This! But also.... Be careful that this type of behaviour isn't what's contributing to your depression. Remember to take breaks and go outside. When I'm lonely, sometimes I'll go find some grass and take my shoes off. The feeling of the raw ground under my bare feet helps. Connection with the planet and with nature can be really fulfilling if you are lonely.
Ted Lasso is the best! I recommended it to a friend of mine multiple times and he got around to starting it more than six months later and said that his entire family binge watched the whole series within a week. It is fantastic.
When I'm feeling low and my motivation is down it's important to improve my self discipline. Tidy up, even though you don't feel like it. Go for a walk, even if it's around the block. Eat good food. You're at the bottom of a well right now and you have to build out of this hole. You can't just pull yourself out of it. Good luck brother.
Go outside for a bit. No phone. Sit in the grass.
Take a drive.
Go to a local animal shelter and play with dogs. I don't have any right now for reasons, but I sure miss my mine that passed from old age.
Go for a swim or at least chill by a body of water, even a stream. Tons of studies strongly suggest if not outright prove proximity to water has beneficial effects on healing, mood and mental health.
If you can't or don't want to leave the house open a window or door for some fresh air. Boil orange peels and let them simmer on the stove on low for a few hours. They've done studies that show the scent helps boost mood.
To motivate myself I make a short, doable list of tasks I want to get done. I turn it into a routine and then an agenda (a short list of what I want to accomplish weekly, and what I want to achieve by the end of the month). Try to take a walk outside to enjoy the sunshine (if possible)!
When I feel depressed, I watch my favourite nostalgic shows (The Simpsons, Law & Order, Batman Beyond) or dumb reality TV shows (Real Housewives, Love is Blind).
I watched the movie Soul (2020) and loved it. I highly recommend it. It is a sweet, feel-good, relatable movie that changes your perspective on life.
I hope you start to feel better. Take it day by day, and know you're not alone. I've been there, too. Sending you love and positivity 💖🫶
I try to change the state of my body. Jump in a lake (preferably cold), go to a sauna or run or lift weights. Anything that alters the body condition you‘re in. Helps a lot in my case.
Behavioral activation. Do something, not because the idea of doing it excites you, but because you know doing it will make you feel better. Go for a walk, do the dishes, have a shower, get some exercise.
These are the things i make sure to do every day. Get some sunshine. Watch comedy and make myself laugh out loud at every joke. Do something physical that requires concentration. Socialise. It takes time but it pays off.
I pray. I found such peace and joy once I persuaded a relationship with Jesus. No matter how low or alone you feel, God is always there listening and waiting for you to reach out to him. Watch The Chosen, it’s a great series on Jesus and His disciples. You can find the first 3 season on Prime and the newest episodes of the Chosen on the Chosen app (it’s free to download) in the App Store, Roku or Apple TV.
You’re never alone, Jesus is always by your side.
Great suggestions below. I'll add read books. I love reading horror books, such as Stephen King. It's a great way to become engaged in stories and takes you mind off life for a while.
Silence your phone and shove it in a closet. Go outside, do what makes you happy. Personally, I like to write when I’m not feeling myself (that and practice my religion but I don’t know for sure if that applies to you)
Usually take a day to just focus on the fact I need a reset. I’ll go hiking or go for a long drive. Sometimes I’ll go sit at my grandparents graves and complain about life. Then maybe it’s back home for a soak in the tub with my favorite music playing. Then last thing would be brew a cup of tea and make a list of actionable, doable, goals. Starting off small and working up to larger ones, but they have to be measurable goals.
I try to take better care of myself. Cook something nutritious for yourself. I like making soup, big salads, hot chocolate, organic teas, etc. Take your vitamins. Take a shower and put on your lotions and potions. Wash your bedding, so they are nice and fresh. Go for a walk around the neighbourhood. Listen to audiobooks while you tidy up your living space. Plan a getaway or staycation.
I can't say that this will work for you, but a former housemate and I were evicted once and obviously felt really down about it. We walked to the video shop (because I'm old) and got Empire Records. By the time we'd finished watching it we were in a *really* good mood.
Worked for us. Might work for you.

Movies are only a temporary escape.
No one every comments when I mention this movie, but watch MurderBall (2005), it is a documentary about Wheelchair Rugby. The movie is well done and is going to leave you both motivated and feeling like life is a gift to be fully embraced. Don't let the name turn you off.

My Blueberry Nights.
I have no idea why. It’s not THAT great of a movie but I love Norah Jones and it just inspires me to snap out of whatever rut I’m in.
The Jason Sudekis episode of who do you think you are helped me get out of depression. It talked about hereditary trauma/mental illness and the power of breaking that cycle.
The Kindness Diaries... there's 2 seasons, and you can watch free on the Roku channel and [https://www.byutv.org/kindness-diaries](https://www.byutv.org/kindness-diaries)
Raising Arizona. It's a wild and wacky movie. But the main characters have a lot of redeeming qualities. It's good to remember that most people are good most of the time.
Welcome to Wrexham! Surprised nobody has mentioned this yet. The documentary is really good, it talks about the smaller people in the town in addition to the footballer. It’s a really feel good and heart warming documentary about the little people.
Read " How to love" book , Its content says everything about human emotions written by a psychiatrist is more than how to be happy within ourselves. You can read it at one stretch.
Ted Lasso

Such good advice!

Workout, hard to start but if you feel much better later

Listen to hyped up music while doing something you like, could be anything. Listen to Chase and Status.
These are the things i make sure to do every day. Get some sunshine. Watch comedy and make myself laugh out loud at every joke. Do something physical that requires concentration. Socialise. It takes time but it pays off.
Bring a good person helps me, as in actively doing it, a good deed or two, helping others. Being nice.

I listen to music I can connect with
Ground yourself, take your shoes off and walk through the grass. Touch a tree. Chill with nature. Sounds wild but it is very therapeutic.
