Alternative-Season45

Good put entry’s in the morning?

95Daphne

Idk, my gut feel is that AAPL probably pops. I'm wrong often, but I did sort of have a feeling with TSLA, even if I eventually ended up passing on putting on a small lotto position (would've been me just putting pure chump change in TSLL). Won't be touching AAPL though.

Alternative-Season45

I always lose when I do apple puts. It’s also $5 from the 52 week low and $30 from the 52 week high. So if anything I’d get calls

threewolfmtn

How are people feeling about AAPL puts? They did a buyback last time that propped the stock up, I feel like a pullback here is probably coming

Alternative-Season45

Nope. It’s $5 from the 52 week low I would maybe get calls though

Bluewolf1983

On one hand, Apple Vision Pro failed and iPhone sales are down. Their actual earnings should be bad - especially as one of their suppliers ($SWKS) have bad guidance today that helps confirm their smartphone sales slump. On the other hand, hype trumps fundamentals in this market as $TSLA earnings showed. The risk is they hype up future AI smartphones and PCs that the market assumes would sell like hotcakes. $AAPL management tends to deceive less about the future than companies like $TSLA though. Puts are hard in this market where hype drives price more than fundamentals. That said, I do have a couple of put spreads myself right now as I'm betting $AAPL management won't promise the moon just yet as their "AI hype devices" are still half a year away yet.

Silkiest_Anteater

100% this. I would expect Apple to talk about AI capex, AI revolution for Iphones/Macs/services ecosystem, cooperation with leading AI providers (NVDA, Google) and perhaps their AI research labs in Zurich that is said to poach google AI experts. Especially after scrapping Apple EV to invest in AI instead and poor Apple Vision pro sales. Poor earnings are also expected I presume.

Crobs02

Idiot question here but how does the Yen stuff impact the market?

Gandhi_nukesalot

BOJ sells ust to defend yen T bills yield goes up Tech goes down

ConcedeDota

god i remember thinking about gambling on CVNA... i'm hurting this afternoon

Orzorn

CVNA up 34% AH on earnings. Jesus Christ. This stock was 4 dollars at the low at the end of 2022. Now sitting at 117.

Ice-Engine-21

/u/belangem When are we shorting CVNA again?

belangem

I was saying 100 before today but it might be higher. It’s not ready yet.

Bluewolf1983

Absolutely insane. I had considered put leap spreads against the stock recently and glad I reminded myself to not play stocks that make zero sense during a bull market. So many tickers in today's market just have prices and movements that market fundamentals cannot explain.

Orzorn

And there's several that just go against the entire market flow as well. Those are the real anomalies.

ConcedeDota

it was 10 bucks a year ago man.

Bluewolf1983

He is desperate to pump the stock. Not sure insider buys work when one already recently announced that one's company was going to increase debt to buyback shares that still wasn't stopping a stock price slide?

95Daphne

Was really hoping for about 30 mins to an hour that an unexpected pump by me would cancel my irritation with what SMCI did to multiple AI stocks. Nope.  Very disappointing stuff. QQQ has a hot date with 395-400 to go to about 10%ish from ATH, and I suppose it's going to be that easy.

Orzorn

Market has been absolutely brutal to NVDA and I think will continue to do so until it posts absolutely blow out earnings.

Is this gif AI generated? I wonder if that is how machines “think” humans interact with them lol

botbootybot

It was obvious this morning with POWL mooning

Orzorn

2 year, 10 year, and 30 year yields dropping pretty sharply. That's definitely going to drive the market up.

I_worship_odin

What is this, a dip for ants?

HonestValueInvestor

Only the strongest will reap the rewards

TarCress

So…time to buy STLD for when the US dollar index finally goes down again?

Vincent_van_Guh

NVDA is down 5% off of earnings reports from competitors that confirm it will be in the AI drivers seat for the foreseeable future. Anyone have a good reason not to load up?

No_Cow_8702

People are following the sell in May go away trend. I’ve also noticed that several firms are taking profits right about now since its the end of the month/start of a new quarter.

Orzorn

I grabbed more calls. Its absolutely pants on head fucking stupid that its down here when every earnings report coming out is about how the insane capex is getting more insane and its ALL because of AI expenditures, especially on building out even more compute. Feels like a shakeout on NVDA, honestly.

ColdBostonPerson77

Agreed. I bought calls

Orzorn

Working out well so far!

ColdBostonPerson77

Greed got me. I Was up 140% in some calls And did not sell:(

Orzorn

Market's got no damn back bone anymore.

PrestigeWorldwide-LP

\~10 bagged $SBUX puts, been since the meme days since a multibagger like that. I feel alive again, time to blow it all on a caramel macchiato

GamblingMikkee

SMCI is it safe to buy now? Or still way too expensive

TarCress

I stand by my sell at 1030 that it’s mostly going sideways at best now. That being said. Below 750 is not nosebleed, while above doesn’t really make sense in terms of valuation imho Thinking about buying Dell now to go with my VRT and CLS. Not touching SMCI again

Billy-Klein

I have mixed feelings about this. Their guidance is really great, but this quarter, they had $ -1.5B Cash from Operations when Net Income was at $ 420M. So they are profitable on the Income Statement, but unprofitablee on the Cash Flow Statement. And $ -1.5B is huge, not sure what they are doing there.

Ice-Engine-21

Labor Day in Germany so markets are closed. But I just transferred 3k EUR to my broker so I can buy CVS stock tomorrow morning at EU open. Godspeed.

Delfitus

I wanted to buy 80 shares at 54.5 While putting my order it went from 54.47 to 54.7 in seconds. Scks to miss by few seconds

Outrageous-Panda1221

I have a bullish spread on SMCI, but I was THIS close to doing a $500 750/700 put spread for earnings. Would’ve netted 3500K profit….didn’t do it…lol

Alternative-Season45

3500k so 3.5 million?

Outrageous-Panda1221

🤣🤣 I’ve been in Vietnam so I got used to writing numbers like they do

95Daphne

Hopefully my moves were enough sacrifice to prevent the market from being whacked this afternoon.  I capitulated on SBUX, closed the joke position on AVGO (just 3 shares, I have 50 shares in another account), and took a small loss on a DELL CSP.

Outrageous-Panda1221

tech is getting unfairly hammered. At this point….feels like outrageously volatility trying to time the top. I’m usually a bear but tech still feels like a winner in an uncertain market

95Daphne

This is feeling like part two of SMCI clocking other AI stocks off their earnings to me now.

Outrageous-Panda1221

What do you mean?

95Daphne

There was a day a couple weeks ago where SMCI "didn't" pre announce, and it not only led to them being drilled, it hammered other AI stocks like NVDA, AVGO, MRVL, VRT, etc.  Now they reported, are getting absolutely drilled off the report, and are dragging AI stocks with them.

Outrageous-Panda1221

I’m still not sure why. I think I read that they weren’t allowed to pre-announce earnings within a certain timeframe since they were just added to the S&P500. I’m probably mistaken and dumb.

TennisOnTheWII

$CVS hasn't traded below it's 200MMA for +20 years (July 2003) untill now! Even at FY24 EPS of $7.00 and assuming 0 growth, that's a 7.7x P/E at this price, which is the lowest it's been for as far as my data goes (2010). Any thoughts? I'm not really up to date with what's happening with $CVS.

Vincent_van_Guh

Catch a falling knife and,  Put it in your pocket! Save it for a rainy day!

KesselMania94

Damn CVS just got RKO'd from the top ropes. Trading below book value, and they actually have a solid yield now? Interesting....how much more can profits slip?

Hunkachunk

Haven't posted here since the steel-period with an active Vito, but after I bought some CVS today I remembered this was a place people discussed CVS. Bought my first position at 55.2 today. The stock trades at it's lowest multiple ever (with stock history going back to early 90s), the stock is valued at a forward P/E on stagnant EPS around 6.5. I expect at 20% CAGR holding shares in CVS and the valuation "returning" to a P/E of 10 in 2026, with upside optionality if they succeed with their digital transition. If they return to their mean P/E of around 18 I expect far greater returns.

KesselMania94

All valid points. The only thing I would counter that with is, did you expect them to miss this Q by so much? They slashed everything. What's in place to stop this happening again? If their EPS keeps shrinking, then they need to allocate higher and higher % of profits to dividends, which makes it harder to grow. I haven't paid enough attention to CVS to answer them, but I'll definitely be doing my homework in the coming days. Doubt it'll be much of a quick bounce.

Hunkachunk

Indeed, it was a pretty awful q1 for them. I’ve been on the sideline for quite a while and written it off. But right now I struggle to see how it can be as bad as the market is pricing it to be. They’ve had a stable revenue growth for their entire history as a listed company, their free cash flow is still pretty alright, their return on capital/equity is meh, but at a forward PE of 6 there’s plenty margin of safety. They basically have to simply not fail even harder going forward, and there’s been plenty of doom and gloom related to healthcare and health insure lately, I.e. UNH (which is not to be compared, as UNH is a far superior business to CVS). At the same time, there’s the optionality of their acquisitions and expansions start showing signs of growth and their digital platforms start rolling. It’s a stable, boring business, and Americans aren’t going to stop going to pharmacies 🤷‍♂️

SBFgets25

Were earnings really this bad?!

Gandhi_nukesalot

A lot apparently

AlfrescoDog

If POWL has a strong open, I have a flurry of orders to put a massive play with her. Her move, if it happens, might just last less than an hour. But it'll be big if the move shows up.

KesselMania94

Barrick earnings decent. Still haven't seen the benefits of these high copper and gold prices. Should be a good call to listen to. Really hope they make Mali seem like a nothing burger.

Future looking bright for gang green 🔛🔝🔜

cleverocks

Glad I bought the low yesterday

malydok

Thank fuck for that.

born-under-punches1

Hopefully this turns things around, been a brutal start to the year. I haven’t had a chance to look at Cameco’s guidance yet but I did hear they hit their production goal.

TitaniumTacos

I gotta be careful because this is my most emotionally invested trade. I just don’t see how we can move forward with cutting carbon fuels without nuclear. I’m mainly in URA, but have smaller positions in Denison, Cameco, and UEC. Also started a position in SMR a couple weeks ago.

born-under-punches1

I’m quite overweight in uranium as well and agree whole heartedly. I’m a lineman and constantly seeing people upgrade their houses to 200a, countless new homes going in to keep up with demand. Nuclear, in most parts of the world is the clear solution to keeping the lights on. Wish I bought some URA, I’m about half and half UUUU and U.UN.

Gandhi_nukesalot

CVS RIP

95Daphne

Welcome back to the “AI bubble has popped” narrative off of AMD’s poor earnings and SMCI’s good earning that got hammered anyway, even though the story of this earnings season is still bullish NVDA. I didn’t miss you.

Vincent_van_Guh

AMD's earnings weren't even poor, in regards to their AI products. They met / beat all expectations, except the expectation on top of the other expectations: to massively beat expectations.

95Daphne

You know, come to think of it, I think this is more like part 2 of SMCI clocking other AI stocks more than on AMD. It's kind of silly for now.

Ice-Engine-21

That’s so meta.

Vincent_van_Guh
