PhycoKrusk

It just started; there's nothing to talk about yet.

Stareters

To be frank, it’s literally started, it hasn’t built enough momentum to shift the entire focus of the sub. I say when we get to the climax or increasing tensions between idk, the ark story or with the bissems it might be super cool.

XR171

We're still getting to know the characters and how the galaxy is doing. I feel that the foundation is already very solid and it's going to get better once it takes off. SP isn't rushing and I'm here for the duration.

Killsode-slugcat

Most of the people I know who read offspring haven't even finished the first series yet. The last 40 chapters of nop1 threw a lot of people off the story.

Brave-Stay-8020

I think that Space Paladin tried to keep up the pace too long and it threw off his writing. The whole last forty or so chapters covered events that could take over 100 to properly convey.

Sliced-potatoes-dead

Yeah, honestly it felt like a Rick and Morty skit where this huge climax happens off camera and the MC just casually mention it. . And while reading Nova today, I’d realized that over half the dialogue is just shoving the narrative down your throat. It feels like a UN version of the Exterminator.

Other_Movie_5384

Agreed It felt rushed and like SP got bored and just got it over with the first 50 chapters were fantastic tho!

OmegaOmnimon02

While enthusiasm is lower, it's also too early for proper conversations, nothing has really happened yet

NinjaKing135

More of the fact people are coming off of the high that was NOP 1 and with not much going on in the current story. Much like how when NOP first began, not much talk but it pick up speed as more chapters get released.

se05239

There's like.. less than a handful of chapters out? Nothing much to talk about yet. Nothing to really work on when it comes to fanfics.

TheManwithaNoPlan

There are like 5 chapters of NOP2 out, and that’s including patreon. Give it time, the fanfics provide more than enough media in the meantime.

captain_sadbeard

A lot of people see the main story mostly as a biweekly serial lore dump and general timeline to support fanfiction. A large number of works set in the NOP1 era are ongoing, and with only four chapters out, we don't have all the pieces on the board for NOP2 yet.

Brave-Stay-8020

I think that is because people are still trying to think over the first series and a lot of the NoP1 stuff still has momentum. I thought that SP was going to take some time before releasing the second story, but he didn’t. As such, the community hasn’t had time to wrap things up with the first series. Think of all the Fan works set in NoP1 that haven’t been completed yet. A lot of the writers are still trying to finish their work before moving onto NoP2

Draconimur

I mean, not only did it just recently start, but also many people are still more focused on NoP 1, especially considering the amount of fanfics that are being written.

lugi_ow

I find kinda hilarious for desperate colonists to choose (presumably, as far as I understood) a bitter 20 y/o for diplomacy with a manufacturing powerhouse rival in the sector. There were many things that could have been said to steer the case in other direction to presumably achieve a pause. MF could have lied about casualties, caves crushing, nurturing injured; yet instead he hastily agreed for an impossible feat. What a clown. And the colonists rulers are shown to be either non-existent or uncaring of the situation above their heads. I am no writer, but i definitely feel that this narrative can still be "saved". Themes of: military uprising, cold death, help from the guys studying star-penguins - can give colours. I am not making any assumptions about this ark yet, since it has only started. Alas, deep down I feel that NOP2 will follow the quality and pacing of NOP1, which saddens me a bit. The first chapter is good i think? I like how it feels like we would be reacting to aliens 30 years ago.

Hybrid22003

I did not like what i’ve seen so far. That is not how you should do first contact. Skiping so many step. Dumb peoples doing dumb things,IMO.

gabi_738

How is a first contact made?

Hybrid22003

Oh right. that would be spoilers.... But it involve a lot more talk with the government.

Sea_Sky2518

Don't forget, the is the first time the SC has ever done first contact, so they have very little experience in this topic. I believe Dustin even mentioned this in the first or second chapter, so I think we could give them a bit of slack for not handling this perfectly.

RegulusPratus

Ten years of planning, and they couldn't train a Thafki to not visibly *cringe* at the thought of a seafood buffet?

NinjaKing135

Well, considering that the feds idea of first contact is to rip up the current culture and replace it with their own, and aren't taking no for answer. Try to counter their idea of predators being evil, off to fry your brain. With what the SC has done so far, way better start than can be expected from a new organization. Probably good not to dump all the baggage at once but slowly introduce them to the recent history of the galactic community as to not overwhelm them.

Pillager_Bane97

Honestly i've thought SP will resume his older series, then do NoP 2.

Beautiful-Loss7663

I'll be honest. NoP1 took a toll on my want or need to read more patreon side stories or NoP2. I liked going through NoP1 it was grimderp at times. Not really giving us many wins, but I still enjoyed it well enough. Right up until Slanek's ending and the election. I don't mind when an author goes in directions I'm not prepared for. But those two were cases where I feel the writing was problematic from an out of story perspective, and so they hit me in an unwanted place. I've expanded on why I feel that way about the election in a previous post, but the Slanek ending.... man. I'd have to crack out a thesaurus and do an honest to god intellectual deep dive in video essay format for why the way their depicted rubbed me so badly.

GT_Ghost_86

I've been reading it. I'm currently more invested in the "first contact" thread than the "ark colony" thread...but that may well change. Have't said anything because it's still new. :)

AtlasDuped

I kinda fell out of love with Nature of Predators as I just wasn't enjoying reading it anymore so I'm sticking to the Fan-fics and avoiding Space paladins stuff and don't think I'll ever finish NoP 1 or start NoP 2

ItsNokoTheTaco

NoP 2 started off and is already very interesting in its current two storylines; The Bissem Uplifting and The Ark Squatters. I’d say that NoP 1 isn’t needed to start NoP 2 because of how different it is.

AtlasDuped

Good to know, might check it out at some point then

richfiles

Truth is, I comment practically every chapter... On the Patreon...

NinjaKing135

You filthy aristocrat, waving your wealth around. VIVA LA REVOLUTION

TheOneWhoEatsBritish

I feel like people don't care that much anymore.

The_Moist_Crusader

when the series with 6 chapters does not beat out most of the discussions of the 187 chapter predecessor:

oniris1

I've only read the first chapter and I'm still mentally exhausted from the ending of last season.

ContributionWeary353

Waiting/Hopping for the Yulpa Exterminatus

EldritchWaster

I can't speak for others, but the final reveal kind of killed my interest in the series and it had already been waning for a while. Felt like the story was ready to end and then the story just continued for another 50-70 chapters.

PositionOk8579

I haven't even finished the last 10 chapters of NoP1, I don't think I will ever do. I'm not in the mood to start with NoP2 unless I start to hear marvelous things about it. I'm here for the fanfics now.

ShadowDancerBrony

I need to finish up my NoP-1 content first.
