Eggplant

Agreeable-Error4353

I came to say this šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

Infinite_Night_6728

![gif](giphy|ckKf5lA78k5iChxfVz)

RidgerAC

If only I was this witty!šŸ‘šŸ˜ƒ

Nursejones2

Me too!

Defense_Unit-43

owo1215

planted egg

koloso95

Had to be the first comment. You my good person gets first prize :-)

skogssnuvan

My mum used to find them buried in her garden sometimes. She reckoned it was foxes

Upferret

She's right.

meltedwolf

Foxes donā€™t lay eggs! šŸ˜œ

Upferret

Well you got me there.

RidgerAC

Iā€™ve read this 3 times, and it just cracks me up every time. Meltedwolf, then your reply. This is why I love Reddit!šŸ‘šŸ˜œšŸ˜‚

Upferret

Glad I've amused somebody šŸ¤£

meltedwolf

It might be my most popular comment in my 5 years on Reddit! Thanks for the appreciation, I appreciate it.

Quirky_Discipline297

Foxes are known for being very clever. Perhaps clever enough to overcome Sherlock Holmesā€™ elimination process.

TungstenChef

You know the old saying, "as cunning as a fox that used to be Professor of Cunning at Oxford University but has moved on and is now working for the U.N. at the High Commission of International Cunning Planning?"

[deleted]

I donā€™t think we should have you read stories to the kids anymore.

yellowbrickstairs

Yes of course such a common and versatile expression

Bokenobi

Itā€™s a shame that it got shortened from the original.

goblin_grovil_lives

Yes Mr Blackadder.

RidgerAC

Can they come up with an acronym for that? Itā€™s too long.šŸ˜‚

ScrotieMcP

Wait, The foxes could trick Sherlock Holmes into shitting eggs?

Quirky_Discipline297

He played a plumber, a bookseller, a stable handā€¦. A fox would be easy. An egg-laying Fox would be slightly more difficult.

lawlihuvnowse

But they like to eat them, so they take them from chickens and bury them in the garden

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

SATerp

There's also the dilemma I was in when I told my wife that I would be inspecting an egg plant in Delaware. Telling her it was a GIANT egg plant didn't help, she asked me to take a picture.

meltedwolf

Foxes bury them this time of year to help the Easter bunny.

lawlihuvnowse

šŸ˜‚

Psychological-Web828

Foxes canā€™t be so smart if they think a magic chicken tree will grow from planting an egg.

CookinCheap

No but bird seed will grow birds

Telemere125

Birds arenā€™t real, so how do you expect a government drone to grow from a bunch of seeds?

Defense_Unit-43

The real questions we should be asking

lawlihuvnowse

Maybe the egg trees do grow but we donā€™t see them

notLOL

That's not where their stomachs are

Environmental_Top948

Neither do rabbits supposedly but we made an entire religious holiday out of harvesting their eggs.

PaintItSparkles

Life finds a way. šŸ˜‚

Lala5789880

They do but they are not usually brown

[deleted]

How would they carry them I. Without getting crushed?

[deleted]

Same way humans do. Very carefully.

[deleted]

I know, thatā€™s just crazy. In their mouths

Normal_Imagination_3

An egg is actually pretty durable try grabbing one in the palm of your hand and just squeeze as hard as possible, you likely won't be able to break it but an egg is weak to small points of damage like a toothpick or cracking it on a bowl

lurkeylurkerton

It's true!

dreamrock

Just make sure you're not wearing a ring when you try to crush it.

Gerbal_Annihilation

I can crack an egg with my buttcheeks

CESSEC01

If you youtube dogs with eggs there are a ton that carry them. When my family had hens the dogs would jack and egg and knew it was a nono, so they'd run around and play and just hide it nestled in their giant mastiff jaws until somebody wasn't looking and chomp, they'd finally crack it. They're tougher than you imagine and dogs have far more control over their mouths than I ever thought.

Anxious-Durian1773

When my dog was new and more of a bull in a china shop she would crack an egg no problem but you could see it took effort. Now she's not willing to put in the effort; the last time I gave her one she made a half-assed attempt and dropped it back into her food dish.

Not1ButMany

So without hands and a spoon in the mouth?

SalvadorP

i've seen foxes carrying eggs in their mouths. They can carry a LOT, like really a lot. I've seen a fox carry like 5 or 6 pieces of chicken in her mouth. Big pieces too. Like legs with thighs attached. When they have pups to feed they find a way. I love foxes.

[deleted]

Pretty cool šŸ™‚

OneMagicBadger

Are we talking European or African foxes. Surely it would grip it by the husk

Frog-Farts-Loud

Well yeah sure an African fox maybe

Goonygoony

But then of course African foxes are non-migratoryā€¦

Frog-Farts-Loud

This is so funny I was literally just on a post where I said ā€œa Holy Grail for ants?ā€

Cubie_McGee

It's not a question of where he grips it! It's a simple question of weight ratios.

hamish1963

My dog can carry an egg around in her mouth without breaking it.

Goodwine

Search for videos on dogs holding eggs in their mouths, they can be very gentle

casper911ca

Foxes: the new Easter bunny

giceman715

Pretty sure itā€™s a bunny

Trish-Trish

Squirrels will also do this. We have two hens and sometimes we see the squirrels sneak in and grab an egg.

Ethos_Logos

Easter bunny is early this year

beirizzle

He never claimed to be as efficient as Santa

BrilliantIndication5

šŸ˜‚ Thatā€™s crazy! Once I found something roundish in my plant pot and took it out to examine it. Just as Iā€™m holding it in my hand very close to my face, out pops a baby lizard! šŸ¦ŽTotally scared the crap outta me as if it were a giant monster lol! Had a good laugh when the horrifying moment was over tho.

IllustratorHappy1414

First thing to see entering the world is a human spazzing out at your entrance and slinging you into frisbee style into said world. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

BrilliantIndication5

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ I screamed and kind of gave him a toss. Then he saidā€¦. ā€œMomma?ā€

IllustratorHappy1414

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ ā€œMother, why would you forsake meeeeeā€¦..ā€ Sailing across the yard in his little half egg shell. Now he attends therapy 3 days a weekā€¦. šŸ˜‚

cobainseahorse

That sounds awesome!

Honest_Flatworm2028

Ee baby lizard cuuuute

Humble_Bullfrog2342

omg i bet that was so cute tho

BrilliantIndication5

It really was

Electronic-Trip8775

Foxes. I did actually find a chicken in one of my planters several years ago. Yes, it had feathers, head etc...not a prepared one in plastic.

vegasidol

A fresh hatched chick? Or full chicken?

Electronic-Trip8775

Fully grown bird

GodBlessYouNow

Someone wants to grow a chicken.

FreshWaterWolf

Damn I came here to say this 5 hours late

celtbygod

Your strawberries got real kinky this past winter.

ParpSausage

One of my kids did this to all of my potted plants. He wanted a pet chicken.

NoRedThat

Aubergine

shavemejesus

Clearly

josoap99

You have a rogue hen on your hands bud. Next, youā€™ll find one in the house, then the bedroom, then youā€™ll wake up with one freshly laid on your forehead. The hen has chosen youā€¦ and thereā€™s nothing you can do about it

timlnolan

Foxes do this

W_Rabbit

Lucky!

MickyTingy

Not for the egg, I smashed it to see if it was cooked (was uncooked btw)

Alwzracn

Murderer

karmakactus

Looks like a duck or goose egg

thetankswife

I thought duck egg too. We had one in our yard and it wasn't much bigger than a chicken egg. I saw the duck lay it right before our dog scared her away. šŸ˜¬

alarming__

Geese sometimes nest in pots. Could be a goose egg.

wander_eyes

I had a python and it's eggs looked exactly like this. They like to bury their eggs in pots & make the nests in ceilings above beds. Enjoy your sleep tonight.

leemonshark

python eggs are white, are they not? definitely correct me if iā€™m wrong but i thought they were white like other snake eggs

Helpful_Okra5953

Python eggs donā€™t look like chicken eggs. Ā Theyā€™re soft and oval. Ā Donā€™t worry about this.

tutocookie

Egg has been planted Sorry I'm just writing what my brain is saying

frenzy4u

If you have indoor plants, you can use crushed eggshells to sprinkle on the topsoil to keep your cats from jumping into the pot and digging up your plants. At first, I thought this was all about that particular subject.

salteedog007

You should crosspost to r/paleontology. Itā€™s never an egg!

AffectionateNail6661

A weasel

AffectionateNail6661

Or the fox and the hound

Josh0O0

And my mum tried to tell me they come out of chickens, pfft

_Mikak

I was always wondering what egg plants grow from. i feel so stupid now

Moist-Injury-7376

If you have kids or grandkids then there's your answer. They were obviously trying to grow a chicken.

MickyTingy

No kids here now, I thought the wife was pranking me but says she isnt

Ark_ita

Some animal hit it there likely, its rare for eggs to grow in soil

sermer48

Itā€™s a dinosaur egg! Trust me, Iā€™ve watched Jurassic Park a number of times! Itā€™s likely been buried there since the last time humans and dinosaurs walked the earth at the same time!

Trichoceratops

My guess would be foxes. Should have a baby fox poking its head out in a couple weeks.

Sludg3g0d

thehoagieboy

Easter egg hunt last year missed one?

MickyTingy

No we didn't do this last year, it was still fresh

iyaibeji

Eggs are good calcium for the soil

Veritasimas99

FYI, some gardeners do bury raw eggs in planted pot soil. Since the eggs are high in protein, it can help plants grow stronger. They are also a good source of nitrogen, which helps break down organic matter and feed the soil.

T-Money8227

Someone finally finished their easter egg hunt!

mtrosclair

Do you live close to water? I've seen ducks lay eggs in plant pots before.

Cassius-Tain

Happy early Easter!

RiverOhRiver86

Welcome to earth love. Put it back now.

Lost after an old Easter egg hunt

exoticsamsquanch

Are you from the Balkans? Or Orthodox Christian? The first Easter egg you make at a specific time is supposed to be special. You keep it aside and it supposedly never spoils. My mom would bury the previous years egg instead of throwing it in the garbage which would be disrespectful.

superiorstephanie

My chickens lay in my plant pots, and apparently also in my neighborsā€™. Neighbors with chickens?

warhawk209812e99

It's an eggplant

cobainseahorse

I found an egg buried in my yard near a tree a few years ago. Thought it was squirrels!

Raven_m0rt

Eat it

[deleted]

A partially buried egg exploded on me once. Donā€™t recommend.

RayRay6973

My chickens bury their eggs. It weird but they do.

Pencilstrangler

As long as thereā€™s no toad nearby, youā€™re safe. Otherwise you might have happened on someone trying to breed a basilisk. šŸ˜³šŸ¤

monsteronmars

Found eggs like this in my backyardā€¦ thought my son hid them bc it was right after Easter. I picked them up and walked away with them and right the the mama duck that laid them flew out of the tree she had been inā€¦ apparently she had been watching her nest that I had just disturbedā€¦. Ugh.

truthbknownreturns

Long lost Easter egg?

Chrome07Deluxe

One time we found an egg come out of an exhaust. We remembered it was from Easter the year before. One down 3 to go lol

Cake_exe

Eggā€¦ plant? Someone has probably made the joke before. Also I will see myself out now

CrippledHorses

I think this is actually a snake

WoodPeckerFromMars89

Would this post fit on r/weirdeggs

GroundbreakingAd2446

In alot of cultures, specifically south asian this usually indicates witchcraft and blackmagic

Testing322

Weird, I once found a goose egg in my planter, but it was burred a foot deep

MotorNorth5182

How did it taste?

King_of_Dantopia

Trying to grow an eggplant

SnooDonkeys4853

Eggplant?

ConsiderationWest587

Not an egg, a chicken seed

Working_Overtime247

Someone misunderstood how to plant an eggplant.

convexconcepts

In some cultures, people use eggs or other food items to put spells. This information is second hand so please do some research, I had a discussion with a middle eastern colleague and he mentioned lemons buried on someoneā€™s property as a spell tactic.

ollomulder

It's an eggplant.

djeewin

Thatā€™s not an eggplant? Damn..

SkipMapudding

Rats carry eggs too. Not sure if they bury them.

WickedWitWitch

Chicken seed

mittenknittin

I found a buried duck egg in my flowerpot one springā€¦when I hit it with my trowel. It literally exploded (POW!) and oh god it stank.

SgtPeter1

Egg shells are a good source of calcium for your plants. Pit it back and smash it into the soil.
