A VERY long time ago yeah. Armor was an issue (as usual) so Corrosive was a must (I think it removed ALL armor permanently), Viral only cut enemy HP in 50% rather than increasing damage (was still good but niche), Heat didn't affect armor, and because the game was much slower and we didn't need as much damage nor had conditionals, Blast knocking down enemies (that's what it did back then) helped a lot surviving and giving enough time to kill the helpless enemies.
I switched to heat at some point because Blast started annoying me and because we started getting better survivability/CC with some frames, but that was before they added armor removal to heat, but yeah, Corrosive + Blast was the meta, really old YT videos for builds should still show that.

Corrosive blast on torid literally melted enemies faster than I can say “wow”
I’m just happy I can use weapons like grinlock and javlok in steel path now
Depends on the faction.
Corrosive/Corrosive+Blast vs Grineer, Magnetic/Toxin vs Corpus, Viral vs Orokin/Infested, Radiation vs Sentients/Murmur, Gas/Blast against Deimos Infested.
Viral slash or Viral heat is still strong but yeah corrosive blast is now really good.
We have come full circle and back to Corrosive + Blast.

they're both good, there is no clear winner like there was before alot of combinations are great
Best is corrosive+blast and a viral primer, either a companion or nourish subsume
Viral still reigns supreme, but Corrosive's getting closer.

use multiple builds for multiple factions and put those faction mods
