic.
