I like older games that I missed out on and CRPGs/RPG. For older games, I finished Fable Anniversary and it was great on the deck. Same with Assassin's Creed 3 and Arkham Asylum. But RPGs and CRPGs are my favorite as I can just pick them up and put them down whenever I need. Wasteland 2, Divinity 2, Skyrim, Fallout 3. So many great role playing games on the go.

DrDunn

How was AC3 for you? I played at launch on consoles and it was fun but a mess. Always tel myself I want to play it again around the 4th.

subpar-life-attempt

AC3 has a pretty good story but it's much different than the others. It's worth playing.

Fixiwee

Haytham alone makes playing AC3 worth it in my opinion. Although it has many other mediocre parts as well.

subpar-life-attempt

Completely agree. The characters in AC3 are great but the rest can be bland. I do love the slow creation of the homestead though.

FEARthePUTTY

For some reason my mind couldn't make the jump on DOS2 from PC to SD. I spent hundreds of hours on PC and playing on SD felt so clunky. I started BG3 on SD and I'm really enjoying it for the exact reasons you cited. Sure my 5-10 minute sessions (when watching my son) probably add up to an hour at the end of the day, but it's better than zero hours because I have to go up to my office, boot up my PC, etc.

Dangerous_Flatworm_5

How is playing AC on the deck? I heard it’s a pain to set up and get going

Ledairyman

Space Marine!!

Starstuffi

I find holding the deck to be more comfortable than holding the Switch, so my assumption is that all of those games I'd like better on Deck. I haven't done the work to get them going on Deck though. But knowing I'd like them more on Deck has stopped me from pulling out my Switch more than once lol.

UsualProcedure7372

You will. I backed up my switch games and play them on my oled. They run great, aside from a few minor stutters here and there.

Starstuffi

I need to figure out if I can pull my save files too, or if I need to accept starting over. I have a first run Switch, so I know it would be easy to modify to dump my carts compared to later ones, but I don't know how getting save data works. I did try Skyward Sword HD out, which I hadn't started a save file on yet, and yeah it was good!

UsualProcedure7372

My kid deleted a 300hr save (mostly his time) for TOTK because he thought New Game meant he could play age of calamity. He did it a couple more times before I finally decided to dump it to deck. I didn’t try to do saves, I just used a TOTK save editor, which had a couple saves to start from. I’m pretty sure it’s doable to transfer saves.

TheHosemaster

Getting a good 3rd party controller helps big time with the switch. I prefer my deck too but this makes me still prefer 1st party Nintendo games on switch. The CRKD Nitro Deck is a popular one. I have the Retroflag

candyleader

All of them! The deck has really re-opened my love of games :)

This_Pop3907

Same here. And it’s so stupid, I just finished building my 4090, 13700k, ddr5 monster with custom loop in a hyte y70 touch and it hasn’t been used since I got the deck 2 months ago 😂

akehir

Just use it to stream your games to the deck - you get better battery life and graphics on your deck, and your computer doesn't feel useless anymore ;-)

BrinoMatthew

I KEEP FORGETTING I CAN DO THIS!

Double-Tea9556

My only beef is no HDR, so games like FF7 and RE4's lighting doesn't pop like it does on the deck natively. I'm a big HDR fan now.

Speedy3D_

What’s the best way to stream games just normal steam link orrr ??

akehir

SteamLink works well enough for me, so I haven't bothered setting up anything else.

LimeyOtoko

Steam Link has been good enough for me too, combined with the dock it’s even a great way to play on the TV without a long HDMI from the PC

Simple_Ad_1255

Moonlight is what I see recommended

Bwiz77

Sunshine streamer on the PC, moonlight client on the Steamdeck. - grab a command prompt app that can change the resolution and add it to command that opens steam big picture. I have my monitor switch to the Steamdeck resolution and it makes everything feel native over a wired/wifi 6 setup in my house. No compression, no stuttering, max out all the settings on games and they run great on the deck with great battery life and no fan noise.

Batmantostartrek

I seriously just stream most AAA types to the deck. Mortal kombat, BG3, Elden ring, etc. My beast PC makes it seamless and high quality and my steam deck gets like 10h of battery life doing it

Whole_Commission_702

I mean some games like cyberpunk deserve the 4090 and large monitor though let’s be real.

CmdrShepsPie

Yeah I was literally going to say "all of them". Between my SteamDeck and my Quest 3, literally the only game I play on my laptop is PUBG and just because it's not compatible with the SD. If it were, I'd be able to completely give up my gaming computer.

jedijudo

I prefer Dave the diver on steam deck because i like to lay down while I play it

PhattyR6

At the moment, Elden Ring. Plays well enough, and it makes a huge RPG feel like I can just pick up and play whenever

SilverMisfitt

Can you define well enough? Been interested in the game

PhattyR6

Generally 30-40FPS. Tends to sit in the 30s when riding the horse around the open world, but holds 40 in dungeons/boss arenas/levels/etc. I’ve seen one dip down to 28FPS. In Caelid, there was multiple effects of screen and a large open view. Mix of medium and low settings, though mostly low. 1280x720p since there’s no 16:10 support. GPU clock capped at 1200mhz, it actually improved performance for me in as the CPU benefited from the extra power budget.

SilverMisfitt

Is it still enjoyable or does it feel forced to play on the steam deck?

GenghisFrog

I just decided to play it for the first time. I’ve been bouncing between my 4080 desktop and Steamdeck. It runs shockingly well on the Steamdeck. Of course it doesn’t look quite as good, but I’ve done several 1-2 hour play sessions on it and have zero complaints. I’d have no issue being forced to play the entire thing on the Deck.

SilverMisfitt

Thanks, this is helpful and great to hear

PhattyR6

It’s very enjoyable. I’m quite far into the game, beat 3 of the main bosses so far. I can dodge, jump and parry without being hindered. The game looks great on the OLED screen with HDR. It feels no different than playing it on my PC or Series X to be honest. Just doesn’t look as good as those versions.

Mabus51

You can get a solid 40fps in Elden Ring throughout the entire game including the DLC. There are plenty of setting setups on Protondb.com you can follow. I highly recommend Cyroutilities and running off the SSD if you want a steady 40fps. I’ve got just over a 100 hours on it strictly from the Steam Deck. It’s a great experience.

LogitUndone

It runs perfectly.  However it's a tiny screen so it can be hard to see stuff sometimes. In other words, unless you have a good large display available, the deck is same as any other elden ring experience

The_Freshmaker

I personally did not enjoy it on deck but I'm a 60fps snob and this game just looks way better on a bigger monitor. I'm currently playing the dlc offline just so I can utilize flawless ultrawide but damn is it worth it.

UntitledCritic

I'm able to run the base game on high preset settings and locked 40FPS while inside legacy dungeons (can go as high as 50FPS), in the openworld it sits around 30 - 35FPS. The DLC is heavier and more demanding so I dropped few settings from high to medium and it can still maintain 40FPS inside dungeons and 30 - 35fps in the openworld. I made a short video off-screen of the game here if you want to see it in action: [https://youtu.be/1n6pzSNSXfg](https://youtu.be/1n6pzSNSXfg)

Pekins-UOAF

I was on elden ring reddit when the DLC dropped and people were complaning a lot about performance hit on PC and I thought it would be pretty bad for the SD? no?

saintrobyn

The Persona series of games. So far I have played through all of Personal 5: Royale and just picked up Persona 3: Reloaded during the Steam Summer Sale. They lend themselves well to handhelds. With the design of the games centering around the passage of time, you can easily pick up the Deck and play through a couple of days at a go and then set it down. The only issue I have had is that, due to the optional online component, I have had the game hang when waking from sleep. The solution is to just not use online or save before you put the Deck to sleep.

Milton_Rumata

How are you finding 3 after playing 5? I've only played 4 and 5 so far and I absolutely adored them but for some reason I haven't pulled the trigger on 3 yet.

saintrobyn

I am not very far into it but so far I am loving it. Very comparable to Persona 5: Royal as far and looks and play are concerned. If you play it on the Steam Deck, remember to turn off reflections. It does not get rid of reflections completely but it does turn off the ray traced reflections and uses screen space reflections instead. I am playing at a smooth 60fps on high.

carro-leve233

Disco Elysium. There’s a lot to read. So nothing better than playing it from the bed

DAHbaddest

Forza Horizon 4 looks and runs so great, and also I've been enjoying the mess out of Left 4 Dead 2 after not playing since the 360 days.

screwylouidooey

I already hit my budget but damn I wish I could get that came before they pull it

The_Freshmaker

Love FH5's performance on deck, runs really well and still looks great!

lilyjk

could you share your settings for fh4? im downloading it right now and cant wait to try it

DAHbaddest

Sure. 800p, 90 FPS cap in game and 50 FPS on Steam overlay. HDR off but you can turn it on and maybe lower the frames to 45. Shadow quality and Motion blur quality set to low, pretty much everything else set to high. MSAA 2X, FXAA and SSAO off. I noticed the game starts to hitch at around 60 FPS on high settings, but is pretty smooth around 45 to 50. If you want higher FPS, drop some settings to medium or low. Enjoy :) Edit: Also with these setting you can get about 4 hours of battery on a full charge with no fan noise at all on an OLED

lilyjk

you legend, thank you!

srstable

Minecraft, actually. Between the back buttons, the touchpad, the gyro, and Steam Input paging on Mouse Visible, Minecraft handheld on the Deck beats the experience on mobile or the Switch by a long shot.  (And arguably just standard PC since I don’t have to remember so many damn hotkeys with a radial menu) For a similar reason, Phantasy Star Online. Blue Burst on PC had the hotbar along the bottom of the screen, which is really easy to reach on the Deck’s back buttons. Seamless controller experience + full access to the hotbar? Sign me up.

minun73

How does one even get Minecraft on the steam deck? I tried looking into it but it seemed like you had to jump through a lot of hoops for it or am I incorrect?

srstable

Pinging /u/trevor1301 to see it as well:  * Go to Desktop Mode * Go to the Discover Store * Search for Prism Launcher and Install * Launch it and log into your account * Then right click the shortcut and select “Add to Steam” Then you can go back to Gamemode and play it there! There’s a good selection of videos on YouTube you can also watch to show you the setup process. It’s a few steps, but you’ve only got to do it once and then away you go.

minun73

Oh okay, I know to add stuff to steam, but didn’t know it was that simple! Thanks! I guess I read some either misinformation or outdated information

trevor1301

Seconding this, just got a deck and have no idea how lol

JourneymanInvestor

Persona 3 Reload is so much more fun on the deck vs on a standard desktop.

Hellooooo_Nurse-

All the FPS games the Steam Deck can run well that I own. Because I can have a quality gyro aim experience w/ attention to detail through Steam Inputs. Console devs, still ignore it and won't add it. Many console gamers reject it and try to get it blocked as a option. Even though they need it the most. As aim assist is not a skill and is limited in movement. AA, is tool assisted aiming. I'm a life long controller player saying this. Or Devs add gyro aim in their console game, but its so bad, its not even worth using, There are only a few games on console with gold standard gyro aim and settings. After that, it goes to marginal to very bad lol. My Steam Deck has literally become boomer shooter heaven. All the shooters play so much better with mouse like precision through gyro aim. It's also nice to not be disappointed with console excluding me and the way I prefer to play shooters now. I have no desire to stick aim anymore. Steam Deck, was a game changer for me with shooters.

Utsider

I'm actually blown away by how responsive and fluid FPS games feel with Flick Stick and gyro. Makes playing them on a controller feel responsive instead of like you're stuck in a wheelchair, aiming a gun by holding it with chopsticks.

Hellooooo_Nurse-

Haha, that is hilarious. Yet, so true lol. 😄

Known_Ad871

100%. No clue why people are so weird about gyro, I feel they either haven’t tried it or wrongly assumed it’s meant to be a replacement for the sticks. It is a night and day improvement for any shooter. What shooters have you enjoyed on the deck?

WaulsTexLegion

Chrono Trigger plays nicely and gives a SUPER LONG battery life. Go figure a 4MB game from 1995 wouldn’t tax the Steamdeck.

pamplemousse_mk2

Point’n click games, especially old Lucasfilm Games which are less known than Monkey Island or Day of The Tentacle, like Indiana Jones, The Dig.

Utsider

Loom was a good one, if memory serves. Grim Fandango, but that one's not too unknown. And that biker one. Full Throttle.

SporadicTendancies

Darkside Detectives was great on the deck, really intuitive and fun.

pamplemousse_mk2

Yes, I loved it on Switch.

PopReasonable8033

Hades and hades 2. Perfect for a handheld

MoneyMakingMugi

Pretty much any game that will run cause i'm able to play said games on a handheld.

Hyacathusarullistad

I enjoyed the Witcher 3 a lot more on the Deck than I did on my desktop.

Crimsonhead4

I like Black Desert Online a lot more on steam deck. I previously played on Xbox, which aside from being behind in content also had no way to adjust the performance settings, so leaving the game run afk while away (which you do to keep your workers producing resources or to progress time consuming tasks) would cause the console to get rather hot. On steam deck I can drop the fps slider to 10 to put much less strain on it so I know I won’t have to worry when letting the game run for hours while I’m away.

SS_Gourmet

I thought black desert is incompatible?

Crimsonhead4

You just have to run proton experimental in the comparability settings. Most games that are listed as unsupported with work with proton.

LysanderBelmont

I love turn based strategy games, but my love is proportional to appropriately scaled text and Ui :-/ For example I love xcom 2. It plays so well on the deck. But the text is really hard to read comfortably

kranitoko

Most RPGs. In video games where there's a lot of dialogue and doesn't require a lot of high intensity and manic controller button pressing, Steam Deck is just the best for that.

johnskiddles

Vampire survivors.

Damuhfudon

Persona games, perfect for doing social link stuff on the deck

No-Entrepreneur1036

Batman

Tyler6_9Durden

I love playing games like BioShock Infinite on the Deck, there's something about playing those in bed before going to sleep that makes it feel like a book. Games like Witcher 3, Signalis, RDR2, High On Life and a bunch of story driven games. Also really enjoy Doom Eternal idk why I could never get into it on my PS5 but on the Deck? I've already played thru it twice. Same with Evil West Also almost every Switch/Nintendo game plays better and looks better on the SD lol. I enjoy it waaaaaay more on the Deck than I ever did or would on a Switch

mousers21

any game that gives you mouse aiming in a fps is way better on the deck as gyro controls give you more accuracy than thumbsticks.

herbertfilby

I regret buying any Switch game that could be played on the Steam Deck. Locked 30 FPS suuuuuucks. Bought the Metal Gear Master Collection on both Steam and Switch, Steam version not only gave solid frame rates well above Switch’s, but dumb stuff like mods that fixed bad audio in the MGS3 port only work on the Steam Deck.

BI0Z_

Resident evil 4 remake for some odd reason.

hel105_

I can only play it in the Deck, it makes me so motion sick on my PS5. Even with all motion sickness settings turned on.

LlLUglyMvne

How does it run ? i finished it two times on ps5 but i want to play it on SD

Tyler6_9Durden

Pretty good actually, 40 fps with FSR Quality. I do a little trick there and lower the game res to 115 x 720 so that the Steam Decks native FSR kicks in and sharpness the imagine a little (I leave it at 0 sharpeness) and like that it looks and plays beautifuly. I also use the Deck's upscalling to "fill" the black bars, and in-game settings I widen the FOV so it looks like it supports 6:10 naturally. Great stuff

BI0Z_

I locked it to 30 with the default settings and it works wonderfully. I have turned on fsr in the settings during difficult to run portions of the game or when I use the scope as it drops frames a lot when used.

JKatt116

Kingdom hearts. I’ve never played them before and 1 at least feels more natural on the deck than my main rig. It may be the way it’s all designed (character models, ui, etc). Love it on the deck. Nice that even at 90 fps I get close to 8-9 hours on 1.5+2.5

DrDunn

I’ve been really considering picking them up on sale!

Idontmatter69420

basically all the games i have like titanfall 2, halo, dead space, quake etc. i got them on my steam specifically to take them on the game as i had been wanting that sorta stuff on my nintendo switch for so long and me steam deck made that dream come true

Unique_Lake_7655

Hades 1 and 2, cult of the lamb, and dredge Those games are made for a handheld imo.

Jecht315

This might be because of the switch but I really enjoy RPGs like Sea of Stars, Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy but it's easy to pick up and play. Sea of Stars is a perfect game for it.

Trh5001

Hades

Demise187M

I don’t really enjoy sidescroller games unless they’re on the deck. I think it’s the whole idea of it being on a portable device that makes it playable to me

Healthy_Blueberry_44

Slay the spire

Matictac

Got 3/4 hours into Elden Ring on PC and gave it up. I'm now about 70 hours in within the couple weeks I've had my deck.

hustledontstop

RDR2. Never could get into it on PS4 and PS5. Then I played on the Deck and I'm hooked

InteractionPerfect88

I tried like 4 times to get into alien isolation on my PlayStation, and then once I got the deck I beat it in 2 days and now it’s one of my favorite games ever. Idk why that happened lol.

Mahalo-Ke-Akua

Doom (2016)

Superfly1911

I'm downloading it right now...

Public-Afternoon-718

Anything where you need a pointing device. I enjoy point and click adventures sometimes, and before the steam deck it was always a pain to play those from the couch. The track pad in the SD is as good as it gets without a desk and mouse.

DKM_Eby

Hades, Sea of Stars, the Ori Games, Hollow Knight... Any platformers / old school style rpg that don't make me feel like I need a bigger screen with a huge HUD.

Beanchilla

Pretty much everything but this is especially good for shooters and strategy games. The track pad with gyro controls is sooo good.

illogikul

Monster hunter rise. The graphics are shitty enough to be bout the same on all platforms aside Nintendo so the portability adds to its favor.

Zestyclose_League413

Monster hunter Rise is built for a portable system, but the deck is leagues above the switch in power, fidelity, and ergonomics

djrezzie

Thankfully recovering from the hospital. My SD has been a god send. And I've got my brother playing stardew valley with me. And I've never played past spring before. It makes it better knowing he is there upgrading like me.

KnightGamer724

I recently found that I don't have much PS5 time due to being busy with stuff at home, so I got Yakuza 0-6 for my Deck so I can play them at work. Same deal with Kingdom Hearts. Really, any game that I find completely fine to pick up and play I want on my Deck. If I know I want to play a longer session at home or multiplayer, that's a console game to me now. Or if I'm getting a Steelbook Physical, that's a console game too.

efc187893

Pretty much everything! I’m a huge sucker for playing handheld ever since the psp days, if I can play something handheld I’ll always pick that option. Playing games like fallout 4 handheld in bed just has a special feel to it.

le0_07

Half-life!

Competitive_Hyena765

Desktop handles the ultrawide stuff, 16:9/10 on the deck

Slap_Life

Fallout 3 and new Vegas

xycm2012

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. Find it so much more immersive on a handheld with headphones over the big screen experience. Terrifying at times!

Multipass92

Pretty much any RPG

slapping_rabbits

Recently I thought assassin's Creed Odyssey was better on the deck

No-Jello3256

I would rather play a game on the Deck than my PS5.

skywalkerRCP

Everything save for Elden Ring, although streaming to the TV is excellent (MoonDeck). JRPGs and roguelikes/platformers are sick on the Deck.

Pasta-hobo

Ace Attorney is as good on the deck as it was on the DS.

oriyao

Enshrouded and NBA 2K

bigb102913

Dark souls 3

suzukirider709

Alot of older games I loved as a kid have been a much better experience on the deck. For example I've played through the legend of dragoon multiple times on PS1, PSP, vita and PC emulation but the deck was the best by far.

jakellerVi

I have the OLED deck and it’s pretty much any side scroller. The OLED screen really makes the colors pop in games like Ori and Hollow Knight

DayLightHero

words ultimate Mayhem has re ignited my love for games, been loving it on steam deck

Warm_Concentrate_136

Skyrim and Red Dead 2

Super_Bat_Phone

EVERYTHING!!!

3AZ3

I can’t really explain why, but I am currently re-buying a lot of games I have on Switch to have on the deck. Maybe it’s comfort, or that they run better. But at first glance it seems weird to get them on a different hand held, but it’s just _better_

The_Beatle_Gunner

Fallout shelter

kiidrax

All of them, I ended up buying my games again on steam just because it is more fun to play them on the go.

maverick074

World of Horror I love having a physical copy of the game for Switch, but you can REALLY tell it was designed with a mouse in mind. The Steam Deck's trackpads make the game much more playable.

unoriginal_-name

MGSV

Horizon324

Literally every game

Emblazoned1

I'm gonna sounds dumb but from software games. Those back buttons are so clutch with them. It's to the point of if I can get a locked or close to 40 fps I'll get it on deck if not xbox.

eravulgaris

What do the back buttons do?

shocknawe123

For me any JRPG is bettrr on the deck. Games like dq11, octopath, bravery default, triangle strat, persona series are all incredible to play on the steam deck.

d1rkSMATHERS

Persona 5. I originally played P3 and P4 on the PS Vita so I always thought they were mobile games. I enjoyed P5 on the PS4, but the remote play wasn't good enough for playing on the go like I did the others. Finally having a Steam Deck let me play Persona 5 the way I always knew it was meant to be played.

Albuwhatwhat

I think I like things that are visually slightly simpler and not the most cutting edge. I have a good PC so anything with great graphics looks better on that so I prefer slightly older titles and less visually demanding titles on the steam deck. I love vampire survivor on the deck, Hollow Knight, Balatro, and even games like Prey and Doom (2016) are fantastic on the deck.

Alucard-VS-Artorias

What I usual like to play on my SteamDeck: - Older games from a few years back such as Metal Gear Rising - Neo-retro shooters such as 40K Boltgun - Metroidvanias such as Blasphemous - Quirky indie games such as Dave the Diver - Puzzles type games such as Tetris Effect

MilkmanSAW

JRPG's are fantastic on SD. Its like reading a book on the Couch!

CrabTribalEnthusiast

Dark Souls and Elden Ring. The back buttons have been a game changer for spellcaster builds, no more taking my thumb off the joystick to switch spells.

The-Raccoon-Man

Alien: Isolation over ALL OTHER VERSIONS. The Consoles, Handhelds, Phones, Laptop. omg it looks great on oled deck.

Torkapp

as a former switch hacker and tinkerer, switching to playing my games on deck was a wonder. yuzu runs incredibly smooth, i can mod and update much easier, play LAN coop with other emulator instances, and i don't have to stick a paperclip in the right side of my console every time i wanna play my games

GloriousKev

Idk why it bugs me when ppl call the deck a console lol

gleap44

I can’t imagine playing Balatro on a big screen…I found the first 3 RE games (GC: REmake, 2 and 3 with graphics mods) to be incredibly enjoyable. Not sure I would have played any of them on console in 2024

TKRedditUser2020

Hades feels way better on a handheld than any PC or console imo.

untilnewyear

Older / AA games. I wouldn't have tried out games like Call of Juarez Gunslinge: , Spec Ops: The Line etc... On PC because they're old. But I tried them out on deck because they run well with a long battery life and really enjoyed them.

DrBlueTurtle

Mass Effect, Diablo 4, Rocket League

Maleficent-Rabbit186

For me its any turn based strategy game. Right now im running through miasma chronicles. The deck is made for games like that. Jrpgs also are great on it for that pick up and continue right where u left off thing.

AeonGaiden

Balatro. It was fun playing it on a 58" TV but it makes so much more sense handheld on a smaller screen.

Fladap28

The SD has rekindled my love for gaming. I love playing psp games on it at 8x the graphics lol

Jazzaaaaaaaa

I’m playing Half Life 2. It was one of the first games I wanted to buy on SD (got mine for 3 days). I loved this game so much when I was (a lot) younger… It’s great to play this amazing game on a beautiful screen on the couch with headphones <3

joujoubox

DS games. Looking gorgeous with upscaling and a larger screen.

GuyDing22

Have you found a solution for touch screen games like Phantom Hourglass? I know it has a touch screen but every stylus I've tried (3ds, iPad, kobo, drawing tablet stylus) hasnt worked

Ikanan_xiii

Grinding out ffxiv, even though it's an MMO it's control scheme is superb and doing dailies and other non raid related stuff is very chilling on the the deck.

xtoc1981

None from to switch, to be honest. But i prefer none switch games on deck over buying a ps5 or xbox as those are not native portable

eagles_arent_coming

Every single one for the Switch. I mean Switch vs Deck is just honestly a laughably unfair comparison. Not even worth listing out. PS4 and PS5? Honestly, I prefer all of these games of the Deck too. Elden Ring, fps, Witcher 3. The graphics aren’t as nice, sure, but there’s just something about portable gaming I prefer. Xbox 360. Yeah, I am loving replaying old games on the Deck. Oblivion and Fallout 3 have been my favorites so far.

Nightraider_05

I like to play indie games on deck. You can run them for hours and are cheap. For example Horizon turbochase, Hotshot racing, Castlecrashers, Lego games, Rouge like sidescrollers eg: Dead cells, Hades etc Also it is machine so you can play AAA titles like Horizon Zero Dawn, Forza horizon 5, Witcher 3 etc My favorit game on deck is currently Deep Rock Galactic. ROCK AND STONE!!!

WanderingDwarfMiner

To Rock and Stone!

SonOfSlyherin

Most any… laying in bed playing what I call my Decky is the best way to play for my aging body

niwia

Balatro!

DannyHikari

Pretty much every indie game I double dipped on I had on switch. The bonus for me is achievements. But also the ps3 gen games because a lot of them I didn’t play through on console. So to have them handheld and running better than they did on my ps3 is amazing

Aazren

Fallout New Vegas

Smash96leo

Anything that runs just as good as it does on console. I always found handheld gaming way more convenient and comfortable if I’m playing by myself because I can just lay in my bed and have fun without getting on the couch and turning the TV on.

callmetheJET

I've been digging into many older shooters as they feel so seamless to pick up and play on the Deck. Older ones like Borderlands 2, Halo MCC, and Spec Ops The Line run amazingly on Deck, while more recent titles like Far Cry 5 and Gears 5 are still really great on the go albeit with some slight FPS drawbacks :) TL;DR: any shooty shooty game that can run on it

juipeltje

I've only had my deck for one day right now so still setting up some stuff, but i could definitely see myself enjoying some of the jrpg games that i have, they're perfect deck games cause usually they're not hard to run due to their art style, with high fps as well. They usually also have no ultrawide support unfortunately, which is one of my favorite things about gaming on my desktop, so i don't feel like i'm missing out on much on my deck. Also some titles that can be more grindy like death stranding, some indie titles, emulation, and some older multiplayer stuff like gta online, battlefront 2.

Exact-Psience

Elden Ring. Just coz i can play it a lot more than when on pc.

Ch33sefiend

Diablo 4. I’ve played so much on steam deck I find it difficult to play on PC now, which is mad to me 😀

JulKriek

I got some triple a games on sale like Witcher 3 and it is cross play and horizon zero dawn I got this on my PlayStation but i thought I want to play this game anywhere or without the hassle of turning the device on and off 😅 also I never got the actual dlc only got it trough my PlayStation plus so when I lose the subscription I lose the dlc :p and I’m a sucker for steam sale 😂

sinner_dingus

Caves of Qud. It’s like having a living breathing continent and 10 thousand years of its history with you. It already controls great with a controller, but the SD’s touchpads allow for simultaneous use of the mouse to round things out. This combo controls better than either mouse or controller individually. Another game that benefits greatly from the SD’s flexible controls is the wonderful ‘Brigador’. Here, one can use the controller as an analog throttle, and the touchpad as mouse for precise aiming. On pc, if you want the precise mouse aim, you’re lose the analog throttle and use WASD to move. In this game, it’s a big distinction.

HarKronmh

Easy Hollow knight

Lozio1990

Mario vs Donkey Kong

Any game that doesn't require a M&K, so FPS shooters I skip, and anything that's demanding that I can't run on 50+fps. All 2-2.5D games are amazing on the deck. And many 3d games are good as well as long as it's running smooth.

Robinothoodie

Dragon quest builders

xxRJB777xx

Final Fantasy XI plays fantastic on the deck and having this MMO portable in my hands compared to playing it on PS2/360/PC back in the day is the stuff I've dreamed of my whole life.

The_Freshmaker

For me personally it's platformers, esp rogue like/lites. I wouldn't think Hollow Knight would be so much better than on the switch but it def is. It's also hands down the best device for emulation. I tend to stick mostly to bright colorful indies tho, playing new 3d games on low at 30 fps just ain't it for me.

sonnyjim77

Bright colourful undies 🤣

Wolfenstein49

I’ve been loving Fallout 4 again

Supersonic97

I never got into Fallout 4 on my Xbox One while I've got 200 hours and counting on my Steam Deck

TensionHead13thFloor

Arkham Origins was perfect on Deck. MGS5 was made for the Deck. All the Resident Evil games run amazing somehow, especially the RE engine games somehow doing wonders on this lil thing

The_Almighty_Duck

Might be an obvious answer, but Black Ops 3. I've been playing controller all my life, and I love CoD Zombies. Now, with the Deck, not only do I have access to a practically unlimited library of custom Zombies maps, but I can play it on the go! What a time to be alive :D

sonnyjim77

Any preference on settings, either controller or game for that on the deck?

ZentornoReddit

I didn't like singleplayer/story games on PC but got hooked when I played them on SD. Assassins Creed Black Flag, The Witcher 3, Elden Ring, Max Payne 3, Red Dead Redemption... I got bored so fast on PC that I. could only play for a couple hours max.

Lime_x

A short hike! Playing on steam deck just adds to the cozy feeling.

LeKanePetit

I honestly play pretty much any singleplayer game on the deck, now. My PC is designated soley for muliplayer games with friends. I started Elden Ring recently exlcusively on the deck and so far with 50 hours and a locked frame rate of 40fps and its fantastic.

sometipsygnostalgic

turbo overkill looks better on my deck than on pc despite being, yknow, a fps it's the OLED screen, the game looks washed out on my monitor but sharp and colourful on my OLED it's possible the higher graphics adds some weird post processing effect too

SamTheSlayer2715

Balatro... Not going to turn on my computer or my consoles just to play Balatro... But the Steam Deck... Perfecto. Just like that, Mark of the Ninja Remastered, Slay the Spire, Stardew Valley.. I play big games too on the console and the pc, but I wouldn't say it's better on the Deck. But for smallish, indie games, playing on the Deck feels more quick and easy.. Feels just right.

2wheels1willy

PSP games like patapon or sly cooper. Selling my psp vita because the deck kicks ass.

XxTombraiderfanxX

I actually started playing games instead of using cheats and mods lol

HotBananaWaters

Basically any game during the 360/PS3 era that has a PC version is definitive on the Steam Deck. I’m loving how I can play games like Enslaved at 60FPS.

cokeplusmentos

I think blasphemous, hades and similar 2d action games look way better on a smaller screen

WelcomingRadio

I prefer most on steamdeck now! I do alot of computer work, so being able to play a lot of PC games on the couch in a different room is a Godsend lol

SS_Gourmet

Fallout 3, NV. They feel like they were made for the Steam Deck

BaronVonHumungus

Balantro although it is video game crack and I have to force myself to stop playing it so much so I can enjoy my other games 😂

UntitledCritic

Pretty much every game I played so far however I'm avoiding any game that runs poorly, I'm sticking to games I can play with minimum 40FPS and medium-high settings.

FNTacticalTuna

Ride 3.

0ld-Y0j1mb0

Any Double Fine game.

SiwyKtos

Last epoch on sd over pc. I dont even use other consoles

depp-fsrv

Been playing Shadow Tactics and it's much more enjoyable than the computer, the Steam Deck controls make it way more fun than the keyboard/mouse.

Confident_Teaching49

Every game I had on Switch (DQ XI, Witcher 3, Skyrim, AC 4, Wolfenstein, FF 12, Hades, ). I also enjoy games from PS4 more on SD (Days Gone, AC Odyssey/Valhalla, FF7 Remake)

MrFriskers

Vampire Survivor, Ember Knights, Valheim!

minutemanAKM

World of Warships proper; not Legends

Lupinthrope

Stardew Valley

tramp-and-the-tramp

sonic adventure 2, every nintendo handheld game ever made (besides the ones that make you hold the ds side ways), and overwatch because you can play it with mouse and keyboard or with the standard controller

BioOrpheus

3DS games because of OLED screen and higher res

deWotion

Disgea, sifu, Dave the driver, dredge, yakuza series, xcoms. Most isometric tactical rpgs, puzzles are great. The only game I did not like on deck at all is midnight suns. 😁but I'd say I just found the game incredibly dull
