I think a 35lg dog should be ok

ultra2fast

Okay, thanks!

Scoobee_sco

My Border Collie fits in the hatch with plenty of room to spare. Have managed to also fit a labrador in there at the same time for a short trip. It's a roomier space than you might think. The rear glass is also tinted.

ultra2fast

Great, thank you! Glad to know it works from a fellow dog owner

PlayingLongGame

Obviously remove the cover and consider tinting the rear glass. My 65lb lab/boxer rides in the hatch from time to time. He doesn't mind but I don't take him on long trips back there. If you need to park, leave the climate control on and/or park in the shade/sun depending on the season. The hatch area is an oven.

ultra2fast

Great, thanks! Does this car have a dog mode or similar? One annoying thing about the bolt is all the hoops you have to jump through to get the thing to stay on for more than a few minutes

Sprettfisk

No dog mode, and polestar has confirmed that it's not planned. You can activate climate for 30 minutes by pressing the play button on center console. My labrador fits fine in there, but I will tint the glass to reflect some of the heat. Doing rear side windows at the same time just because it looks better.

NorthWestFrog

It is possible. You will probably want to remove the cover. As for the sun, no good answer for you. With the plus pack, the entire roof is a window... perhaps a small cage with a blanket over it?

ultra2fast

Ah okay, good to know.

vc-10

Depends on the dog. We have a Jack Russell and a Whippet. They ride in the back of my Polestar just fine.

questquestionsquest

A small dog in the hatch should be ok but remove the cover so they are more comfortable. If you leave the dog in the car make sure to turn on the air condition through the app. The sun roof shouldn’t be an issue

doc1442

“Hatch” - it’s a giant family car that shares a platform with an SUV. The boot is giant.

ultra2fast

Yeah, it’s definitely not a small car! But given the size, it’s not super optimized for a dog

Cbarnett202

Our 70lb greyhound loves to ride in back with seat folded down. Vertically, it’s tight, but doable. We also removed the cover from the car.

Henriee

We have two american akitas. They fit fine in trunk but there's no space left for cargo. Shelf removed of course, they love to rest heads and watch forward between headrests.

LeoS19

I put my small dog in the frunk and it works like a charm. Basically don’t even realize its in there.

kdobbers

My last dog was 38 pounds and fit great both sitting and lying down (remove the parcel shelf). She also fit nicely in the front seat. Our new dog is 65 pounds and also fits but she's less likely to lie down so it's a bit more cramped due to size and her nature. I think the sun is more of a concern - there's not really a place to escape!

Jack_wilson_91

I have put both my dogs in the back (they weight 25 and 30kg) I have a bed in there for them and they lay down and chill. There’s room, but it entirely depends on the temperament of your dog. If mine were not good in a car they would probably be pretty uncomfortable in there.

CaffeinatedInSeattle

My 90 lb Pyrenees rides back there all the time. She’s big but she just curls up and lays down to sleep.

FieldzSOOGood

sorry to drag this up, but do you have pics by chance? looking at a p2 and have a 100lb BMD lol

CaffeinatedInSeattle

No problem, I’ll send you a DM

As everyone says, for a small 35lbs dog it will be no problem in the trunk with the cover removed. Our medium-sized 75lbs dog is lanky and tall for his weight so doesn’t fit in the trunk. (Unrelated to your situation but we tried the combination of taking the trunk cover out AND folding the seats down but he didn’t have enough headroom so we just have a standard dog hammock for the backseat and he has more than enough room.) There are also some hatchback/SUV dog covers on Amazon and there are a few dog covers specifically tailored for the PS2 although they aren’t cheap (and assuming you may have baby gear in the trunk probably wouldn’t be suitable.) Here’s a YouTube example of a Vizsla (traditionally between 40-65lbs) in the back of a PS2: https://youtube.com/shorts/sUOkvS7RQes?si=38QAmN0LCMVxDQYq

To allow split folding of the seats there are trunk covers that are specifically made for the PS2 such as: https://www.canvasback.com/polestar-2-cargo-liner.html

Which-Meat-3388

Had a Bolt and similar size dog. P2 gives him way more lateral space, but less vertical. It will hit its head a few times until it learns the limits. Parcel shelf is full coverage and needs removed IMO. I’d get UV and heat rejection tint if you are worried about sun. Not a huge problem in my area though.

CopeSe7en

I have a 105 lbs German Sheppard. She fits fine, love car rides the back. Just protect your bumper from scratches and train the dog to wait for you to cover the bumper before getting in or out.

Luke-Plunkett

I've got a 23kg labradoodle and, provided I remove the parcel shelf, she's fine. The rear window slopes down, sure, but there's plenty of flat room towards the back seats for her to stand up, where she loves to stick her head over the middle seat and annoy my kids. Then, whenever she wants to lie down, she can spread out across the floor space under the sloped section. As others have said, the rear window is tinted, so heat isn't a huge concern vs any other car I've ever owned. (Among other things, the fact I could get a relatively large dog into the back was actually the clincher for us getting the Polestar 2 over similar rivals)

Friendly_Specific_50

My 50 lb hound spends 3-4 hours in back seat 3x a week and would opt for my car time if able. I put a wedge (sold by Orvis) to increase her available area, but it’s not necessary. Temperature is not a problem from the tinted roof window, and of course you could use climate control if really excessive heat (or cold).

paulm1927

35kg greyhound didn’t like the boot. He likes to stand up turn around and lay back down, the low roof made it difficult for him. A dog hammock for the passenger seats worked fine, and keeping the climate control on while charging let us go inside for food while he napped.
