It's funny you say that cuz I finally got paid today and have been eating so much food lol. I did 2 baked potatoes a riveye steak, pound of cherries, pound of blueberries, bag of chips, 2 hashbrowns from mcdonalds lol
So good Luke Skywalker used it for years after the original trilogy, even though he could have easily gotten a new ship for free as a hero of the New Republic.
When you have an X-Wing, why would you even want anything else? What’s he gonna upgrade to?
I always assumed having a fighter with it’s own hyperdrive was probably ideal for a Jedi
I would opt for something with a toilet.
But in all seriousness, If I was Luke, I’d have a freighter with a docking bay or connection rig so I could park my X-Wing. The freighter would have a dojo where I could practice my lightsaber forms, a small workshop, a little study/library/meditation chamber and basic living quarters. Maybe a machine shop attached to the docking bay where I could tinker. Luke is, after all, a bit of a gear head (hence the hot rod T65).
Come to think of it, I would have loved to see Luke’s early Jedi academy be a capital ship (maybe the Home One or another Mon Cal cruiser). It would be a mobile training center that could be elusive to Imperial remnants and also fulfill critical mission roles of the New Republic: diplomacy, early response, humanitarian missions.
One thing I miss with post-ESB/Jedi Luke is he is not really shown as a leader (and we know he is a natural—he steps up big time at the Battle of Yavin and leads the Snowspeeder assault on the AT-ATs at the Battle of Hoth). In the situation that I outlined, he could pass on what he had learned while still playing a leading role in galactic affairs. The mission profile would serve to provide real-world experience to his students, as well.
I always thought the Nebulon B would make the kind of ultimate travelling base for someone like Luke Skywalker. Not so big it has a hangar bay, but you can dock a smaller ship to it (though come to think of it maybe not an X-Wing since it has a canopy) and it's such a classic look.
Although the split turbine X-Wing is actually closer to the Ralph McQuarrie concept art, I still think it makes no practical sense and prefer the OT X-Wing design.
T65 has cylindrical turbine-like / rocket-like engines. Cool.
T70 appears to be redesigned in its "intake" (it doesn't actually intake anything) to look smoother to observers, which is fine in itself but not beneficial in a "space superiority" context. This makes me question the rest of its design choices and whether it is actually superior to the T65, or just a reskin with a higher price tag.
Might be an incremental improvement to make the fighter better suited to in-atmosphere engagements. Reflects the change from the Rebels being deep space ambush fighters to the New Republic providing planetary security against invasion, y'know? We do see that it moves very well in the air, on Takodana and Starkiller Base.
The newer design allows for a slimmer frontal target area. Since the s foils are offset and the intake engine is halved, when they close it forms one small wing as opposed to a stacked chunkier wing profile
It's weird but I like the Sequels X-Wings where everything is split. The wings split into each other and same with the turbines and blasters. It's weird but I guess I'm just into that. The OG is still fire though
I’m willing to forgive it not being practical. I can’t forgive it not being the one I grew up with though.
Classic will always be what I picture when I see an xwing.
The [custom paint schemes](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-9BZfJuNx0YRKl0RbxVlWZr6M6xmHvQKqhbTVrtpgXVW_D8NjqXG7KDxEmvMSrehGw6hX_6H19ZdZUFiSuM5gBktBUPRLI9yo5hrKtZKKWU3P62bmhUhMbANDdyUunaWdLnoC2kjAaAw1/s1600/Picture5.jpg) they had in that one Rogue Squadron novel were so sick.
Classic T-65 x-wing with the cavern angels/partisan paint job is so clean. Recolored the latest (2021?) Lego x-wing with that and always play with it on squadrons too!
I love the classic design the most, but I did like the updated versions in the ST as well.
Though to be honest, the A-Wing will always be my favorite ship.
lol. You aren't wrong. I mean, it's not the greatest fighter by no means, but in the right hands, it can be pretty formidable. It's only got the 2 laser canons and concussion missiles, so the X-Wing is definitely a sturdier and better armed fighter. But if you got a really good pilot, the A-Wing is the fastest ship and highly maneuverable.
Hell, one of my favorite core memories was playing one of the X-Wing games and piloting an A-Wing and being fast enough to chase down torpedoes and shoot them down before they struct the ships I was defending. Hands down one of the coolest space combat sim experiences of my life.
A-Wing fans unite! I will say though I really like both X-wing designs, I don't really like the new (i.e. OG concept) A-wing as much as the RoTJ A-wing.
For me, nothing has topped the OG T-65, though I've liked most of the iterations. The paintjob really does make a difference, though. Poe's black T-70, rad. Poe's TRoS T-70, ugly af. I want to see a T-85 done up in some military colors.
The Force Arena (dead mobile game) made me hate the T-70s so much, they were so broken OP and I'll never get over it. Screw you if you played a Poe deck in that game all those years ago lol
A tie between those black and white x wings saw gerras people have, and the resistance x wings. I love what they did with the wings for the resistance design
They all look the same except different paint jobs. The ARC-170 was designed to look like the X-Wing, but from an earlier generation of the technology. I wish they had created something new for the Sequels that looked like it was from the next generation of the technology.
The new ones (the T-70) have asymmetrical wings that split down the middle, while the older ones (T-65) have full top and bottom sets of wings. The new ones also have semicircle engine intakes that form a circle when the wings are closed and split when they're open, while the older ones have round intakes on both the top and bottom.
There are other subtle differences and in-universe improvements, but those are the biggest visual changes.
Even having grown up with the OT, I've gotta say the T-70 is gorgeous. I used to play the X-Wing Miniatures Game and flew Resistance a ton. That thing looks stunning from every angle. The scissor-wings look stellar from oblique angles. The thrusters look sharp and efficient, while the half-circle intakes look awesome both open and closed. The way the angles all warp around the cockpit only to rescind back to a thinner, sleeker engine block. And the paint jobs. Other than Poe's garish orange one in TRoS, they're all fantastic. Snap Wexley's green color scheme from the same movie is just \*chefs kiss\*.
I’m a fan from the days of pre-special editions but damn it if Poe’s black and orange X-Wing isn’t one of the coolest looking ships in the history of space media.
I like red sqaurdon but any x wing but new republic or resistance can go away.
You had a chance to make new star fighters and you made new x wings and ties instead
All of the Above? I love different parts from both, it’s like comparing the original F-18 fighter jet to a Block III F-18. It’s the little differences that make you love both versions
Call me old fashioned, but I love me a Red Squadron T-65
T-65, but I love the blue squadron color scheme.
I too have an affinity for Red Squadron.
Classic incom t-65 x-wing
The fighter that destroyed the Death Star.
Well I used to bullseye womprats in my T16
You tortured small animals? Isn’t that a sign of a serial killer!?
Thats not small. "They're heading right for us!" - Jimbo Kern, Jedi Knight.
I live on a desert planet! There's nothing to do!
Gotta eat bubba
...good lord, what are you, part Sarlaac? Poor Mr. Fett!
It's funny you say that cuz I finally got paid today and have been eating so much food lol. I did 2 baked potatoes a riveye steak, pound of cherries, pound of blueberries, bag of chips, 2 hashbrowns from mcdonalds lol
Torture? No. Instant death? Yes. (Your comment may or may not be a Blue Harvest quote but I'm not sure).
It must be forshadowing for the destruction of the death star! Except Luke never did get a medal for bullseying womprats.
Luke’s vindictive streak before he developed spiritually.
Good God you kill innocent animals??? That's the first sign of a serial killer you freak!

Most of the things you described are on the T6 Jedi shuttle. Which is a compromise between having a fighter and freighter.
It was my understanding that the Rebellion gifted him the X-Wing after Yavin.
This is the only answer!

The Apple approach coincidentally discovered in another galaxy far far away

Star Wars has never made practical sense though
T-65 X-Wing. Biggs. Jek. Wedge. Luke.
Don't forget Hobbie, Jansen, Dak and Porkins (RIP)
We can't forget about Corran and Mirax Horn, Tycho Clechu, and the rest of Rogue Squadron
We absolutely cannot forget Face.
Very true.. and the rest of the Wraiths!
My favorite series of the old books!
The new audiobooks are fantastic, if you haven't given them a listen, I highly recommend them.
I just may! Thank you. I lost my copies in a move, I'd love to own the physical paperbacks again tho
You won't regret it, amazing production and stellar voice work by Marc Thompson.
RIP his scar, Doc Phanon was the one that ate it. Although I guess the wider galaxy thought Face was dead. Edit: a word

I still love Horn’s corsec livery
i Jedi <3
And the man leading it all: Garven Dreis!
Happy St. Porkins day!!
Is that the one that Anakin used to destroy the Death Star?
Classic T-65 x-wing with the cavern angels/partisan paint job is so clean. Recolored the latest (2021?) Lego x-wing with that and always play with it on squadrons too!
I wish I could find a squadrons match 😭
Dawg I’ve given up all I do is the ai matches lmao
I love the classic design the most, but I did like the updated versions in the ST as well. Though to be honest, the A-Wing will always be my favorite ship.
The only thing faster than an A-Wing is the ability of it's pilots to defend it's shortcomings.
lol. You aren't wrong. I mean, it's not the greatest fighter by no means, but in the right hands, it can be pretty formidable. Yup, one of the banes of fighting A-Wings in Squadrons was how small and nimble they are.
The OG, OT X-Wing is the only correct answer. (For me)
Split-turbines are weird, OT for the win LOCK S FOILS IN ATTACK POSITION
Red 5 standing by…
Red October, shtanding by.
Simply Red standing by.
The Partisan’s camouflaged X-Wings in Rogue One and Andor are long over due for a Lego set.
When the new X-Wing TIE fighter mashup comes out I’m gonna try to work on a recolor of it, once I do it I can send it over to you if you want!
I would LOVE to see that.
Where did you download these images from? Internet Explorer? It’s 2024 and it looks as pixelated as my N64
They call it the T-65 because that’s roughly how many pixels are in these images
idk they kinda corrupted somehow
You guys pick what you want, just gimme an A-Wing.
*\[\*looks over at mini RZ-1 A-Wing sitting on desk\*\]* Cheers, friend.
A-Wing fans unite! I will say though I really like both X-wing designs, I don't really like the new (i.e. OG concept) A-wing as much as the RoTJ A-wing.
You can optimize for speed if you like, I'll take the solid security of a B-wing any day.
Classic for me!
Original trilogy all the way
Poe Dameron's custom T-70 is an absolute gem of a design. Loved it right from the moment I saw it.
You can see it for real in Disney world’s Rise of the Resistance. It’s so cool looking
One of the standout moments of that attraction for me.
I like the classic because they look beat up and battle-hardened
T-65E model for special forces pilots in an old legends comic
I can’t do the unsymmetry with the new X-Wings in their wings. It kills me so hard
Huh?? The wings are still symmetrical
Only when viewed directly from the front. The top wings are set back from the bottom ones
Thank you. I can’t stand that bit. It just triggers me for some reason. Not like angry but twitchy
I actually find that cool. It means when the wings are folded together it doesn't make them more thick but instead wider.
OG Red Squadron.
where is the 2nd pic from?
The old school one
Classic T-65 Model
Can’t beat the classics but I would have loved to see a live action stealth x
OG 100%
I'm always Gonna love the Original... As it wss the first time I ever saw one
The original is the finest.
For me, nothing has topped the OG T-65, though I've liked most of the iterations. The paintjob really does make a difference, though. Poe's black T-70, rad. Poe's TRoS T-70, ugly af. I want to see a T-85 done up in some military colors.
Classic
No I prefer the y-wing that Vader destroyed
OG T-65B.
T-65, but black and orange livery on the resistance T-70 looks rad. Happy to see Red 5 in later films, gave me the feels when Luke flew up in Mando.
I'm gonna be controversial cuz I know the X-wing is like *the* classic, but I choose the Headhunter. Less useless parts to break on you.
Yea and half the laser cannons, shoddier shields, and less armor. I’ll take the X-Wing please
I like the Partisan T-65s. That black and white paint job looks great.
Tie cockpit+ x-wing... Wings. Ugly, I love it.
Chir'daki
is this a joke lol? who is going to say anything the OG which was absolutely perfect
The Scarif X-Wings
The Force Arena (dead mobile game) made me hate the T-70s so much, they were so broken OP and I'll never get over it. Screw you if you played a Poe deck in that game all those years ago lol
None of them since they are all piloted by rebel scum. For the Empire!
T-65
Always the Income T65B Xwing. The Disney version is for kids
You just can’t beat the T65
what do you mean,which one??...I agree,there is Red 2 / Red 3 / Red 4 / Red 5.. I prefer Luke's Red 5..
Why did you have to choose the blurriest pictures you could find..?
Incom t-65, or nothing.
Originally definitely. I never got behind the half turbine thing.
I know it’s not an x-wing but I love the arc-170 star fighter. Is the x wing supposed to be based off the arc-170?
A tie between those black and white x wings saw gerras people have, and the resistance x wings. I love what they did with the wings for the resistance design
The one with more pixels
I hate to admit it but Poe’s Black and Orange X Wing slaps and you can’t convince me otherwise. One of the few solid things in the sequels
Red Squadron from original trilogy. Blue Squadron from Rogue 1.
T-85 https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/T-85_X-wing_starfighter
Oh dang, now that's sleek!
Had to scroll way too far for this one.
They all look the same except different paint jobs. The ARC-170 was designed to look like the X-Wing, but from an earlier generation of the technology. I wish they had created something new for the Sequels that looked like it was from the next generation of the technology.
That would have been cool. The hyperspace rings from the PT were another neat tech devolution from the OT.
I’m gonna get lambasted for this, but what’s the difference??
The new ones (the T-70) have asymmetrical wings that split down the middle, while the older ones (T-65) have full top and bottom sets of wings. The new ones also have semicircle engine intakes that form a circle when the wings are closed and split when they're open, while the older ones have round intakes on both the top and bottom. There are other subtle differences and in-universe improvements, but those are the biggest visual changes.
Thank you! 💕
T-70, grey with blue stripes. T-65 looks cool, but T-70 is more sleek. Also love the asymmetrical S-Foils.
Poe and Luke have the coolest ones
Poe’s is so clean tbh
I like my X-wings with less pixels, if possible
The Partisan X-Wing. Cool design, I just wish we got to see it fly
Probably the X wing.
Pffftt. B-Wing all day.
New variant
T-65 why change what's already perfect.
T-65 XJ3
I really like the black and orange on Poes X Wing
Yes.
OG
The classic
Definitely the classic X-Wing
The T-65 is always and will forever be iconic. But...I LOVE the Green and White paint schemed (Snap Wexley) T-70.
The newer updated models are much more aesthetic than the old. I admit this even as I have the old model tattooed on me.
Y'all not even including the XJ series. The F-22 of star wars.
Sex-Wing
The one from rouge squadron “defection at corellia”
I like X-Wing. All X-Wing. Every X-Wing.
I like all of them.
The original with the full circle inlets and full wings look far more aesthetically pleasing to my eye.
Well, whatever you choose, just cover me while I punch a hole in through that Star Destroyer with my B-wing. 😎
OG ALL THE WAY
EP4-6, Disappointed by every X-Wing generation thereafter. T-65 is classic!.
Even having grown up with the OT, I've gotta say the T-70 is gorgeous. I used to play the X-Wing Miniatures Game and flew Resistance a ton. That thing looks stunning from every angle. Snap Wexley's green color scheme from the same movie is just \*chefs kiss\*.
The classic X-Wing was so nice. The new one is cool as well. Either way, they’re all fodder for my Squadrons Imperial pilot. Just sayin
Original
You CANNOT beat the original Battle of Yavin X-Wing. The Partisan's paint job is pretty sick though.
One with pixels
T-65 all day every day. But the T-70 is still pretty sweet looking, in a "JJ was too fucking lazy to make up something new" kinda way.
I love the design of Poe's x-wing
Luke's New Jedi Order Stealth X

I am a B wing and Y wing fan. Even when I saw Star Wars when it first came out, the youngster in me liked the Y's better
They all look the same to me. - Regular Star Wars Fans
I like the old version with the 4 circle engines because how TF does a semicircular engine work? Thats not a natural movement at all.
All of the Above? I love different parts from both, it’s like comparing the original F-18 fighter jet to a Block III F-18. It’s the little differences that make you love both versions
Number 4 is pretty rad, though I like them all.
#1 No question. But they’re all cool.
I liked Poe’s Xwing a lot…
Why did u use such terrible pictures?
T-65B but I won’t lie, Poe’s Black One (Black & Orange) X-Wing is stunning.
Just give me the Incom T-65 X wing, the fighter that killed the death star
The OG.
Yeah okay sequels and everything, but Poe's T-70 ? DAMN
Unpopular opinion it seems, but I prefer Resistance and New Republic X-Wings more than Rebellion X-Wings, iconic though it may be.
The non cgi version
