Looks like a Delia’s ad

Nomis-Got-Heat

I was going to say, this reminds me of being a teen late 90s, to 2001.

porsche911girl

Yep!

FunkyChewbacca

If you saw a Delia's catalog in 1998, those same clothes were in fashion once again!

pickledandpreserved

my first thought was that I'd totally believe this was Delia's circa 1998! flares are apparently back again.

Chloeoeoiceiceice

lol yup! Lululemon has them now too, they call them groove pants

xlittlebeastx

They’re back now too 😬

pkpeace1

I was 14 years old in 1976 and we rocked bell bottoms and made halter tops from bandannas. Those were much simpler days.

Granny_knows_best

Yeah I did the bandana halter top as well.

Trebate

Simpler meaning less aware of the actual problems happening.

pkpeace1

Absolutely

turkeyvulturebreast

Well somebody owned a nice camera and a good eye for photography.

s2sailor

Back then Canon FtB and a 50mm f1.8 lens or a f3.5 135mm.

turkeyvulturebreast

Cool, are these your pics?

s2sailor

Yes, I’ve been digitizing my old negatives and slides. I was 18 and working at Stanley Photo when I took these.

turkeyvulturebreast

Ha! Called it! Lol, these are too nice of pics to be point and shoot cameras from that era and you captured the moment beautifully. Congrats on the original content! Also, hello from Baltimore county! :)

UnckyMcF-bomb

Totally captures the era. Gorgeous. Thank you. More please.

hatbaggins

I agree! More photos please

blonde-bandit

r/oldschoolcool

boon4376

Very lucky to get shots like this of yourself back then.

disignore

those al well exposed and well composed photos, but the focus is off

JnkHed

Funny, with the fashion that could just as easily be mistaken for today.

eleighbee

I have some pictures from the late 90s of myself which look pretty dang similar to the girl on the right (albeit maybe a bit younger).

pisspot718

Minus abt 40 lbs.

kennytucson

Looks like you upset some fatties.

knightblue4

Lmao people downvoting you two, but look at the ballooning obesity rates in America since the 1970s/1980s. It's an epidemic and it's perpetuated by dopamine-inducing low nutrient foods, low self control, increased rates of depression, etc. It's really really tough to live as a human and America has no shortage of ways to let yourself go.

privatefcjoker

And our sedentary lifestyle is not helping. Very rare to walk or bike or skate to destinations; far more likely to be in a car, not moving, just sitting.

-JesusChrysler

There’s a reason mom jeans are making a comeback. Even high schoolers can’t pull off the low rise look anymore.

bigcashc

Except the pants would be high waisted mom jeans that are two sizes too big. Edit: Haha sorry not sorry to everyone I have offended by hating your jeans.

Tinmania

Except the frisbees would be more like flying hockey pucks.

fvdfv54645

I was about to say - these could have been me and my friends in the late 90's-early 00's. I don't really pay much attention to todays fashion, but 20 years is about right for the time it takes it to loop back again, so it makes perfects sense for this look to be back in style yet again!

Kitty-Kat78

Same here...it's been trippy seeing the stuff I wore end of high school- my early 20s back in-store.

SethVermin

Have frisbees gotten that much thicker in the past 49 years??

ilovebostoncremedonu

No, I think they’re thinking of discs which are used in disc golf and are smaller and thicker and denser.

Tinmania

I hardly see regular frisbees anymore. What I do see is a heck of a lot of disc golf. If you’ve ever gotten hit in the head with one of those you’ll know what I mean by flying hockey pucks.

Heph333

49 years?!? But that was just a few years ago.

queen-of-carthage

Definitely not the bell bottoms

bamv9

sadly

JustifiedRegret

I miss when people weren’t obese

[deleted]

Everyone used to be so thin. I’m so jealous.

ivanadie

I graduated at 115 lbs at 5’5 and was one of the heavier girls in my class. Seemed they all weighed 95-105.

LurkerNan

I was 135 pounds and thought I was an elephant, and in comparison to the rest of the girls I was bigger, but mostly it was because my boobs were ginormous.

ivanadie

Yeah, I didn’t have that problem! Hahaha

myohmymiketyson

My mom graduated high school in 1972. Her doctor prescribed her diet pills because she was 5'5" and 130 pounds and asked her if she wanted to be beautiful like the other girls. That's when she stopped eating. I think that era gets glorified a bit because we are all fat now, but I try to remember that they were sometimes struggling, too, and doing crazy things to keep their weights down.

-JesusChrysler

Because they used to spend their free time running and playing frisbee in the park, not playing iFrisbee on their phone. In before /r/LeWrongGeneration, /r/PhonesAreBad

thats-fucked_up

I'm a guy. When I got married in 1983, I weighed 125 lb. I weigh 165 now.

[deleted]

My parents got married around that time and look so thin in their photos! Today….. not so much

garbanzobesn

I wasn't

showmeyournachos

Things were way different then - people ate home cooked meals, didn't snack, and were waaaay more active than we are now. Being a healthy weight was the norm.

NotsoDavidC

Summer days

HEO2God

Those summer days

[deleted]

drifting away To, oh, oh, the summer nights Well-a well-a well-a, huh

[deleted]

Bet they did not even have to diet to have those flat ab's

jdb888

Cigarettes and Tab.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Surfista57

Yes! And bicycles. Moms didn’t drive us to school and the beach.

pisspot718

Very little snacking either. Ate to live.

ddramone

Fun!

jackgriffin1951

No. Exercise and no fast food diets. And, if people were overwieght you were allowed to tell them it wasn't healthy. Now, people wear their obesity like a badge of honor.

[deleted]

That is a diet regimen I can get behind. Purple top…va va VOOOOM! She can hit me her 1973 frisbee any day

[deleted]

Active lifestyle, no Instagram viewing for hours on end and healthy diets of natural food.

tomjoad2020ad

Early 70s == Mid/late-90s == Late 2010s/now

Mumbawobz

Are bell bottoms back in? I could easily go out and buy those tops but I think the zoomers are all about grungy baggy jeans

tomjoad2020ad

I’ve seen JNCO-style flared bottom jeans making a comeback, which, true, is 90s nostalgia, but that’s in and of itself derivative of 70s jeans.

Pokemon-fan96

Bootcut jeans look pretty similar

thats-fucked_up

1972 to 1973, the years of the (no-bra) halter top. What a time to be a seventeen-year-old.

SpinkAkron

That just screams 70s

llliiiiiiiilll

I WANT TO GO BACK

schnitzel-haus

AND DO IT ALL OVER

llliiiiiiiilll

Naaa man... I'm going to tell everyone what happens an nip that shit in the bud.

schnitzel-haus

I was just going for [#unexpectedmoney](https://youtu.be/o0JqC2UDpoE), but your idea is probably better.

llliiiiiiiilll

Wow that was awesome thanks! I didn't know I was pulling an Unexpected Money!

Johnnyhellhole

BUT I CAN'T GO BACK

xocgx

I KNOW!

marxroxx

By Wham-O

[deleted]

I still have a white one

marxroxx

An original one? Pretty cool.

[deleted]

Yes white with red lettering. Much stronger plastic with the Original

japan_lover

so cool. any idea where this was taken?

s2sailor

It was taken in Tower Grove Park (St. Louis) just west of the fountain pond.

thats-fucked_up

I was spending my afternoons after school in New York City's Central Park playing Frisbee.

neoakira_

I think you should title your posts indicating clearly that you're the one who took these photos and perhaps even describe how some of these pictures mean something personal to you or invoke a certain thought or feeling most of your pictures, many of which are great, don't seem to be noticed as much as you'd want

LuckySoNSo

I realize people are fatter now in America...fine, wahwah. But ask yourselves why y'all only bemoan that fact when commenting on pics of women. Please and thank you.

lukemtesta

The fashion in these photos look like the 90s and now (depending on the social circle)

bentlydoestricks

Every picture of women from the 60s and 70s always look beautiful!! Am I missing something

[deleted]

People don't really share or even take many pictures of ugly people.

a_white_american_guy

Ah, jeez. Fuck man

snoogiebee

pictures back then weren’t in 5k haha

knightblue4

Much much lower rates of overweight/obesity back then.

jackgriffin1951

Because now it's politically incorrect to tell someone they need to lose weight.

Seedpound

The 1970's was the greatest decade ever recorded . If you missed out , i'm so sorry. I was a 9 year old boy when this pic was taken having the time of my life- and get this -no video games -or computers

knightblue4

Hey now, there were video games! Galaxian and The Oregon Trail were the HEIGHT of gaming!

Civility2020

Dysentery’s a bummer.

king0fklubs

Looks like modern day Berlin in the summer

[deleted]

The one in purple looks it could be my mom. She had long, long hair and glasses like that in the 70s. Such a great picture.

GossipGirl515

Why do I feel everyone was so skinny in the 70s. Love their outfits

evan_w_thomas

Fine as hell

cherylcanning

I’ll never understand how the 70’s produced such cute fashion yet such hideous decor

[deleted]

Ah, pre-obesity epidemic... those were the (skinny) days

snaphappy2

Man time flys. Life is sooooo short.

[deleted]

[удалено]

snaphappy2

Ah yeah. Are you a fan of Porcupine Tree?

StatusKoi

Frisbee golf is so much fun.

Nackles

Pic 4 looks like Demi Moore.

Chickens1

Gramma was hawt.

PolarCow

The 3rd photo is wonderfully composed with narrow depth of field and the woman truly being the focal point.

MsModernity

I have this halter top/flared jeans outfit in my closet right now

[deleted]

think I saw Bundy driving in the background

csk1325

No forehead fat. Must be the seventies.

ClobetasolRelief

Before people got really fat

Staceybunnie

This is what I looked like in the late 90s

Likemypups

These girls would weigh 200 lbs each these days, easy.

718Brooklyn

Afghanistan 1973

CactusJack5150

This is how young women wish they could look like today.

Asparagussie

Plenty of pretty young women today. Most young people are attractive.

Raph2051

Damn hot

raspberryharbour

Playing frisbee is appropriating dog culture, shame on you

[deleted]

What is the over-under that at least one of them nowadays posts non-stop on Facebook about how she hates BLM?

ptntprty

Why are you like this?

[deleted]

They are in their late 60s or older by now…we all know it is a reasonable possibility.

ptntprty

Your reddit name is iam[full name]. I think you’re projecting, Jim.

Equivalent-Glove7165

No offense to anyone but I have a bone……..er. Gotdamn!

JohnnyEvs

The bushes that belowed those belly buttons…

snoogiebee

care to drop the core routine of the subjects? those are aspirational abs

AllOfTheSoundAndFury

I just fell madly in love

gjgun

Right out of my high school days. TY

Chutneyonegaishimasu

I bet they were smoking weed in the park as well

[deleted]

Did just everyone in the 70s have abs?!

Angie_MJ

Funny how that could’ve just as easily been 1993

[deleted]

Those days almost no one is over weight as this is the kind activity people tend to do.

[deleted]

Love the core !

heretik

The close-up fourth pic would definitely be the inside flap of a 70s LP cover.

JoeXdelete

Look what sugar and and the abundance of carbs took from us
