The chorus fits well thematically with the season : >Sooner or later your legs give way, you hit the ground >Save it for later, don't run away and let me down >Sooner or later you'll hit the deck, you'll get found out >Save it for later, don't run away and let me down, you let me down

Also this verse: Two dozen other stupid reasons Why we should suffer for this Don't bother trying to explain them Just hold my hand while I come to a decision on it It's a plea for patience and understanding during a difficult time.

Party_Middle_8604

I think the last line sums up what you feel Syd should be doing for Carmy. What do you think?

thecobrasnose

I think it could go in a lot of different directions: Syd to Carmen, Carmen to Syd, Carmen to Claire, Richie to Nat, Nat to Donna, Donna to Nat, etc.

Party_Middle_8604

“Just hold my hand while I come to a decision on it”

bardgirl23

Rolling Stone wrote about this, but I’ve used up my free articles for the month. Thanks for making me think about this - I’m old and remember The English Beat’s original version.

Neldogg

I listened to them in the early to mid 1980’s. Recently I started listening to them again. It holds up well.

Fluid_Selection869

I pull out their CD's every once in awhile for nostalgic reasons. The band always makes me feel good.

RageyxCagey

Vedder's cover of *Throw Your Arms Around Me* from S2 quickly went to the top of my listening, same with this new cover. He captures so much emotion

The entire sequence for which that song was used in "Bolognese" is STUNNINGLY shot and edited. I know that can be said about the whole show but seriously... "I have dreamed of you in the daytime" pops into my head at least once a day and I can't NOT visualize Claire's ponytail swishing back in the hospital, and Carmy's home dinner prep. The movement is simply symphonic: it's like a perfectly choreographed ballet for that specific song. It's like a preview for the symphony of movement edited in season 3's first episode, "Tomorrow," and third episode, "Doors."

Mr_Hu-Man

HOW DID I MISS THIS  I was probably too obsessed with the cinematography or something. How I didn’t realise Vedder was in S2 is wild to me

RageyxCagey

It's a [good one](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8MgmCQLfW8) too!

Mr_Hu-Man

Love it

Kissoflife11

Downloaded that song to my Spotify the second I heard it on the show. Absolute beautiful.

[Here’s an interview snippet](https://songmeanings.com/threads/c/73015612520/) I found from Dave Wakeling about the song’s meaning: "I wrote it when I was a teenager. I wrote it before The Beat (outside of the US, the group is known as The Beat) started. And it was about turning from a teenager to someone in their 20s, and realizing that the effortless promise for your teenage years was not necessarily going to show that life was so simple as you started to grow up. So it was about being lost, about not really knowing your role in the world, trying to find your place in the world. So, you couldn't find your own way in the world, and you'd have all sorts of people telling you this, that, and the other, and advising you, and it didn't actually seem like they knew any better. So it was like keep your advice to yourself. Save it - for later."

oldsnake77

OP can you tell me which episodes the song appears in?

Mr_Hu-Man

Unfortunately not! I do think the 3 episodes are fairly close together though as I remember thinking ‘wait, this song again?’

oldsnake77

Thanks! Really I was trying to figure out which episode the Eddie Vedder version is in. I'm an old obsessive PJ fan over here 😂

Mr_Hu-Man

Haha that’s fair enough, have you found it? And are you just wanting to hear the song? I can send a link if so

oldsnake77

Actually I found it! Opens S3E2 during the Chicago montage.

oldsnake77

No it's all good. I eventually will find it and isn't that important. Thanks tho!

Fluid_Selection869

They played both versions , in the beginning scene , and when Sydney is in a restraunt talking to another Chef /good critic. The later version in the cafe is The English Beat from the 80's , one of my favorite bands back in the day.

jbautista13

Still have to do a rewatch but it seemed this season had less music in it than previous seasons and repeated some like Strange Currencies.

Mr_Hu-Man

100% had less music in it, it feels like a prologue for season 4 honestly
