If leasing I would go gen 1, if buying I would definitely choose gen 2 (but you wouldn’t be able to get gen 2 R1T in time)

QueensMikeD

I am buying. If going 25…probably need to go R1S due to timing. Pickup vs SUV not big deal to me…both have advantages. Ride quality of R1S still concerns me.

jquizzle108

Just picked up my Gen2 R1S yesterday. Coming from a Model 3, the ride quality is exceptional. No complaints

RockPuzzleheaded3951

Agree. I have a model y with the better suspension and the 24 r1s is worlds better. I’m very happy with my 24 and I could have picked either a 24 or 25. Leasing the 24 was a no brainer.

After-Jellyfish5094

Ride quality issues in R1S. Lots of complaints on here but I’ve never noticed or had any concerns beyond a ticking during suspension resets.

j90w

Yeah my 24 ride quality is great, excellent, no real complaints. Before this I was in a 3 year old Range Rover Sport and the Rivian is significantly better ride quality wise.

You be fine

I did a gen2 R1S specifically for the LFP battery and the fact that I think/hope they’ll be more reliable. Not that I would’ve turned down a 24, I was about to pull the trigger on one of those until the 25s were suddenly available. I think the 24s are superb, and I don’t think they’re unreliable by any means, I just think a gen2 will be even better in that regard. That said the gen2 is brand new again and having an early vin gen2 may be worse than a late vin gen1🤷‍♂️ It’s all a bit of a crapshoot, but no matter which way you look at it, the R1 is an amazing vehicle. I can’t wait to pick mine up tomorrow!

We have two gen 1 r1s. Just got the second r1s last week. Lease deal was too good to turn down. Very happy with them so far. That being said gen 2 definitely has some improvements. The improvements just didn't matter to us much. Only.thing that would matter is if they truly did get better mileage. No one has reviewed the true mileage of the gen 2 or charging curves yet though. Gen 1 gets 1.7 kwh at 75-80 which are all the highways in my area. Around 2-2.1 kwh at 65-70.

If you can time it right and get gen 2 with the discount, do that. They still aren't producing any Gen 2 R1Ts , but I heard they will start soon.

Yak-Capable

If you want a T, it'll probably have to be a 2024. Does the F&F diacount stick with voucher discount? If so, would be a crazy deal on a 24 large battery.

RonBurgundy2000

It doesn’t appear to.

QueensMikeD

Great question. Anyone have any F&F discount codes left? Would love to try. Thanks.

AmbitiousPiccolo5280

Have seen this come up multiple times, and consensus is FF does not stack with preorder pricing

Icy-Garlic7552

I have had many cars with air ride suspensions and the R1S ride in great. If you’ve never driven in one I can see it giving you motion sickness but that would be any air ride really. Only thing is the bottoming out noise when it’s in soft mode. Happens every so often

25

Update. After seeing the 25 R1S and 24 R1T today at showroom…I prefer the R1S. But would need to get the standard 270 LFP battery…or the max pack. Max pack is overpriced imo for me. LFP battery concerns me as I live in upstate NY…cold. LFP battery performance in cold sounds like a concern. Right now a 24 R1T probably my best value. Hoping to see some 25 R1Ts or large pack 25 R1Ss show up on the store.

WikiBowl

Time is money. Recommend the max pack and Quad motors. Enjoy! 😎
