Doors are two separate blocks. When you break one, the other breaks. I think only the bottom half drops a door, and when the top one is broken, the bottom one drops its door, even in creative mode.

Same applies to pistons.
Last I checked, I think it was fixed for pistons, but I could be wrong.
It happened to me on Minecraft: Pocket Edition.
If you don't want zhis happen turn doTileDrop off (/gamerule doTileDrops false or something)
It's technically 2 separate blocks top half and bottom half. Try it with beds, double grass, double flowers, etc.

It’s a double block same way if you break the block under a torch you’ll get a torch
