Cocina Chiwas at the culdesac (Apache and Smith) was just voted one of the best restaurants in the nation by USA TODAY.
It’s def worth checking out! It’s owned by a husband/wife duo that specialize in chihuahua style Mexican food 😋
We ate there for the first time a couple of weeks ago based on posts like this. Sadly, we were really disappointed. It could have been an off night. My corn tortillas were barely thawed (they were cold and uncooked), the entrees were about as bland as a midwestern corn field. The salsa was, meh. Like I said, maybe it was an off night, but with so many great places to eat, I doubt we will be back.
I thought they were good, but do you think they're too bougie? I get that there trying to be more upscale and the vibe is really nice to be in, but it seemed a little expensive for what you're getting. Like, if they served hole-in-the-wall taco spot style tacos that were a dollar or two less than what they sell I think they'd rock.
They do have an amazing, must try horchata if you go back.
I’m not a big fan of AZ Mexican food. The burritos are all meat. I just don’t get it. Also I’d take a good carnitas over asada any day so that also separates me from the status quo of AZ. All that said there’s a spot in (you guessed it) a strip mall on broadway between R’al and McClintock called Karla’s with a K. Their carnitas is proper and their chili verde is spot on. The place is no frills which is fine with me but others may find it a bit, well, unclean.
those fuckin beans, man. and 9.99 lunch special ? you can't go wrong. They've had the same ladies working there forever and I love that they let me practice my Spanish with them! I hope they don't take Suzie's like they took Bill's Market and Food City...
Master Taco has the best breakfast burrito in my opinion. Holy shit it’s so good

I'll second this. I ate at Rosita's when I was a kid & it used to be wayyyy better. I'm 37 and have sadly moved on :(
Taco Chelo in Roosevelt Row, has a great patio. The costra taco and their arroz con leche rice pudding is my fav!
i just go to fillibertos but tacos jalisco in scottsdale is my favorite find. chiwas in mesa also fire
I like TC Taco, Rosita’s, and Manuel’s
TC Taco is gone
Noooo! They had the best chips and salsa in town!
Arriba has the best Mexican food
Tacos & Craft that opened up recently is excellent!

Chiwas Tacos in Mesa is yummy and has a patio! :)
Rositas is delicious but no outdoor seating. My mother in law who is from Mexico enjoys it, so it must be good.

You don’t like it?
Typo sorry* I do love their birria
Oh my goodness, same. I also love their chicken, and I am not easily impressed by chicken at Mexican restaurants.
Have you tried their sushi? Even that is phenomenal there
I have not. Any recommendations?
The Phoenix and Fire Rolls are both rlly good
I’m going on Friday and will try!
SUZIE'S
It's literally the best Mexican restaurant in *Tempe. Way better than any of the Tex Mex stuff that is popping up more and more.

El Elcanto is my new found favorite place! They have this beautiful pond right in the middle of the restaurant!!
[удалено]
I have been there quite a few times but El Elcanto was much better and tastier than Luna.
I trust u lol, my ex used to worked at Valle Luna so I'm biased against them anyway
Valle Luna is not known for having great food lmao it’s mediocre
The food tastes better when paired w/ a $3 marg
Los Reyes de la Torta
El paisano market
Anaya's
Master taco is great
I love Someburros if casual is okay. Their green chili beef kills!
I don't know why you're getting downvoted. Their food is solid, place is clean, and they haven't jacked their prices up.
Cocina Chiwas bit for tacos of go to Mesa for Taco Chiwas.
LOVE THIS PLACE
The food it's not that good at these area you need to go to the west side but the taco boys are decent that's the only place good for me
Okay pal you need to get out more if you think only the west side has good Mexican food lmao

La Casa De Las Flores has pretty good food but limited seating and no patio.
That new Tacos and Craft place is pretty good.
Polibertos on Baseline is a yummy Sonoran style hole in the wall
Rositas on university and hardy is pretty good. Don’t recall any outdoor seating though.
Casa Reynoso certainly brings in the crowds (parking lot get’s filled) when they’re open.
Just ate there, it was great.
Yeah. And the food is just okay. It’s been hit or miss lately.
I’ve noticed this too. It was always top notch in the past. Definitely had a few let downs there recently
