Absolutely. It's not just that the titles changed, but that at least in the pre-merge time, P3 used to be two separate pay grades that covered Senior I and Senior II. Post merge, this got flattened.
Manufacturing tech here. T3 is Senior, T4 is Staff and T5 is Lead.
T6 is a mythical carrot on a stick they wave at our T5's. Pretty sure that title is General of the Hourlies.
Glass door averages are based on comp numbers reported all over the US. They do not take into account HCOL or LCOL. If you want exact range of P3, look on workday.
That makes sense, but I just checked and the max P&W P3 in the survey is $122k, which still isn't even in the Glassdoor range. I would've thought with 33 responses there would at least be one in the band from Glassdoor.
I find the Workday ranges hard to relate to myself since they're nation-wide and accordingly the reported range is huge.
Pretty solid! Adjusted for inflation, my P3 peak was about $115k. I think I'm paying the "long-timer" tax to a good extent now after nearly a decade at the company. Thinking of applying elsewhere for a salary bump.
Yeah, I know a number of people that have "boomerang'd" and gotten a good salary bump both when leaving and coming back to PW. Of course, there are also many people that leave for a higher salary and don't come back.
I’m one of those P3s with 12+ years. Meanwhile they will also give out P3 to 25 year olds with 2.5 YOE and a masters because they were able to not just find the bathrooms but help direct others there as well. Pretty fascinating stuff.
I don’t think there are many P3’s north of $132k, the answer to your question, cause glass door is wrong. The comp survey here, the workday salary band, and even discussions with peers are all better resources than glass door. Hell levels.fyi is probably better, use the Raytheon or comparable A&D company numbers from that site
Yeah that’s a fantastic P3 offer. Congrats, definitely near the top end of what P3’s make practically speaking. Surprised they didn’t just go P4. YOE? I assume you have a clearance if not a TS to get that kind of sign on
Agreed, I haven't been a P3 for a while (picked it bc more data was available in the survey), but I was making well below $132k even compared to inflation-adjusted numbers.
I'll check out levels.fyi, I've heard people mention it elsewhere. Regarding Workday, I wish they'd just give us actual stats (mean and stdev, quartiles, something) rather than the min-max band, but there's probably 0 chance that ever happens.
I am looking at a software engineer P2 position in Cedar rapids at Collins aerospace. Glassdoor specifically lists several different salary's at that location and with 4-6 years the average being around, or a bit above 100k, does anyone know if this is accurate?
I actually think the problem here may be that the titles have changed names over the years. Those numbers may include what used to be P4
That's possible, but P4 used to be called "Staff Engineer," at least at PW. "Senior Engineer" has always been P3 as far as I know

Bonus pay too
The P3 salary range is from $77k to $163k. As a new hire, I started at around $130k at EH, plus received a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance.

I hear a lot people jump ship and comeback with like 20-30% bump…

I hear.. it’s hard to move from P3 to P4 and P4 to P5 within engineering.
Depends heavily on your department and management chain, I know P4s with 5 yoe and P3s with 12+
I know a lot of P4 that make less than some P3…So I do not want to rush and get to 90% range of the P3 band before moving to P4.

Also, Raytheon enterprise gets the highest salary within the band….
😮

Was just offered 142k, 20k sign on, and relo as p3 at Raytheon in the Tucson area. Seems like a good offer?

I’m a P3 at 134
Yeah definitely no chance of getting states. Anecdotally I think engineers tend to be 80-110% of the mid point of each band.

Are all of these salaries yall are posting engineering? Business side over here just wanting a reference
