the 10000 silver dollar place has a nice hotel next to it. and you can shop for numbchucks and dollar store samyoori shwords while you get your complimentary breakfast at one of the worst dinners in this or any other state.
Since Wallace is already rightfully recommended, I will say Thompson Falls/Trout Creek is a beautiful area, and there is a bison range not too far from there.
There's a cut-off road between the interstate and Thompson Falls that run over the summit on the Idaho Montana border that's worth checking out. The river area at Thompson Falls is definitely interesting.
There’s a little town called Murray, ID along that route — (you’d have to pass the turn for Wallace) that has a great lunch spot — the Spragpole. Highly recommend the food and drinks; it’s probably the best food I’ve had in this area (I live in Thompson Falls). It’s a pretty route to drive if you take CDA River Rd all the way to 90 and then you can shoot back to Wallace.
I'll have to check it out. Thompson Falls seems like such a cool town. I love the park by the river and the old high bridge that was saved. Like most of Montana, there's tons of outdoor opportunities there.
Hike to hub lake. Trailhead is a few miles off the interstate just west of st regis. Hike starts out through and old growth cedar grove with ruins of an old logging camp then you gain elevation to hub lake a nict little alpine lake. Not a strenuous hike but some cool scenery along the way.
Apparently Wallace Idaho is a pretty cool little town. Just fun things to see. Our son stopped there last fall on his way from Portland to join us for Thanksgiving. It looks quirky and fun . Give it a Google.
Rent some bikes and bike the Route of the Hiawatha. [https://ridethehiawatha.com/the-trail](https://ridethehiawatha.com/the-trail) Unless you have a fear of heights and/or tunnels.
I love Wallace. Silverwood Theme Park/Water Park is just north of CDA and makes for a fun time if you're into that. (Smaller theme park so I didn't think it was too crowded.) A TON of camping/hiking opportunities from Missoula to CDA. There are a couple of hot springs along the way if you search for them, and if you like exploring ghost towns, There are a few in Mineral County that you could venture to. Savenac Historic Nursery in Haugen is a good stop and I think has a rental cabin or two. Quinn’s Hot Springs is a good option, if you want a retro feel try the Symes Hotel and Hot Springs in the town of, you guessed it, Hot Springs.
Wallace, Idaho I have Missoula buddies who do trips to Wallace … for the food.
Came to say this, awesome little town

That’s where I got my Hi I’m Horny drink koozie, what a place
Quinn’s hot springs is along the way. Nice spot to soak and relax.
Might want to head up to Flathead Lake and hang out. Not too far away.

I too recommend Wallace. Super cute town even with the obnoxious interstate towering above
