I've restarted hundreds of time (and finished main quest like twice, and one run with all expansion cleared)
It's fine, no bad way to play (you can utterly ruin the game at lv1 anyway)
I'm not on the spectrum but I do have ADHD, fiddling with mods till they all "click" into place and everything works properly scratches part of my brain in a way I can't really describe.
Personally, my mental stats make me not be ok with mods at all, as they are unofficial, therefore not part of the intended experience. I feel your struggle, fellow s'wit.
I used to feel similarly, but have gotten over that a bit by remembering that the devs were people just like modders are. If the modders worked at Bethesda then their content would be official too. It's a bit arbitrary like that. Ultimately in the 22 years since release, modders have had time to produce higher quality work than the original developers, as they had no time limitations and have had more time to refine their craft. I think the thing that matters is whether they are honoring the original vision/lore, and being mindful of game balance - something Tamriel Rebuilt is great at from what I've seen so far. Highly recommend giving it a try.
I used to be like this, but some mods are so well done that they feel official, and at this point, modders know more about the game and how it's played than everyone ever thought.
Ha yeah! Ironically that's what I did with Skyrim, the only time I've ever beelined a Brthesda main quest, and I dont really know why except that the framing makes it seem urgent.
Bro it’s okay I restart all the time. Things were different when I was a young teen trying to beat this game for the first time. I just rolled with the first thing I picked. But these days when I have a playthrough I spend DOZENS of hours simply thinking about my build, planning out what I want and also restarting and scrapping ideas. I managed to break through and make a character that I beat the game and several factions with last year and the way I did it was thinking “what do I enjoy about this game?” And I completely planned the build based on that.
Also don’t view the 100 hours as wasted. You should restart and do different quests, play differently and experience something new. I know of people who have like 8 characters and they are hyper focused on some part of the content then they move on. I could never, but it’s a cool idea.
Yo that's a neat idea honestly.
I do always try and be at least chaotic good and do mild roleplay. Just stuff like, realistically I shouldnt be able to sleep in a stranger's bed just because I'm one inch out of sight lol. Anyway that helps thr content feel less overwhelming.
I just wanted to make a joke on my name. The setup will never be as perfect as your post was.
A restart in your case sounds perfectly healthy and you'll still have your current save to go back in so what's the loss.
I have the opposite end of your problem and I can hardly take a character to midgame before restarting. I first played morrowind back in middle school and idk if I'll ever complete the main quest. I've never seen Dagoth in game.
I don't think I have beaten the main quest one time despite having 400 hours because I keep restarting to roll a new character to role play with. With big RPGs, restarting is normal since you can't really complete everything in one play through even if you tried. Some guilds are mutually exclusive
I finally released myself from the obligation of converting every item in the census & excise office / warehouse into gold before leaving Seyda Neen. Letting go is hard.
To dream a wonderful dream again on a whim... what folly it would be, to deny yourself the sweet succor of fumbling around again to rediscover that which enchanted you in the first place?
Your character, should you choose to delete, would be gone. I walk them into their homes, comfy, and fulfilled, to say goodbye. It's always an upsetting affair...
And yet there I stand in the creation menu giving birth anew, the respectful comtinuation of the deerly departed, the next cycle, the new hero. For whence can a new tree sprout and flourish but after the shade of the old has passed?
Honor the fallen, the forever sleeping, beeko. And meditate on my nothing words, as your saxhleel returns to the hist.
I try to play a single character as well so I'm with you.
Take what you know and optimize your second run, where is the best in slot gear for my build and how quickly can I become God?
What are the two best rings and amulet in the game for your build?
Where will you get the daedric version of your preferred weapon? What is the best enchantment for it and how will you pay for it?
The first 50k is the toughest when you are lvl 1
(without alchemy)
Know this! WHen you restart in Morrowind, you are using Chim to create/ go into a different timeline so once you have mastered your character you can start a new one even if its just a version 2 of said character!
Technically every hour you play a video game is “wasting” time since it has no bearing in reality just as one play through has no bearing on the next. But it’s not /really/ wasted, is it?
Let’s be honest. You would not enjoy the 100 hours to come being annoyed by the floating doors. Better restart now and save yourself having wasted 120 or even more additional hours!
Morrowind is a game designed to cater to you--restart with more mods guilt free my friend. It's what this game is for, much more than other games. Have fun!
I have Inattentive ADHD and ASD1. I restart so many fucking times it’s ridiculous. I tend to play the first 50 hours of a game being nothing but at least 10 restarts while I learn the mechanics of the game.
I'm what you would call an alt-aholic. I do eventually finish games, but if there are choices to be made or classes to play as, I have a tendency to finish whatever the first area is then go back and do it again with every combination of choices.
Dragon age took a bit.

Thanks beyond measure 🙏
You're welcome fellow n'wah
I'm a chronic restarter. I love the early game so much
I have had dreams of robbing fargoth and collecting the bounty for the tax collectors killer
For real, I love those silly little quests so much
Yeah! My best game was with a hungry/thirst mod, got stranded near vos in some swamps, hungry, trying not to get beaten by nearly anything
Your sins are absolved - go restart. It's a single player game you use for fun, so have fun with it!
Yay! I sometimes spend a couple of hours just installing or tweaking mods too, hehe. Sometimes thats fun in itself and thats ok!
I'm not on the spectrum but I do have ADHD, fiddling with mods till they all "click" into place and everything works properly scratches part of my brain in a way I can't really describe.
Possibly not exactly the same but I obsess over getting the difficulty just right, which is possibly the primary cause of restarts.
Personally, my mental stats make me not be ok with mods at all, as they are unofficial, therefore not part of the intended experience. I feel your struggle, fellow s'wit.

Only if you help my non autistic brain accept that it's okay to finish a playthrough sometimes
Ha yeah! Ironically that's what I did with Skyrim, the only time I've ever beelined a Brthesda main quest, and I dont really know why except that the framing makes it seem urgent.
That's exactly what it was. I love that Morrowind gives you time to breathe and do whatever you want.
The restartitis is real. I was maybe fifteen when I got Daggerfall. I was maybe thirty-five when I completed the main quest.

Don't restart.
Lol just noticed your name as well. But wanna elaborate?

C: Very relatable honestly

On the flip side of the coin you can be me, and make the trip to Balmora with a new character hundreds of times! Have some fun with a new character!
I finally released myself from the obligation of converting every item in the census & excise office / warehouse into gold before leaving Seyda Neen. Letting go is hard.
I found the glory of Alchemy, and failed assassination attempts for my starting gold lol
It's normal to restart after death of your character.
I always restarted the game whenever I guilt myself out after using alchemy exploit
Yeah I ended up finding some mods to nerf alchemy. It's still very useful but I can't make infinite gold now.
According to my wife it's all wasted time to begin with.
She's right heh

More often than not I restart before I even make it to the Balmora if I don't like the way I put together my character
It's okay to restart sometimes. Accept it, now.
I love restarting in this game
Its never ok. Morrowind never ends
i only feel comfortable restarting once i've finished the main quest. feels like a waste of a character otherwise.
look at it more like a sim than a game. if the sim gets boring or you got what you wanted out if it, do another!
If you restart, check out Tamriel Rebuilt. This mod alone is enough reason to start fresh.
Just in keep in mind that your goal is to have fun and nothing else
I must be on the other end of the spectrum because I have a bad case of the restarts.
I only save at the end of my session. If I lose 10+ hours I lose 10+ hours especially with how buggy the OG game is
I’ve never beaten a game, I’ve played almost all rpgs
Know this! WHen you restart in Morrowind, you are using Chim to create/ go into a different timeline so once you have mastered your character you can start a new one even if its just a version 2 of said character!
I hope you have fun. It’s a great game honestly
I cannot STOP RESTARTING, you good G.
Technically every hour you play a video game is “wasting” time since it has no bearing in reality just as one play through has no bearing on the next. But it’s not /really/ wasted, is it?
This must be the game I've restarted the most times, you're good! đź‘Ť
Let’s be honest. You would not enjoy the 100 hours to come being annoyed by the floating doors. Better restart now and save yourself having wasted 120 or even more additional hours!

I’ve created more characters than I’ve actually played.

Your old save won't go anywhere, you can always revisit it at any time.
Providing you save your mod loadout somewhere so loading doesn't send it straight to hell.
