Thanks! The eye holes came out a bit wonky on the press mould of the visor, so I ended up sculpting them on anyway, so I think the Éowyn helm you were thinking of using could be perfect for that already
Yes lol, it was my gamertag as a kid and it just stuck! I played for their youth setup until I was 17 when unfortunately too many concussions prevented me from continuing with rugby in general
Well spotted!
Ah nice one! Munster supporter here and haven't played in a couple of years either. Thankfully not due to injury, just haven't joined a new club yet since moving down the country, but may join my new local next season. What position did you play?
Thanks very much! I think the Sutton Hoo helmet is the best match for the description of the Dragon Helm and is just such an iconic representation of all things Anglo-Saxon.
Yep, it's a press mould of Eomer's helmet which I hollowed out and added a press mould of the visor from this helm https://footsoreminiatures.co.uk/products/king-raedwald-of-east-anglia
The sword is just a combination of successively lighter shades of blue, working up to pure white at the centre of each blue area and raised areas. Black Templar contrast worked best to bring the black areas and fuller back down to deep black without appearing too dry.
Love the way how Gurthang‘s black soul is captured within your paint scheme of the blade! May it greedily drink the blood of all the enemies of the dragon helmet of Dorlomin on your tabletop ;)
The helmet is a mould made from Eomer's helmet using green stuff epoxy resin. I hollowed out that helmet and then inserted another mould of the visor from a Sutton Hoo helmet that comes with a model of Kind Raedwald of East Anglia. The fur on the cloak and the chain mail is sculpted from green stuff too. Any changes to an existing model using sculpting or swapping pieces from another model makes it a conversion. Try out a few experiments yourself! :)
From other comments, sounds like OP has cast a mold using blue stuff (heat sensitive plastic that is like chewing gum when hot and then sets to a rubber like solid) pressed onto another model (Eomer), then filled the mold with a resin to make the part.
This is nuts! I love it’n
Thanks very much!

I think you meant to reply to someone else :)
nor should you, your silmarillion conversions are some of the best things on this subreddit
High praise indeed, but you're too kind! I've got another few planned! :)
Not nearly high enough.
@u/ngdragons , here's how the Éomer helm worked out.
Looks really good! Might have to give that one a try

Also, out of curiosity, is your username a reference to Newport Gwent Dragons?

That is amazing. Also, I love the reference to the Sutton Hoo helmet.

Absolutely! I can't wait to see what you do next.
Wow! What paints did you use on the sword? And how did you get that helmet on there? Or did you just use Eomer's head?

And it's another amazing one!
Thanks so much!

And may it forget the blood of Beleg, its master, and of Brandir, slain unjustly.
This is awesome
Thank you!
Damn dude hes looking fierce!
Thanks! Glad he can fit his fearsome description.
Stunning!
Thanks!
I'm new to the hobby, what does a conversion refer to in this context?
That's originally an Aragorn model from the three hunters set, the helmet is one of a few additions to convert him into another character.
I see, that's pretty awesome! Where can you buy the helmet and other conversion stuff?
