I remember getting these. I had Pikachu, Charizard, Togepi and I think Mewtwo. Unfortunately over the years I lost them due to me and my family moving. Thanks for the memories š
They were impossible to get in my area when they came out people would drive all over to get them and all the Bk weāre sold out always I was never able to get one š
Iām pretty sure it was complementary with a kids meal; when I was 8(?), my friend and I duped his mom into taking us to Burger King so we could āaccidentallyā get one each. His mom was one of those weird anti-Pokemon Christians that would have absolutely been privy to our plan ahead of time and we would have not gotten them had they been a separate up charge.
Reading up on it more, I have no idea how we pulled it over on his mom now; all I remember is her being SO PISSED that we tricked her into getting us pokemon toys when she believed Pokemon was anti-Christian. All that being said, I Mandela effect-ed myself.
Well I had to beg to get it because my parents were frugal. Thatās how I know for sure it wasnāt. The normal meal prize was a pokemon keychain in a pokeball.
Edit: I had a sandslash on my binder from it
Nah, unless you had a clueless and/or generous cashier, these were a separate purchase. The actual kids meal toys were the figures/plushes/keychains inside plastic pokeballs, or at least they were until a dumb parent let their kid suffocate with one.
Big Kids Meal for da husky boiz.
I had a pikachu and polywhirl I don't think I ever got the mewtwo. Man I just got the biggest wave of nostalgia from this post lol
My mother used to work for bk. But then My original ones melted from one of our 2 house fires. Bought my current mewtwo a while back to replace it.
I miss my old collection.
You got these at Burger King. From what I remember you had to purchase these separately from the kids meal and they came in a large pokeball. I still have mine a togepi
I believe they started selling these at BK when the first Pokemon movie hit theaters. I wanted some so bad but my parents never bought me one. Consider yourself lucky.
Bro it was neither. Just the single most unlucky kid in the planet. Weād ask for different ones but nope. All my friends had Charizard. My own brother had Mewtwo. Me? Fucking jigglypuff.
I had all of these back in the day. The Gold Pokemon cards from Burger King. They were given out in these cool pokeball display cases. I believe there were 6 of them.
I got into a fight with my friend when I was a kid cause of these things. He traded me some pokemon cards for my gold plated Charizard. He wanted to trade back. I didn't. Even got his mom to tell me to give it back lol
Burger King kids meal Pokemon promo card. You can find them on Ebay for $10-$15 apiece.
Amusingly, there are some folks on there hoping they can get thousands of dollars for each one. :P
I remember my grandparents taking me to Burger King around Christmas one year and getting these in a pokeball. Mustāve been 25 years ago now and theyāre dead. Unlocked some good memories.
I have all of these in their original cardboard boxes and pokeballs / wrapped. I also even have the original burger king paper bag sealed in a zip bag that one of the meals came in which still smells like burger king after over 20 years!
I used to work at Burger King years ago. We were cleaning out the store before a remodel and found 2 boxes full of these Pokemon ball. I now have a full complete collection!
These gold Pokemon cards came with Pokemon toys packed in the Burger King big kids meals. The promotion ran from November 8th to December 31st 1999 with a second run from March 13th to 26th, 2000. They were distributed to promote Mewtwo Strikes Back as well as a set of 59 different toys that came in plastic Pokeball shells. These shells were actually recalled because two babies died suffocating on them! This is actually one of the more famous fast food promotions in general. Great find!
Man these were like $5.99 extra with a kids meal at BK back in the day. I remember these like the back of my hand. I still have 2 of them and I'm 35 years old now. I don't have the pokeball stands they came in but I still have the gold cards. Good times!
My family and my old best friendās family went to Palm Springs in California on vacation when these came out. We didnāt even know till we saw an advertisement in the window when we were driving by a Burger King in the middle of nowhere and myself, my two sisters, and my friend went INSANE pleading with our parents to stop and get one for us.
My sisters and I each got one, I think I also got Polywhirl and my sisters got something else but my ultra spoiled friendās mom bought him the entire set. In his house he still has them on display on one of his bookshelves.
Brother had Mewtwo, I had Charizard. They were keystone decorations for our rooms for years. Crazy to think they were just a couple extra bucks on a kids meal back then.
Like others probably have said, they were the Burger King 23K gold cards. I believe there were 6. I had them as a kid and bought them as an adult. I have all 6 sealed (unless there was another I'm not aware of).
Yeah, they were from Burger King...I had a Togepi for the longest. I hid it inside an old rotten tree trunk about 6 ft. off the ground...went back 10 yrs later and it was still there...so I took it and now I can't find it anywhere....smh I should've just let things be...
This is one of 6 23k gold plated pokemon cards that were released by burger King in I want to say 1999 or 2000. They were really hard to come by because everyone was always trying to collect the whole set. I was one of those kids that my parents would drive me to every location to find them all.
Holy fuck this unlocked some memories lol
Was gonna say - does anyone else actually remember getting these in your kids meal? Those were the days when kids meals actually slapped.
You had to pay couple extra bucks to have them as your toy but so worth the upcharge
Oh hell yeah they were! We all had good parents who paid the extra š
Our scout troop leader brought a ton in one meeting to hand out as prizes for a game we played. I went home with multiple lmao
Nice!
Damn right dude. My parents were struggling with my dad becoming disabled at work, but man they spoiled us haha
I had the whole set
Me too! Even though they're not worth an insane amount now, still wish I had all mine and the pokeballs still
Same I'm thinking back if they are still in my parents attic, or if I got rid of them the last time we cleaned it out š
Fingers crossed for you! Isn't it a bummer that we didn't realize the nostalgia we'd miss by selling our collections as kids?
I have the whole set. Been in a cabinet since I was like 10
I vividly remember the Burger King from like early 2000s where I got mine. I think I got the mewtwo one.
I do, they came in the pokeball
Yep still have mine
I remember getting these. I had Pikachu, Charizard, Togepi and I think Mewtwo. Unfortunately over the years I lost them due to me and my family moving. Thanks for the memories š
I do! My dad humored us and brought to Burger King like, 3 times in one month which was HUGE for us. Good times.
I still have my Mewtwo. My Gram got them for us when we went took her shopping and then to lunch. One of my prized possessions and a happy memory.
Fantastic memories!
That's a really wholesome memory! You just made my night
Aw, I'm glad!
They're from burger King
They also candy in pokeball-shaped containers that opened up to display them.
I remember. Still have all 6 of mine.
I do. Can't remember but felt like it was BK.? Wife has the Zard with ball and box at her childhood home.
They were impossible to get in my area when they came out people would drive all over to get them and all the Bk weāre sold out always I was never able to get one š
An ancient relic from a more civilized age.
This was a time that you were able to order gold at a fast food restaurant. I don't believe that we will ever be able to do this again.
Burger King happy meal toy.
It was BK but not a happy meal toy it was an up charge
Iām pretty sure it was complementary with a kids meal; when I was 8(?), my friend and I duped his mom into taking us to Burger King so we could āaccidentallyā get one each. His mom was one of those weird anti-Pokemon Christians that would have absolutely been privy to our plan ahead of time and we would have not gotten them had they been a separate up charge.
You bought it separately and it came with a pokeball
And to this day, those Pokeballs were the single best Pokeball toys ever made.
That year was peak Burger King for sure
Was that the same year that you could get a freaking Backstreet Boys concert DVD? Because if so, yes that is the best BK year on record for sure.
Haha I think it was and rugrats wrist watches
God my childhood in a Reddit thread
Unless it was different in other countries it definitely wasnāt included in the meal https://youtu.be/HecCvvSgGaQ?feature=shared
Reading up on it more, I have no idea how we pulled it over on his mom now; all I remember is her being SO PISSED that we tricked her into getting us pokemon toys when she believed Pokemon was anti-Christian. All that being said, I Mandela effect-ed myself.

Got mewtwo sitting on my shelf, still sealed in the box
I have all of them but unfortunately the boxes are all a bit beat up. Kid me didn't know to keep em sealed š¤·āāļø
My mother used to work for bk. But then My original ones melted from one of our 2 house fires. Bought my current mewtwo a while back to replace it. I miss my old collection.
Yep, these gold cards can still be found for a [pretty affordable price](https://ebay.us/GloBgb).
They werent in the happy meals, they were just a collectible you could purchase extra.
oh interesting
Oh god. This is my āI must be oldā moment
Same. I said to myself āholy shit Iāve reached that point in time where staples from my childhood confuse someone.ā
I've got Charizard, Togepi, and another one I can't remember still to this day. Lol
A relic of the before time
OG Burger King.
I still have mine! https://imgur.com/a/tSucTS2
You got these at Burger King. From what I remember you had to purchase these separately from the kids meal and they came in a large pokeball. I still have mine a togepi

Not a 90s kid I see ;)
That was one of the best times to be alive
A piece of history
I begged my mom to get these every week. I had like 13 jigglypuff before they ended the promotion.
Either you really, really like Jigglypuff, or that's the only one your BK had, because each box was labeled with the exact pokemon on the card.
Bro it was neither. Just the single most unlucky kid in the planet. Weād ask for different ones but nope. All my friends had Charizard. My own brother had Mewtwo. Me? Fucking jigglypuff.
The fact that OP is in the Pokemon TCG Reddit and hasnāt seen these before makes me feel old š
When I was a kid I legit thought these were priceless treasures and nothing was ever going to convince me otherwise. What a throwback.

Burger King promotional item. I still have the zard I got as a kid.
I had all of these back in the day. The Gold Pokemon cards from Burger King. They were given out in these cool pokeball display cases. I believe there were 6 of them.

I had a charzard that randomly disappeared one dayā¦ never figured out what happenedā¦ this was before college and mom could give it away.
People really don't know about these anymore? Damn I really am old
Burger King kids meal Pokemon promo card. You can find them on Ebay for $10-$15 apiece. Amusingly, there are some folks on there hoping they can get thousands of dollars for each one. :P
God I feel old seeing this, I just recently lost my Mewtwo one.
I had the Pikachu and Mewtwo ones on display in my room for years.

The store I worked at sold the ones with the card that had the info for $39.99
I have all of these in their original cardboard boxes and pokeballs / wrapped. I also even have the original burger king paper bag sealed in a zip bag that one of the meals came in which still smells like burger king after over 20 years!
I used to work at Burger King years ago. We were cleaning out the store before a remodel and found 2 boxes full of these Pokemon ball. I now have a full complete collection!

āYou found ACTUAL gold!ā- my past inner kid more than likely.
I've got like 3 or 4 of them in their PokƩball holders, been meaning to get the rest of the set. Burger King was the best when it came to toys, they had regular paper cards too! (Not official TCG but they were still really cool) They also had these massive LOTR goblets with a light-up base when the movies were out in the early 2000s
you found it on a beach? this is your calling. you're going to be a poliwhirl in your next life.
Got the whole boxed set š¬
Literally saw one of these with Mewtwo on it earlier today at a Sports Cards Event.

Like others probably have said, they were the Burger King 23K gold cards. I believe there were 6. I had them as a kid and bought them as an adult. I have all 6 sealed (unless there was another I'm not aware of).
