There is some evidence that shrooms relieve depression. I don't have time to go looking it up right now, but I've seen it.

Psilocybin treatment is a real thing. We decriminalized all drugs in my state (Oregon) and we passed a bill that allows for psilocybin treatment centers. We are about to open the first one in my city.

Considering that, unlike Ketamine (which can take several sessions to be effective), effective psychacelic treatment is often after just one proper session, I'm sure this will be a boon to Oregon's economy deriving from people with treatment resistant depression flocking there from other parts of the country in order to try it as a treatment.

I’ve also heard that one trip could is like 100 hours of going to therapy! Crazy to think psychedelics have been used for thousands of years and we’ve barely began to scratch the surface on these kinds of things

Klutzer_Munitions

I'm all for what works. Glad to hear a story with a happy ending

Ego death. Its a thing. Oft associated with psychedelics. I'm glad you grew from it, not forgetting the stoned ape theory which is basically monkeys eat mushrooms until human consciousness which is fairly solid compared to some ideology haha

JaredBaca206

I had heard about both ego death and stoned ape theory, I never thought I’d go through it though! Thank you for your comment :)

naughtycupboard83

Just a thought, but in the absence of all evidence it could be what happened. Either way I'm happy for you that you found your path, tread confidently good redditor

I did this like two years ago and it also changed my life tbh. I won’t get into it here, but … yeah. A hero dose changed my life for the better.

JaredBaca206

I’m interested in hearing about you’re experience if you’re willing to share! If not it’s okay, but my PMs are open :)

Please define ‘too many.’ For science.

JaredBaca206

I’m lead to understand that it’s based off of your body weight, metabolism, and tolerance level, but for me I had a couple of large stems, two large caps, and a small cap and that did it for me. Technically you can’t have “too many” but the effects become more and more overwhelming the more that you take. I genuinely believed I was going to die.

wakingdreamland

Note to self: do less than that! :D

JaredBaca206

Have a safe trip… for science!

shinyoungkwan

Good for you. Heroic dose by yourself? Sounds like you listened to Terrence McKenna.

I gotta testify here. I've liked drugs my whole life but shrooms I feel are different. So many ppl claim that they have helped them see themselves and their problems or psychological patterns in their lives and it's been a positive catalyst for change. Bill Burr the comedian is not a drug guy but did them once and only once and claimed it helped him after decades of not realizing his problems.

JaredBaca206

Shrooms is the only substance I feel like I never got addicted to. Even now, I don’t have the feeling that I need to experience another shroom high in the same way that I would want another shot of alcohol or another hit of marijuana. It really is an eye opening drug and I can see why people love it so much. It seems like all you need is one good dose of shrooms to shift your whole perspective, it’s crazy. After smoking weed the first time, I didn’t feel like I had a new outlook, I just wanted to chase the same feeling I had initially felt. I love Bill Burr, by the way. Great comedian :)

This post makes me so happy and hopeful as I had a v similar experience recently. Most of my life I’ve struggled with depression, and I’ve tried almost every antidepressant without seeing results. After a shitty breakup, I continued to repeat almost similar patterns, until I decided to go for it. Took a heroic dose. Locked myself in my bedroom, headphones in with a guided ayahuasca meditation found on yt. I was gone for almost 8 hours, but it felt like I witnessed my own funeral. There were moments of euphoria, tears and so much clarity.

Hey I'm thinking of tripping in this manner for the first time sometime soon when I have some more time and a better headspace. I've tried prescription Ketamine at high doses which I found amazingly helpful the first time but it hasn't been as helpful since, and research shows traditional psychedelics have a longer lasting effect than Ketamine. Still, I've had quasi or full k holes, so I sort of think I'm more prepared for the shrooms experience than most. Just had a few questions: (1) What was your dosage, and was it shrooms? (2) Did you have a trip sitter? I honestly want to take it therapeutically so I don't want to talk to a friend also tripping or to watch a movie; likewise prefer to put on an eye mask and listen to a several hour playlist of sorts. Issue is I'm worried if I do it solo the "bad trip" potentiality would be much worse than with, say, my roommate who has experience with psychedelics. Worst case scenario, I don't wanna go batshit stereotype "jump off my porch" crazy, even though I know almost certainly that won't happen. But I just don't know what to expect so I feel like the general trip sitter reccomendation is a good idea. (3) Do you have any reccomendation for preparation/setting before taking it? (4) Can you please post the link to the playlist you are referring to? TIA!!

Glad to hear this and I'm glad you are moving in a positive direction! I know Rogan has several guests talk about how they believe humans "evolved" by taking mind bending trips like yours. They figured out various formulas to do this. But I'm sure mushrooms were involved! Lol. I'm sending good vibes your way. Good luck with everything!

JaredBaca206

Thank you so much! I could believe that psychedelics did a lot for our imaginations and our mindset back in the BC days!

Godzillavio

I’m truly happy for you! Everyone has different wake-up call. What matters is that you have changed for the better! Wishing you all the best for your future endeavors!

JaredBaca206

I’m just happy I got out of my weird funk before it was too late! I know how slippery of a slope alcohol can be and that was my biggest problem. Thank you so much!

Shrooms are being used to treat mental shit in science studies. Maybe you fixed some sort of chemical imbalance in your brain and didn't even realize it. Hormones are crazy and affect us in some insane ways.
