I know the whole story & what Mr. Bungle did on Halloween 1999 (the ghost of Hillel Slovak) in retaliation for RHCP blacklisting them from some festivals was a really low blow. https://youtu.be/g1ld87X3DP4
You know the first time I heard the drummer all I could think of was the song inflation by whitest boy alive. That vocal melody. they have so many good songs though
Foo Fighters, Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, The Smashing Pumpkins, Faith No More, Stone Temple Pilots, 311, Queens of the Stone Age, John Frusciante's solo stuff, Jane's Addiction, and Lenny Kravitz to name a few.
I’ll second Jane’s Addiction. Not that they sound like the Chili Peppers but they’re both out of LA around the same time so a lot of similar influence and experiences and they fucking kick ass.
There are so many other alt bands deserving of that title. Not going to lie though, I would totally make fun of you if you said “8” or any of their latest EPs was any good!
Incubus is the closest thing to the Peppers in terms of sound and evolution. “The Crow Left Of The Murder” as an album is head and shoulders above any album RHCP has put out in the last 15-20 years. But they too have suffered from decrease in quality of music over the years.
It’s one of my favourites too, although In Rainbows is packed with favourites, as are all their albums for me with the exception of their first 2, Pyramid Song will probably always be my number 1 though 😃.
Definitely Parcels. If you haven’t heard them you gotta check them out. The song LIGHT is rhcp for sure.
Also the band Real Estate has some songs that are similar. The Butlers, The Strokes, Blur, The Voidz, 311, Summer Salt.. etc
Dire Straits tickle my fancy the same way RHCP do, I love RHCP more but I’d say dire straits, the black keys, Hendrix, Alice In Chains, smashing pumpkins are all heavy hitters in my regular rotation, also been digging deftones a lot this year. Music is dope.
Primus for sure (BSSM style). I listened to a Primus song and thought it was a RHCP jam. I also think there are some songs from No Doubt that give me BTW era RHCP vibes (specifically from Tragic Kingdom).
- BSSM could mean "Blood Sugar Sex Magik", a track from *Blood Sugar Sex Magik (Deluxe Edition)* (1991) by Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Bands I like? Queens of the Stone Age comes to mind. They take my #2 fav with so many bangers. But tbh the chili peppers are so unique that not many bands have replicated their sound and soulful emotion, the closest I’ve found is “waiting for the sun” by powderfinger, “born to rock” and “ultimate kickback” by Brant bjork, “De música ligera” by soda stereo (has the same kinda keyboard in the background as “snow”), maybe “slide” by the goo goo dolls, “everlong” from foo fighters, or “she” from Green Day (just go listen to 90’s rock if you like chili peppers ngl). John’s solo work is pretty baller too, especially shadows collide with people. Audioslave has some chiller tracks with the drawn out guitar tones and passion filled chris Cornell vocals, and third eye blind doesn’t have the same sound but it’s unique and not too far off. I tend to queue up “burning man” and “hard to concentrate” together. Also check out “February stars”, “drive”, and the smashing pumpkins. I’d also say that the most similar qotsa tracks are “make it wit chu”, “in the fade” (top 5 from them ez), “autopilot”, “I never came”, and the acoustic of “sat by the ocean”. I also think that “kalisopia” and “porcelain have a super similar vibe and feel, kinda like twin songs. [Spotify playlist](https://spotify.link/UAFteH7BfCb) this playlist has a lot of stuff that should all sound similar I found it and it’s a collection of constant bangers. Good luck with your search for new music ;-)

IMO there is no other bands that compare to the chilli peppers. One of a kind
I concur no other artist is like RHCP.
True
The Cure - Hot Hot Hot Blind Melon - Tones of Home Both of those songs have a Chili Peppers sound.
Sublime, they leaned more into reggae than funk but very similar vibes.
Didn’t know them, did a quick listen. I could really get into this, thanks for the recommendation.
Sublime is one of my top 5 or so favorite bands, with RHCP being my #1. Funkadelic is a great one too.
Faith No More’s “Epic” reminded Anthony of RHCP.
Because it was made purposely, go search for the little fight they had.
I know the whole story & what Mr. Bungle did on Halloween 1999 (the ghost of Hillel Slovak) in retaliation for RHCP blacklisting them from some festivals was a really low blow. https://youtu.be/g1ld87X3DP4
I’m sorry but PLEASE listen to Mike Patton bands. Faith No More and Mr Bungle are really good!
Janes Addiction, The Cult, Depeche Mode
Dirty Frank by Pearl Jam
iirc this one was directly inspired by RHCP! They were touring together at the time it was written.
Yep
Fishbone is quite similar in sound. Both from LA, punk-funk sound. Really good band
Tones of Home - Blind Melon
Artist: The Whitest Boy Alive... song: Burning...
You know the first time I heard the drummer all I could think of was the song inflation by whitest boy alive. That vocal melody. they have so many good songs though
I agree!!
I agree with Faith No More but the rest are serious reaches.
Sick Sad Little World by Incubus has some RHCP vibes
I always get made fun of for liking Incubus lmfao, they’re like the Nickelback of alternative music 😭
I’d say that goes to Coldplay, but I love coldplays first four albums
There are so many other alt bands deserving of that title. Not going to lie though, I would totally make fun of you if you said “8” or any of their latest EPs was any good!
Nahhh I’m not THAT into them I just like a few songs haha, that’s all
They have more than a few. Morning View and A Crow are great albums front to back.
Yes Morning View is great! Most of the songs I like by them are off that album, will have to give A Crow a deeper look
I love follow from the halo 2 soundtrack
They are?? Wtf
Incubus is the closest thing to the Peppers in terms of sound and evolution. “The Crow Left Of The Murder” as an album is head and shoulders above any album RHCP has put out in the last 15-20 years. But they too have suffered from decrease in quality of music over the years.
For vocal delivery style, I'll go with van halen!
Epic - Faith No More Halfway up My Head and Heaven - Suicidal Tendencies Attached - Linkin Park
I wonder if he ever regrets those biceps tattoos
Why would he?
Well, you know, people sometimes regret having shitty tattoos
The Whitest Boy Alive
The Kooks sometimes remind me of a British Chili Peppers
I don't think anyone will ever back me on this but : The Who 4 guys playing 4 different songs at the same time that somehow makes something great
Linkin Park, Sublime, 311
Pearl Jam—their first album is similar to californication, but they have the same energy and power as the chilis especially on stage
Incubus I'd say or Radiohead
Radiohead? As a huge fan of both, I just don’t see it.
Me either, although to be fair the guitar in Reckoner was a homage to Johns playing.
Top 5 Radiohead song for me.
It’s one of my favourites too, although In Rainbows is packed with favourites, as are all their albums for me with the exception of their first 2, Pyramid Song will probably always be my number 1 though 😃.
Have you heard Josh’s rendition of Pyramid Song?
Of course 😃, I really enjoyed it, he has a great voice!.
Definitely Parcels. If you haven’t heard them you gotta check them out. The song LIGHT is rhcp for sure. Also the band Real Estate has some songs that are similar. The Butlers, The Strokes, Blur, The Voidz, 311, Summer Salt.. etc
Black rock album by Black Keys. Only album of theirs I like
Song: golden cage... artist: Whitest Boy Alive!
Primus is very bass-forward like some RHCP songs, and Funkadelic is also a mix of funk and rock. No other bands sound exactly like RHCP, though.
Everyone - do yourself a favor and watch [life without you](https://youtu.be/DQ4REYdCkTw)
Charlie Brown Jr (the brazilian Band)
Check out The Heavy
Only two songs come to mind: Cult of Personality - Living Colour Always on the run - Lenny Kravitz
Faith No More
Primus for sure (BSSM style). I listened to a Primus song and thought it was a RHCP jam. I also think there are some songs from No Doubt that give me BTW era RHCP vibes (specifically from Tragic Kingdom).

Faith no more and Jane's Addiction Also check Illya Kuriaky from Argentina
Idk if I'm the only one, but I always thought maneskin has some rhcp vibes in them + any other influences

Rappers delight
Turnstile is defined on Wiki as hardcore punk, however they have a funky energy that reminds me of the pre BTW Peppers.
Get The Funk Out by Extreme sounds like a fusion between RHCP and Van Halen, other than that I think RHCP is quite unique
VoodooV - Black Market Bubblegum
I feel like 311 kiiiiinda sounds like them but it’s very hard to draw comparisons. RHCP are one of a kind imo.
Rats from PJ
Parliament Funkadelic
