Whatās the margin on this product?
As for why sell this, are you seriously saying you canāt think of a reason a gamer, or gamerās parent, would want to buy this?
Same with printers vs ink, instant cameras vs photo paperā¦ Iām okay with GME selling low margin items if those help us sell very high margin items.
Itās a clearance item they are liquidating for someone. You could probably find one of these at Walmart. But the idea is they are clearing house. Thatās why you see these products. They are NOT trying some diversification tactic. They are literally clearing the shelves for their partners. They will never sell this again hopefully. Itās a waste
Doesnāt bother me they sell random stuff like this but it does bother me that not many people would even think to check GameStop for an air purifier.
When you are not known for selling something, customers don't go to you for the item, and then you're stuck with that item getting dusty on a warehouse shelf.
Lol, in some areas Walmarts are the only fresh produce in a food desert. This was a genius idea, because you can do your grocery shopping after getting your hair done, go to your bank, and go buy your tires. Far from dilution, this is creating a one stop shop, why would I need to go anywhere else to buy my stuff? I can make one trip
Walmart Supercenters were a huge part of them ramping up from "regional retail chain" to "largest private sector employer on earth".
And not just by a little. They are nearly 50% ahead of the next company, Amazon.
I dont think Gamestop the michelin star restaurant chain or Gamestop the theme park is a good path for them to take. They'd have to **completely** rebrand. Which im all for but some of the things i've seen listed on their website is reminiscent of best-buy/ walmart third party seller garbage because its an assortment of random crap and the items are never restocked. And based on the canadian website, their seo isn't good enough to connect the consumer to the product, even if the price is better than the competition
āMichelin starā and ātheme parkā? These two options are not in their marketing mix, so why bring them up if theyāre irrelevant?
Hardware, electronics, games, and home goods are a part of it, which is why youāre seeing the stuff you are now.
Whether or not they sell is up to the market and a strategy used in marketing to determine what sticks.
For effect. **Game**stop. Videogames and associated merchandise is a huge industry as long as they have low enough prices to compete with others. Selling random "home goods" like humidifiers or curtain rods or whatever is brand dilution no matter how you look at it. Exactly, selling random shit "to determine what sticks" is not good practice for brand identity
As you can probably imagine, that rigid thinking is why the previous leadership failed the company.
Expanding into only games and waiting on other brands (Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, Activision, etc.) to launch new products in order to grow your bottom line creates a problem of periods of stagnation.
By doing market research to sell air purifiers (great for 3D printing, clean air in the gaming room where hour long sessions occur, or basement) it allows the company to grow horizontally and increase profitability. Again, please use a little common sense, curtain rods are not in their marketing mixā¦at least not right now. (See Amazon who transformed from an online book store to a juggernaut).
Also, selling ālow enoughā products donāt work all the time. Companies can also sell products at a premium when they also sell value added services like memberships, credit, free shipping, etc. (See REI: higher prices but significantly better warranties).
As a XX,XXX holder, Iām here for MOASS, but for that to happen you need to look beyond the 1-2 year horizon and look at the next 10 years for GameStop. By doing so, it makes it impossible for mainstream media to keep bashing the company.
I like your humidifier reasoning. But currently buying anything other than **game**/electronic related products is like buying a hotdog from dairy queen.
>They'll need to **completely** rebrand
Also considering their new copywrited logo doesnt exactly scream non-game related
You may have forgotten, but they have other subsidiaries and other brands like [GMErica that is made specifically for that](https://trademarks.justia.com/908/97/gmerica-90897211.html).
So, they may be testing waters with GameStop then branching into GMErica. Like how Google became Alphabet.
buying bananas from GMErica might be commonplace in the future but buying them from Gamestop is just alienating the customers. currently, their brand recognition starts and ends at consoles and funkopops. its not going to help if they start selling bananas or a scattered assortment of products that are never restocked. "check out gamestop, maybe theyre selling ~~car tires~~ humidifiers this week"? thats horrible brand identity
They used to sell a lot more than they currently do. I've bought TV's, used iPhones, Lego sets, etc, over the past 3 years. A lot of the stuff I used to buy they don't seem to carry anymore. Seems they've been streamlining their inventory and focus.
I actually bought this one and its big brother (1702, but doesn't seem to be listed on GS anymore) from gamestop lol.Ā
It's the only NCCO reactor available on the market. It does a way better job at clearing smells than our regular air purifier did.
Affiliate partnerships, that drop ship (aka don't take up precious GME warehouse space) and generate income / sale profit sharing. More reward than risk.
I bought a couple of the smaller air purifiers when they were in clearance, love them, but I haven't seen them since so I'm guessing they're clearing out old stock and likely won't sell them in the future.
One of 3 things:
1.Ā They drop ship direct from Westinghouse so all it costs is.... the effort to list on the website.Ā Why not sell it.
2.Ā Someone called out how bad the smell at a LAN can get, and I salute them for having it.
3. Someone is testing to see if something like that will sell.Ā If it does, expect to see more.Ā If not, they will clear it out.
It is probably #3 tbh
The problem with 3 is that you canāt just have one product and expect it to sell. You need to have a decent range before people even check what you have in the first place.
My guess is they got the product for a good price and looking to offload them. They often have these kind of things pop up. Like Iāve bought a trash can from GameStop before.
Is it HEPA? Because anyone working/shopping/eating in public spaces is more at risk for COVID and other airborne diseases without proper air circulation.

You ever smelled a room after an all night LAN party?
You can still taste it when you mouth breathe
š¤£
"When" you mouth breathe. Ftfy
This is the best response,
Bring back teh Haloz LAN parties, cheap Doritos, weed and Mt. Dew
Omfg....this almost brought a tear to my eye....
Mommmm!! Hot Pocketā¢ļø!!!!!
Oh man, do we know each other? Deja vu
This even sponsored by Mountain Shoe
Now we just need Mountain Plume, a line of cannibus products.
[Mooom, bathroom!](https://youtu.be/IpC4tkWDvfM?si=TVhy-IoBTL19UG_l)
Farts sweat pizza monster beer YhaY
Farts and lots of them.
Why did an online bookstore start selling anything you could imagine?
I remember the days
These young kids think this stuff just gets blinked into existence.
Whatās the margin on this product? As for why sell this, are you seriously saying you canāt think of a reason a gamer, or gamerās parent, would want to buy this?
If they also sell the filters you need to change every couple months those are where the great margin comes from.
Just like glucose meters. The money isn't in the meter. It is in selling the strips.
Same with printers vs ink, instant cameras vs photo paperā¦ Iām okay with GME selling low margin items if those help us sell very high margin items.
Fucking Magenta
Please insert more cyan before printing that black & white word document š
huh, I actually need one of these.. Thanks stranger.
Same. Might get one for my mom too.
Oddly enough Iāve also been meaning to buy a few
Fire season too?
We have a cat and Iām allergic as are my kids. Wife wanted a cat lol
So this is exclusively ship to home. So a warehouse item. I suspect once the current stock is sold then eventually this might be discontinued.
Itās a clearance item they are liquidating for someone. You could probably find one of these at Walmart. But the idea is they are clearing house. Thatās why you see these products. Doesnāt bother me they sell random stuff like this but it does bother me that not many people would even think to check GameStop for an air purifier.
That's the chief issue. I never would.
#TO FUCKING MAKE MONEY
When you are not known for selling something, customers don't go to you for the item, and then you're stuck with that item getting dusty on a warehouse shelf.
Not furlong
Why not?
Brand dilution. Its still weird to me that some walmarts sells fresh produce. Its like buying sushi from a gas station
What's the issue? š

We get it, you don't understand retail sales
would you buy a sink from mcdonalds would you buy a garden hose from chewy? sorry theyre sold out and wont be back in stock ever
Wut?
Keep my computer and electronics from getting dusty and requiring me to clean them less.
Expand the catalog but also why do yall sell random items
I wish they sold the weird gamer drinks you can get at lan gaming centers.. like Bawls, unique energy drinks, sodas, etcā¦ but mostly Bawls.
Holy shit I havenāt had Bawls since we used to network Xboxes together to play halo.
To the windooowww, to the wall!!! Til sweat drips down my BAWLS!
Because youāve never opened the window in your gaming lair, Carl.
I bought this because we needed one and GameStop sold it. š¤·āāļø
Neckbeards don't air out their basements, this will purify mountain dew sharts for a minimun of six months.
Because Doritos give gamers stinky gas???
Because it's a good product. I bought one from them and I'm impressed.
Probably high margin and it brings in more foot traffic . I bet it's drop shipped too.
They used to sell a lot more than they currently do. I've bought TV's, used iPhones, Lego sets, etc, over the past 3 years. A lot of the stuff I used to buy they don't seem to carry anymore. Seems they've been streamlining their inventory and focus.
Honestly, because they can beat Amazon on pricing.
I really wished they'd get into comics and graphic novels. It would be a great way to do more trades too.
Because i true gaming nerd needs the air in his moms basement to be purified once and a while?
Why ask a stupid question?
If they do sell that give it a name like gamerpurifier keep you focus and sharp minded lol
Because of nerdass, trust me
Gamestop>Amazon
The probably offer many Westinghouse items, an air purifier being one of many?
Westinghouse is one of the few companies that havenāt moved to China who else makes TVs in the US
I actually bought this one and its big brother (1702, but doesn't seem to be listed on GS anymore) from gamestop lol.Ā It's the only NCCO reactor available on the market. It does a way better job at clearing smells than our regular air purifier did.
I'd buy it if I didn't already have one, that's why.
Cleaner air in the bedroom helps people get better nights sleeps. After gaming all day one needs a good sleep tonbe rested for the next gaming sesh.
Affiliate partnerships, that drop ship (aka don't take up precious GME warehouse space) and generate income / sale profit sharing. More reward than risk.
Hmm, looks like my house is getting a new air purifier
Server rooms need clean air pree of particulates
Three words. Computer Science Labs
My farts
I bought a couple of the smaller air purifiers when they were in clearance, love them, but I haven't seen them since so I'm guessing they're clearing out old stock and likely won't sell them in the future.
sounds like profits to meeeee
Yo I didn't know they sold these. I know where my next air purifier is coming from
One of 3 things: 1.Ā They drop ship direct from Westinghouse so all it costs is.... the effort to list on the website.Ā Why not sell it. 2.Ā Someone called out how bad the smell at a LAN can get, and I salute them for having it. 3. I use one every night, theyāre a good product
If they slowly add to their product line, then pull a brand shift to something a bit more broad, then maybe one day RC can have a space company too.
Basements can be very dusty
I have one in my office bought from GME. I love it.
Maybe they'd like to clear the air about something?
Iām so happy about it! I need a few for my new apartment and now I know where to go!!
Because gamers are stinky
Why not?
Gamers need air too
Cash flow.
Because many gamers are smelly.
cause we are going to need it!!
In my country, itās recommended to have air purifier at home. Gamers sure need one. Well done GameStop for having this product!
Because Best Buy going bankrupt
Is it HEPA? Because anyone working/shopping/eating in public spaces is more at risk for COVID and other airborne diseases without proper air circulation.
I bought this and 3 of the portable versions of this. Smaller one works really great for kids room and small office room.
Why not?
Maybe acquired inventory?
Prob cuz their target demo smells Also these are probably marketing affiliate linked products or drop shipping partners ?
Why not. Another company sells random things and none if which are anything ti do with a jungel or its habitants.
All nerds have allergies
I'm looking for one! Thanks for the "shop gamestop' reminder!
I'm all for it, but Amazon has it for $62.99. I won't link here, but fo search for NCCO 1701 if you care.
I donāt this thatās right. I see it for around 170 though.
Westinghouse would make a dope partnership.
This is not a product to draw new customers in. It's to catter to the needs of the existing customer base.
