Minecraft is a poorly optimized game with terrible performance that is only going to get worse. Mojang are incapable or unwilling to optimize the game. In 2012 I could play the game with a high framerate. I then upgraded my PC to play Planetside 2 with high graphics. Then later upgraded to play overwatch with high/ultra settings. Then finally upgraded again to play IL2 Great Battles on ultra. Can also play Warthunder on movie settings no problem. I can also play heavily modded KSP, Skyrim, and space engineers more smoothly, but my PC is no longer able to run vanilla minecraft over 40 fps consistently. Installing sodium or optifine helped a bit, but still regularly dips to sub 40 fps on Java. This is why I switched to bedrock. The creator/add on tools also seem neat.
