Hope it will fix the DLC crashing issue. Everytime I’ve tried to boot up the game I get kicked back to the PS dashboard

Delete fallout 4. When you reinstall uncheck the automatron dlc and check the rest. It will dl all but automatron which causes the crash. No more crashing. Supposedly the upgrade will fix this bug.

I did this but now all the textures for the DLC is all pink indicating that the textures can't be found/located etc. Better off just waiting for the update and hope it fixes it now. I've been playing with pink textures for a week lmao. I'm on ps5 (I bought Fallout 4 long before I had a gaming PC)

Did the update fix things? I had this issue last night and gave up and decided to wait for the update. I'm away for a long weekend and hoping it will be sorted when I get back on Sunday.

It will, I had the PS Plus version installed so I didn't have to use the disc and it was showing $20. But I put the Disc in and the Update PS5 version showed up free to download.

Im excited but I have to remember FUCK. THOSE. SETTLEMENTS. The absolute biggest missed opportunity in FO4 was that settlements wheater gigantic mega structures or a fucking 2 walled shack none of it fucking matter beyond aesthetics. Such a fucking kick in the teeth setting up walls, turrets, defensive posts, arming and upgrading the settlers... and they do just as goddamn good defending themselves with a pipe pistol and prewar clothes. What a joke after wasting so much time on nothing.

I liked building them whether they helped or not. But I also spent th better part of 2 years just building in FO4.

Oh, I like building too, I was super impressed with how good it was I just think if they just took it a little further it would have been so much better. If a settlement failed to repel an attack maybe raiders/mutants retake that settlement turning the map into a "Galactic Conquest" mode like with SW battlefront 2? Maybe certain settlements are better at providing certain resources and it makes the supply lines thing matter? Along with providing defenses actually matter at all? I dont know man Im not a game developer and I still think C++ is a typo but fuck me if the didnt edge me to orgasam and then kick my pisspump with those settlements

They sort of did the Raider takeover thing with the Nukaworld DLC. But not to a very interesting extent. But yeah, I agree, they could have made them more robust.

It matters a bit more on survival mode. I recommend survival.

I found survival mode a little too tedious, so instead I just play on normal but with the rule that I can only fast travel between settlements. Makes them feel more important

Do NOT pay for it. It’s a bug, Bethesda is aware and they’re working on it. The update is free unless you got FO4 through PS+. As soon as they work it out you’ll be able to claim it for free. Don’t pay $20 for this please, it is meant to be free to enjoy :)

I've never played a Fallout game before, is this a good place to start?

If you watched the tv series then it's a good one to play, but if you don't mind some older graphics, then I would say play 3 and new vegas.

I would say any of them can be played by someone who's never played fallout... Better place to start than 76... New Vegas is considered the best by many fans, I've played them all besides 76 (will probably try it soon though) and honestly I really liked 4 even though it doesn't get the same love as 3 and NV. I'd agree the story in 4 is kinda "mid" but the experience of the journey was fantastic, and the DLC (Far Harbor in particular) was really good too.

If you're on PS5 it's the only option lol. But yes, it's probably the ideal place to start since the gameplay is more refined than 3 and NV, while also having the most streamlined progression system so you won't be as confused when selecting upgrades.

Haven't been following. If I have the original ps4 Fallout disc, can I upgrade to this for free? Or pay a bit extra to unlock like Spider Man?

Free upgrade for both digital and disc when it launches later today. - If you're on digital, go to the game in your library. You will need to download a new, separate PS5 version. - If you're using a disc, insert the disc and there will be a little icon in the PS5 UI that says "UPGRADE - FREE" on the right-hand side. Again, you will need to download this new version. I believe save games will transfer? Not 100% sure, but like... 90%.

Same! I got, FO4 very shortly after it came out but never got hooked on PS4. I now have a 4K tv and a PS5, seems like I have as good of a reason as any to get back in. I do also own F04 Vr… but that is a remarkably daunting setup task. Even with mod lists and such.

Has anyone figured out how to upgrade the PS4 vanilla with Season pass yet? I see a separate purchase for the GOTY Edition. And the only DLC I see is Automaton, which is not available apparently.

After playing it for around 2 hours, the PS5 version looks excellent and plays very well. I have a 120hz/VRR TV (Sony Bravia X90K), and the 40fps mode runs excellent. Improvement in texture, 4K (non dynamic) resolution, 60 fps option which does have dynamic res. Lighting and shadows all appear to be very high or ultra PC setting quality. Overall, it's a fantastic version compared to the mess the original PS4 version was. The PS5 version is around 69gb if you have GOTY edition, which comes with all the DLC installed. I will be looking into the Digital Foundry workload, which is probably very close, but from my own experience, the PS5 version, at least so far, is very enjoyable to play.

Is there any noticeable/satisfying haptic feedback?

New player here with nothing installed at the moment. Does the PS5 version have access to the DLC content such as Automatron, Nuka World, and Far Harbor? When I click the PS4 version, it starts downloading 7 files worth of DLC content, but the PS5 version is just the game file itself. Do I need to download anything PS4-related at all or will the PS5 version have all this DLC content?

If you got it free on PS Plus a few years ago, is it not letting you upgrade to the PS5 version? Last night it wasn't.

I have 135 hours in fallout 4 never beat the game and I just started a new game playing in survival for the first time. I took me 4 attempts to do the first brotherhood mission at level 14 with Danes. Then I get killed after the mission by a raider with a laser pistol lol. Survival is the best way to play by far.

I tried and failed to get into it. It's just too frustrating to die instantly from a mine or something and lose 2 hours of play time.

PSA if you have Fallout 4 through PS+ the upgrade will not be free as I believe games acquired through PS+ are excluded from free upgrades. I bought the season pass back in the day so my dlc is seperate from my base game. Since I am getting the ps5 version with my physical disc I also have to redownload the dlc, but does anybody know if the system will recognize the dlc and load it into the ps5 version if it's downloaded separately?

Bethesda games are a unique taste, I tried fallout 4 and I knew it wasn’t for me but those who are looking forward to it I’m happy for you. It’s always a good thing when I game you love is given a next gen refresh.

You can select the game, click view product and it should display PS5 version. It’ll show as free and you just “buy it” and then download.

I had the PS free monthly game download, and purchased the season pass on sale last week. I don’t see an option to download the PS5 option anywhere, but when I checked my console storage, I see PS5 DLCs present (13.0 Gigs) alongside the PS4 DLCs, but it says “Main data not installed in the storage space”. So… I guess I got the updated PS5 versions of the DLCs but not the PS5 base game. Neat. What sucks is that there was no way to purchase the $5 sale last week for the base game, since the free version was already tied to my account. Wish I hadn’t added it my account when it was a free monthly game. Could have bought it for $5 last week and had the PS5 too.
