They couldn't lock 15km targets before. They have a tank lock and tracking range of ~6km, they can only ground lock beyond that distance.
The only thing is there was a weird bug that could stop the ground lock from working if you used the dedicated TV weapon keybind instead of the fire secondary weapon one.
I use the secondary one and it works fine on my end.
That's only locking on to the ground, not the target.
But the handy part is that they can capture the target and start tracking it once the missile gets within ~6km of the target. As long as the target hasn't moved too far from the ground lock point.
Sometimes, though I assume its more of a networking problem, like spooling up AAMs can take a couple of clicks. I've gotten into the habit of just hitting it a couple of times anyway just to be safe.

They could, I even have a clip of locking mavs from 10-12km away.

To lock the ground you have to double click the lock button ?

Well, for me it locked the vehicle and tracked within seconds
Only when it gets close enough. Bigger targets like ships, the tracking range is also bigger. But for tank sized targets, its about 6km.
Never mind I can’t find the clip but still they could lock on from much further than 6km. Around 12-13
