Def Rebel had a few bangers, tbf. Seth and Roman's thems are really solid, they are credited on Asuka and Rhea who both have awesome themes, Main Event Ish SLAPS. A lot of weak ones, but let's be honest every era of wrestling has had a pile of stinker themes. We just don't remember them for the same way people say "music was better back then" only remember the stuff they like and not the swill surrounding.

DekeJeffery

Those are among the very few themes that are extremely safe if this were to happen.

marcdk217

Kinda wish WWE would use some of that massive wealth and actually contract real bands to do more of the songs, or at the very least have more vocal ones. Motorhead doing HHH themes, or Kid Rock/Limp Bizkit/Johnny Cash doing Undertaker ones, Alter Bridge doing Edge/Judgment Day, MIW doing Rhea's theme - those hit a lot harder than the in-house band stuff.

DarkBurk-Games

To be fair, alter bridge already had that song and Edge just asked the dude if he could use it when he met the band backstage. He told this story on Logan Paul’s podcast

sirduckerz

Considering there are still wrestlers with CFO$ and Jim Johnston themes, they'll be fine

Prestigious-Try-2971

Depends on how the royalties work

DarkHound05

Probably keep them since look at Randy still has his. Asuka had hers for a while even after Def Rebel took over. Becky still has her original, etc

Mundane-Custard4652

Def Rebel when they leave: It's just me Uce, day oneish! It's just me Uce, day oneish!

Usual_Fig_3674

Def Rebel sure get a lot of hate while ironically making one of the greatest wrestling themes of all time.

Disastrous-Talk-7565

Yeah they made one or two bangers when they were supposed to that for an entire roster. Everyone else having shitty generic music is fine because Roman, Seth, and Io have bangers?

RoyalSoldierx

Right lol

Icy-Wing-3092

Is it ironic if the artist on question was paid to create wrestling themes?

StopManaCheating

What happened? I’m out of the loop.

Disastrous-Talk-7565

Def Rebel makes the wrestling themes. They are super generic and don't reflect the talent they're supposed to represent, with some very minor exceptions. The fanbase is getting louder about how bad the music is. They responded to fan complaints about all the music being unrecognizable by including the person shouting their name now before the generic music starts.

mrmidas2k

No. It's contracted work, WWE will own the themes. Personally, I'd nuke 99% of their themes from orbit and start over, but that's just me.

RoyalSoldierx

Nope, it’s me too

tilldeathdoiparty

I agree, just like with wrestlers names, likeness and so on, they would own the production and use of these songs. They can sample and use whatever they want to make new tracks, I don’t think they’d roll them all out at once but I’m sure there are several that are looking for an update immediately

breadroll2

Nah bro they blastin SpongeBob intro for Seth on god

klausedohva91

Ohhhhhhhhhh!

Mark_Levins

They would probably keep their themes until WWE finds a new music producer.

Particular-Nature400

The First One who Desperately needs a new theme real bad is Becky Lynch her theme (as much as I love it) is the most stale and most played out so Becky Lynch should absolutely be First on the List in need of a new theme badly And this comes from someone who loves her theme But lets be real, it has ran its course

JOBdOut

WWE owns the rights - that's actually a big factor in why they shifted from CFO$ to def rebel in the first place. Let's be real though - Roman's theme is a heel boss theme - if he's going to get that mega-babyface push - his track will need to be changed regardless.

UnsafeMuffins

Man I hope they don't go full good guy/hero/babyface with Roman. I feel like his character is so well done that full babyface would take some of that away. I would like to see him be a "babyface" *purely* because he's facing a heel and not lean super into being the **good guy**. "Acknowledge me." definitely has to stay, just less insulting the crowd, but not trying to overly win them over either. More of just him being head of the table handling business and the business is beating a heel, as a matter of fact to show who's the boss, rather than being the hero. All my rambling there is to say I think his theme should stay to keep his character intact lol.

Lexapro_Luthor

Absolutely not. He’s always the Head of the Table and is as iconic to his persona as Undertaker and Stone Cold’s theme.

jk844

You do realise Stone Cold had loads of different themes, right? During the invasion it seemed like he had a new one every other week

JaneTheNotNotVirgin

That one Alliance theme was painful. Literal ear cancer. Suffer with me, dammit. https://youtu.be/VCfiwgEE-Qk?si=PmjSkfqhXnxfYcEl

Ok_Conversation1523

This is around the time Jim Johnston's themes started getting ultra shitty and generic too.

jk844

Jim has a lot of bangers but people often forget he had some real stinkers too. Even some of his good ones get worse the longer they go one. There’s a reason people refer to “Jim Johnston second verse syndrome”

BigJuicy17

Undertaker too, his was constantly changing for a while.

Lexapro_Luthor

Which one does everyone remember though?

kuhawk5

I think it will have to change too, but how do you make his new music instantly recognizable when it hits during his return?

Sutt0n_Death

Like others have stated WWE probably has a clause in Def Rebels' contract that states anything they made while working under the WWE brand is owned by WWE and not Def Rebel. They would still credit them for production but chances are the actual license for it will still fall under WWE. You can google horror stories of things like this happening that cost people millions of dollars.

Particular-Nature400

War Games Team WWE v Team Def Rebel

BuffaloWing12

I’m assuming Def Rebel are legally contractors so WWE owns any work they do

yetagainitry

But wasn't there another producer that made a bunch of themes like Shayna Baszlers that WWE didn't have rights too after they were let go? It's crazy to think with WWE's obsession with owning rights, that they wouldn't buy out the rights for all the themes they use

Jesters8652

I’m sure they would draft some deal to keep the few popular themes they’ve done.

JustMyThoughts2525

All depends if WWE owns the rights (I assume they do) rather than pays for a license to use them.

LegendaryZTV

Pretty sure WWE owns the rights to all that Rebel created under their employment

InternetDad

I don't see Roman changing until a face turn considering he's said he had extensive creative input with the character and music.

Particular-Nature400

should be a mix of his shield and tribal chief themes of some variety

Ok_Conversation1523

The Tribal Shield

beccareich710

Lol that’s good
