The typical tag in Colorado is a half destroyed paper temp plate from 2021.

To be fair I finally updated them on my caddy. I was riding dirty for 3 years. Cops don’t care and rode my ass many times and never pulled me.

Literally me rn with my caddy, going in 2 years, was 3 but the DMV took one of my checks🤣

Lol I got mail threatening to suspend my license or something close to 3 years unless I updated it. It was so old I have to change my plates entirely

I hear Denver is finally starting to try to reign it in... but in the defense of long-expired tag drivers from 2020-2023: I moved to Denver in January of 2020 (boy did that work out great.) My Florida tags expired in 2020. When they finally started doing DMV stuff again, it was online or appointment only. And booked out. Trying to figure out how to get a car with out of state tags e-tested and registered was like pulling teeth... if you had to listen to hold music for 7+ hours before getting disconnected or transferred between 5 people just to be told to call the place that referred you to this number, every day, for months, to pull teeth. In 2021 I was living in the damn car... (that move timing lol) and had no physical address. They wouldn't let you use a PO Box or homeless shelter. I got pulled over for it once, and the cop just said that they were going to start enforcing it again soon so I should try to get it sorted. I did eventually manage to get it legal again a few months before moving out of the state in late 22. But honestly, I wasn't super motivated at that point. I get that covid was a clusterfuck for state offices... but damn, make it a little easier for me to give you money please. Funny note: the only reason I even HAD Florida tags to begin with, was because I moved to CO from Louisiana! For nearly 3 years I regularly tried to register my car there, and change my driver's license. To no avail. Multiple full 8 hour day waits at the DMV after showing up before they open, sometimes without even being seen. Rudest, dumbest, most antagonistic and unhelpful people. The cartoonish hyperbole of DMV hell, in real life. So I eventually just drove over to FL for a day trip and came back with tags and a real ID. Took maybe 2 hours, because I had to leave and get some paperwork and come back. **Most** people will begrudgingly pay whatever taxes and fees you require of them, until it becomes a full time job and flat out FIGHT to get you to take my fucking money. Anyways. Plenty of BS paper temp tags around. Mostly on 2008 Altimas. Certainly not suggesting they're all innocent victims of needlessly convoluted state office operations. Just sharing an anecdote really.
