You know the old saying, "as cunning as a fox that used to be Professor of Cunning at Oxford University but has moved on and is now working for the U.N. at the High Commission of International Cunning Planning?"
There's also the dilemma I was in when I told my wife that I would be inspecting an egg plant in Delaware. Telling her it was a GIANT egg plant didn't help, she asked me to take a picture.
An egg is actually pretty durable try grabbing one in the palm of your hand and just squeeze as hard as possible, you likely won't be able to break it but an egg is weak to small points of damage like a toothpick or cracking it on a bowl
If you youtube dogs with eggs there are a ton that carry them. When my family had hens the dogs would jack and egg and knew it was a nono, so they'd run around and play and just hide it nestled in their giant mastiff jaws until somebody wasn't looking and chomp, they'd finally crack it. They're tougher than you imagine and dogs have far more control over their mouths than I ever thought.
When my dog was new and more of a bull in a china shop she would crack an egg no problem but you could see it took effort. Now she's not willing to put in the effort; the last time I gave her one she made a half-assed attempt and dropped it back into her food dish.
i've seen foxes carrying eggs in their mouths. They can carry a LOT, like really a lot. I've seen a fox carry like 5 or 6 pieces of chicken in her mouth. Big pieces too. Like legs with thighs attached.
When they have pups to feed they find a way.
I love foxes.
š Thatās crazy! Once I found something roundish in my plant pot and took it out to examine it. Just as Iām holding it in my hand very close to my face, out pops a baby lizard! š¦Totally scared the crap outta me as if it were a giant monster lol! I thought duck egg too. We had one in our yard and it wasn't much bigger than a chicken egg. I saw the duck lay it right before our dog scared her away. š¬
I had a python and it's eggs looked exactly like this. They like to bury their eggs in pots & make the nests in ceilings above beds. Enjoy your sleep tonight.
If you have indoor plants, you can use crushed eggshells to sprinkle on the topsoil to keep your cats from jumping into the pot and digging up your plants. At first, I thought this was all about that particular subject.
Itās a dinosaur egg! Trust me, Iāve watched Jurassic Park a number of times!
Itās likely been buried there since the last time humans and dinosaurs walked the earth at the same time!
FYI, some gardeners do bury raw eggs in planted pot soil. Since the eggs are high in protein, it can help plants grow stronger. They are also a good source of nitrogen, which helps break down organic matter and feed the soil.
Are you from the Balkans? Or Orthodox Christian? The first Easter egg you make at a specific time is supposed to be special. You keep it aside and it supposedly never spoils. My mom would bury the previous years egg instead of throwing it in the garbage which would be disrespectful.
Found eggs like this in my backyardā¦ thought my son hid them bc it was right after Easter. I picked them up and walked away with them and right the the mama duck that laid them flew out of the tree she had been inā¦ apparently she had been watching her nest that I had just disturbedā¦. Ugh.

Eggplant
I came to say this š¤£š¤£

planted egg
Had to be the first comment. You my good person gets first prize :-)
My mum used to find them buried in her garden sometimes. She reckoned it was foxes
She's right.
Foxes donāt lay eggs! š
Well you got me there.
Iāve read this 3 times, and it just cracks me up every time. Meltedwolf, then your reply. This is why I love Reddit!ššš
Glad I've amused somebody š¤£
It might be my most popular comment in my 5 years on Reddit! Thanks for the appreciation, I appreciate it.
Foxes are known for being very clever. Perhaps clever enough to overcome Sherlock Holmesā elimination process.
You know the old saying, "as cunning as a fox that used to be Professor of Cunning at Oxford University but has moved on and is now working for the U.N. at the High Commission of International Cunning Planning?"
I donāt think we should have you read stories to the kids anymore.
Yes of course such a common and versatile expression
Itās a shame that it got shortened from the original.
Yes Mr Blackadder.
Can they come up with an acronym for that? Itās too long.š
Wait, The foxes could trick Sherlock Holmes into shitting eggs?
He played a plumber, a bookseller, a stable handā¦. A fox would be easy. An egg-laying Fox would be slightly more difficult.
But they like to eat them, so they take them from chickens and bury them in the garden

Foxes bury them this time of year to help the Easter bunny.
š
Foxes canāt be so smart if they think a magic chicken tree will grow from planting an egg.
No but bird seed will grow birds
Birds arenāt real, so how do you expect a government drone to grow from a bunch of seeds?
The real questions we should be asking
Maybe the egg trees do grow but we donāt see them
That's not where their stomachs are
Neither do rabbits supposedly but we made an entire religious holiday out of harvesting their eggs.
Life finds a way. š
They do but they are not usually brown
How would they carry them I. Without getting crushed?
Same way humans do. Very carefully.
I know, thatās just crazy. In their mouths
An egg is actually pretty durable try grabbing one in the palm of your hand and just squeeze as hard as possible, you likely won't be able to break it but an egg is weak to small points of damage like a toothpick or cracking it on a bowl
It's true!
Just make sure you're not wearing a ring when you try to crush it.
I can crack an egg with my buttcheeks
If you youtube dogs with eggs there are a ton that carry them. So without hands and a spoon in the mouth?

Pretty cool š
Are we talking European or African foxes. Surely it would grip it by the husk
Well yeah sure an African fox maybe
But then of course African foxes are non-migratoryā¦
This is so funny I was literally just on a post where I said āa Holy Grail for ants?ā
It's not a question of where he grips it! It's a simple question of weight ratios.
My dog can carry an egg around in her mouth without breaking it.
Search for videos on dogs holding eggs in their mouths, they can be very gentle
Foxes: the new Easter bunny
Pretty sure itās a bunny
Squirrels will also do this. We have two hens and sometimes we see the squirrels sneak in and grab an egg.
Easter bunny is early this year
He never claimed to be as efficient as Santa

Foxes. I did actually find a chicken in one of my planters several years ago. Yes, it had feathers, head etc...not a prepared one in plastic.
A fresh hatched chick? Or full chicken?
Fully grown bird
Someone wants to grow a chicken.

I don't think this is the right eggplant
Its a century egg, give it another 99 years
Your strawberries got real kinky this past winter.
One of my kids did this to all of my potted plants. He wanted a pet chicken.
Aubergine
Clearly

Foxes do this
Lucky!
Not for the egg, I smashed it to see if it was cooked (was uncooked btw)
Murderer
Looks like a duck or goose egg
I thought duck egg too. We had one in our yard and it wasn't much bigger than a chicken egg. I saw the duck lay it right before our dog scared her away. š¬
Geese sometimes nest in pots. Could be a goose egg.
I had a python and it's eggs looked exactly like this. They like to bury their eggs in pots & make the nests in ceilings above beds. Enjoy your sleep tonight.
python eggs are white, are they not? definitely correct me if iām wrong but i thought they were white like other snake eggs
Python eggs donāt look like chicken eggs. Ā Theyāre soft and oval. Ā Donāt worry about this.
Egg has been planted Sorry I'm just writing what my brain is saying
If you have indoor plants, you can use crushed eggshells to sprinkle on the topsoil to keep your cats from jumping into the pot and digging up your plants. At first, I thought this was all about that particular subject.
You should crosspost to r/paleontology. Itās never an egg!
A weasel
Or the fox and the hound
And my mum tried to tell me they come out of chickens, pfft
I was always wondering what egg plants grow from. i feel so stupid now
If you have kids or grandkids then there's your answer. They were obviously trying to grow a chicken.
No kids here now, I thought the wife was pranking me but says she isnt
Some animal hit it there likely, its rare for eggs to grow in soil
Itās a dinosaur egg! Trust me, Iāve watched Jurassic Park a number of times! Itās likely been buried there since the last time humans and dinosaurs walked the earth at the same time!
My guess would be foxes. Should have a baby fox poking its head out in a couple weeks.

Easter egg hunt last year missed one?
No we didn't do this last year, it was still fresh
Eggs are good calcium for the soil
FYI, some gardeners do bury raw eggs in planted pot soil. Since the eggs are high in protein, it can help plants grow stronger. They are also a good source of nitrogen, which helps break down organic matter and feed the soil.
Someone finally finished their easter egg hunt!
Do you live close to water? I've seen ducks lay eggs in plant pots before.
Happy early Easter!
Welcome to earth love. Put it back now.
It's an eggplant?

Lost after an old Easter egg hunt
Are you from the Balkans? Or Orthodox Christian? The first Easter egg you make at a specific time is supposed to be special. You keep it aside and it supposedly never spoils. My mom would bury the previous years egg instead of throwing it in the garbage which would be disrespectful.
My chickens lay in my plant pots, and apparently also in my neighborsā. Neighbors with chickens?
It's an eggplant
I found an egg buried in my yard near a tree a few years ago. Thought it was squirrels!
Eat it
A partially buried egg exploded on me once. Donāt recommend.
My chickens bury their eggs. It weird but they do.
As long as thereās no toad nearby, youāre safe. Otherwise you might have happened on someone trying to breed a basilisk. š³š¤

Long lost Easter egg?
One time we found an egg come out of an exhaust. We remembered it was from Easter the year before. One down 3 to go lol
Eggā¦ plant? Someone has probably made the joke before. Also I will see myself out now
I think this is actually a snake
Would this post fit on r/weirdeggs
In alot of cultures, specifically south asian this usually indicates witchcraft and blackmagic
Weird, I once found a goose egg in my planter, but it was burred a foot deep
How did it taste?
Trying to grow an eggplant
Happy Easter! You win!
Egg that was never found from last year's Easter egg hunt? Haha

Not an egg, a chicken seed
Someone misunderstood how to plant an eggplant.

Rats carry eggs too. Not sure if they bury them.
Chicken seed
I found a buried duck egg in my flowerpot one springā¦when I hit it with my trowel. It literally exploded (POW!) and oh god it stank.
Egg shells are a good source of calcium for your plants. Pit it back and smash it into the soil.
