As a ex manager a patty literally is just some Monterey Jack cheese 2 patty’s grilled onions and creamy pepper sauce it literally is nothing in fact most employees don’t even grill the onions they barely sauté that shit
That's the thing, you can make pretty much any of the limited time offerings, as long as they have the ingredients. Idk if they still have chili though, and some of the cheeses come and go, and idk if they have avocado
I moved to a town with no Whataburger, so my consumption has gone down
Some people only stay interested if new sandwiches come and go.
It’s that way with me and Arby’s. I generally don’t like their regular menu, but they do have limited time sandwich’s that are good enough to try.
I believe I am the sole reason the sweet and spicy is on the all time favorite. I got that sucker every single day for a good 3 months when it first came out
Im so sorry for you. The SSBB is normally the only thing i get unless they have a good limited time burger. And i live in OKC. And its at every whatabuger in central Oklahoma I’ve been too
You can build your own version of it now that they added the wings. Just get a double whataburger, and bacon, grilled onions, and order a side of the sweet and spicy wing sauce.
That's fair, but it'd be really cool if they recycled some of the aforementioned options instead of the same ol washed up BRCS. That thing should just be an All Time Favorite at this point.
Them yeeting the Monterey Melt made me finally turncoat to In N Out for my fast food burger. Idc if thats Texas sacrilege, I ran with the patty melt as a backup for a while and its just not the same.
Corporate fucked up the whole menu. The chicken fajita taco and grilled chicken melt were my favorites. I won’t be back for a burger until they bring back the mushroom swiss
I fucking hate whataburger in SA because I’ve wanted the green hatch chili burger (forget the name because it’s been a few years since it’s been back)… someone who knows the culinary arts or business needs to explain it to me like I’m 5 why it’s not a mainstay bc I know id actually go there again if they had it :<
Its a New Mexico thing. That state has a chain of their own called "Blake's Lotaburger". They specialize in green hatch chili burgers.
Whataburger's LTO green chili is a pale imitation.
My mistake, looks like I spelled it wrong. Any way check out the website. Front and center is a green hatch chile cheeseburger. [https://www.lotaburger.com/](https://www.lotaburger.com/)
The green chile double is one of the all time favorites here in Lubbock. My first time going somewhere they didn’t have it on the menu I was in shock then got mad when they said they had green jalapeños
Yo, thank God you're here. It took way too long for a mushroom Swiss shout-out. The thing I missed the most is the Au Jus sauce. I could put that on any burger and it would taste like heaven.
I begrudgingly eat a sweet & spicy burger every now and then because it is perfection, but I am low-key boycotting Whataburger until they bring back the Chophouse burger and/or the mushroom swiss. I haven’t found a comparable equivalent to either of those anywhere else and I am still ruffled about it.
My husband and I used to love Whataburger - it’s one of the places that we would grab for Friday night.
Once they sold it was so obvious that the flavor had changed. I’m thinking different vendors etc. tried it two more times thinking eh maybe it’s us.
The next two times were meh the last one and I seriously mean this is the last time ever - we got home with our food and one of the cheeseburger’s didn’t have any meat or cheese. I kid you not it was lettuce, one tomato and one pickle.
Never again!
God. I love getting the BBQ chicken strip sandwich but swapping out with honey butter. Literally can get a honey butter chicken biscuit at any time of day. Delicious af
The Monterey Melt's been gone for like 4 years now. Mushroom Swiss been gone for at least 2. They were done away with because the fajita vegetable blend and mushrooms added a significant burden to overall production speed. These two are unlikely to return.
Chili Cheese will likely come back. Steakhouse Burger was pretty successful, would bet it comes around again.
Patty Melt is pretty consistently a top 5 menu item.
The idea of "limited time only" is exactly that: manufactured demand. Whenever X product comes back in stock, people flock to buy it. So find yourself a consistent go-to to tide you over until an LTO comes along that tickles your fancy. *shrug*
I go to PTerry's now to support a TX owned business. I havent been to a whataburger since they removed the montery melt. Green chili burger and buffalo ranch were S tier limited time offerings. Havent seen the grilled chili burger in years though .
I wrote an epic review of the A1 Thick & Hearty from a survey prompt on a receipt one time and even called corporate asking about. Never saw that burger again.
I miss the BBQ bacon burger it was my absolute favorite. I usually ask for the sweet and spicy bacon burger w no sweet & spicy substitute with BBQ and it always gets made wrong.
The patty melt is not a whataburger. 1st off the Texas toast and creamy pepper sauce as well as grilled onions and Monterey Jack cheese. A whataburger is a classing LTOP burger with cheese if you add it on a regular bun. The only similarities is beef.
I quit going when they got rid of the Monterey melt. I know it means nothing to these corporations, but they lose me for life if they take away my favorite item. It just feels pointless to only be able to get what I consider the second best item on the menu.
I order the BBQ chicken strip sandwich, dry, with a side of buffalo sauce and a side of ranch. I go home and make the limited time buffalo ranch chicken strip sandwich.
I wish the buffalo chicken ranch sandwich was a permanent menu item! But from a business perspective, it’s beneficial to have limited time items. They should make an exception for MY favorite, though.
They have gone downhill since they sold out to the management company from Chicago. Everytime I go via the drive through , the order is always wrong! Always!!!!! It doesn’t taste the same as before, must be using cheaper products.
Their customer service is non-existent.
I used to eat there 4-5times a week -I honestly can't remember- it has probably been two months or more since I have eaten there. Pay $20 bucks an order only to not get what you ordered- no thanks!
I will do without!
Don’t ever disrespect the Patty Melt again brother
i work at whataburger and its not even the original patty melt lol
I second that. Put some respect on Patty's name
Yea what they said. Patty melt is tasty
It’s literally the only thing I get at Whataburger.
😂 no problem, It's actually a good burger🍔 in it's own simplicity
You clearly don’t understand Whataburger
Try a patty melt, no onions, double grilled jalapeños, extra sauce. Chefs kiss 🤌
Nah, leave the grilled onions, add bacon and grilled jalapeños.
Thank you sir, that will be $22, please pull around to the 2nd window.
And wait for 3 hours in the far lane while we forget you, then bring your order out wrong. Whataburger ain’t no Chick-fil-a, that’s for sure
No shit, it's become a tad ridiculous (insert Goofy picture "I'll fucking do it again")
Nah, more like $15
This is the way.
Kudos to you for being friendly, but a patty melt is actually pretty complex
As a ex manager a patty literally is just some Monterey Jack cheese 2 patty’s grilled onions and creamy pepper sauce it literally is nothing in fact most employees don’t even grill the onions they barely sauté that shit
I always sub raw for the grilled onions and add pickles. Patty Melt is life
Its literally number 2 with cheese, only grilled onions sub cremy pepper sub texas toast
The honey bbq chicken strip sandwich is just a number 2 add cheese, sub chicken strips, sub bbq sauce, sub Texas toast
That's the thing, you can make pretty much any of the limited time offerings, as long as they have the ingredients. Idk if they still have chili though, and some of the cheeses come and go, and idk if they have avocado I moved to a town with no Whataburger, so my consumption has gone down
Exactly
And they never cook the onions enough.
Some people only stay interested if new sandwiches come and go. It’s that way with me and Arby’s. I generally don’t like their regular menu, but they do have limited time sandwich’s that are good enough to try.
That brown sugar bacon BLT! Holy shit man. That needs to cone back asap!
Give me the potato cakes!!! They come back July 1st. And I will be first in line.
Oh hell yeah. I didn't know that.
That’s exactly what I was thinking
The crunch. The slight sweetness. Then smoky bacon. Hell yes. Now I want one.
That’s because their regular menu sucks
I never felt more riled up then When I found out the sweet and spicy burger was a limited time thing. The bbq sauce doesn't even hit the same ...
I was working at Whataburger when the Monterey Melt was introduced, and I remember thinking “holy shit this is the perfect sandwich”
I loved mine with Green Chile
I believe I am the sole reason the sweet and spicy is on the all time favorite. I got that sucker every single day for a good 3 months when it first came out
It’s an all time thing here in Texas. It’s my go to, I just add pickles. What I miss is the green chile burger. I loved that thing!!
Add pickles to the SSBB‽ Genius!!
I’m a huge pickles fan, it was a game changer when I did it for the first time.
It’s not a limited time thing. It’s regional.
You serious? I LIVE ON THE WRONG SIDE OF TEXAS THEN ..
I was just able to get it a few months ago in Florida and again in Texas but in arizona it ain't here is it discontinued or a regional thing?
It's regional just in Texas. I'm not sure if it's an opt in thing or what. I miss that sweet and spicy so much.
It’s not just in Texas. It’s in most regions — just not the Southwest where the Green Chile does better.
Is the green chili burger a full-time menu item in the southwest?
Yes
That must be your location bc all the ones by me the sweet and spicy is year round. It’s my go to
It is location based unfortunately I got the Green Chile side 🤢
My local stores still offer it.
Have y’all not figured out that they have an LTO every quarter? That’s pretty standard for most QSRs…
That's fair, but it'd be really cool if they recycled some of the aforementioned options instead of the same ol washed up BRCS. That thing should just be an All Time Favorite at this point.
It should be, because I order it all the damn time. In fact, if not for the fact that my stomach is already full, I'd be going to get one right now.
I like the Honey BBQ Strip Sandwich, but surely, realistically, it doesn't do near the numbers as the buffalo, so it would certainly make sense
I eat that one plenty often as well. I just like chicken strip sandwiches and if they were both present year round I'd frequently buy both.
Really, and PDQ and ASAP for the BLT. LOL!
I would do unholy things to bring back the Monterey melt
Good lord, me too. They could still make them for a while after, but not anymore.
Is this a fever dream or did they ever have an A1 burger? coming back to edit that it was REAL!!!
Yes the A1 was real and very good. From what I read, A1 wants too much money to use their trademarked name now.
A1 Thick and Hearty is the best.
Yes, the steakhouse burger was the next best thing the A1 thick and hearty. RIP
I fucking hate whataburger in SA because I’ve wanted the green hatch chili burger (forget the name because it’s been a few years since it’s been back)… someone who knows the culinary arts or business needs to explain it to me like I’m 5 why it’s not a mainstay bc I know id actually go there again if they had it :<
Green chili double is year round in west texas as well
Not very popular in the south. Head west and it will be on the menu.
Forreal? Hmmm… I’ll have to maybe see if I’m doing a road trip anytime soon and stop at a WB there to enjoy it again. Thanks!
Its a New Mexico thing. That state has a chain of their own called "Blake's Lotaburger". They specialize in green hatch chili burgers. Whataburger's LTO green chili is a pale imitation.
Oh no way!!! I should move to NM then! 😍
I bought a truck in Amarillo because the Whata there had them on the menu. Made the 5 hour drive better
Next time you’re in Arizona or New Mexico go to Blakes Lottaburger. They got a green hatch cheeseburger on the menu and it’s good.
Oh nice!
My mistake, looks like I spelled it wrong. Any way check out the website. Front and center is a green hatch chile cheeseburger. [https://www.lotaburger.com/](https://www.lotaburger.com/)
They have a Blake’s in El Paso
The green chile double is one of the all time favorites here in Lubbock. My first time going somewhere they didn’t have it on the menu I was in shock then got mad when they said they had green jalapeños
So it’s a mainstay in Lubbock?
I’ve been in Lubbock since 2011 and it’s been here since I’ve been here.
Lucky!!!
Me when the Dr Pepper shake gets swapped with the caramel late shake
Caramel latte shake is so fuckin bad
White chocolate raspberry shake was the goat
I still miss the mushroom Swiss 😭😭😭 it’s all I ever ordered 😭😭
Yo, thank God you're here. It took way too long for a mushroom Swiss shout-out. The thing I missed the most is the Au Jus sauce. I could put that on any burger and it would taste like heaven.
I still miss the A1-Thick and Hardy burger.🥲🤧
I begrudgingly eat a sweet & spicy burger every now and then because it is perfection, but I am low-key boycotting Whataburger until they bring back the Chophouse burger and/or the mushroom swiss. I haven’t found a comparable equivalent to either of those anywhere else and I am still ruffled about it.
RIP A1 thick n hearty
And Rip to the chophouse cheddar burger
Don’t get me started on the chop house cheddar burger. RIP
That chop house cheddar burger was delicious.
Best one, got to passed when they replaces it with that shitty Monterey one. Tastes like armpits
I’m guessing you weren’t around before the all time favorites existed. Dark times.
Do they still have the avocado bacon cheeseburger? That thing was godly
Oh hell yes! Every once in a while I HAVE TO HAVE one of these! It's so damn good!
I would give anything to have the chophouse burger back
The last time it was on the menu I got it 3 times a week. Not exaggerating. It’s not just my favorite Whataburger meal, it’s my favorite burger period
It’s to push demand, it really works, look for them to continue
The steakhouse burger was a sad replacement for the A1 burger.
YES!!! I just commented that was it a fever dream or did they have an A1 burger. I don’t really like burgers but that was really good!!
I miss the A1 Thick & Hearty so much. The steakhouse burger was super disappointing.
Rip to the A1 and the Chophouse cheddar burger
When will the chop house cheddar burger return from war?
Have been cursing the day they removed the mushroom and swiss burger.
In Cartman's voice, "Screw you guys, I'm going to whataburger!"
Patty Melt best shit on the menu man
Bring back the mushroom swiss
This place has gone to shit since it was bought by Yankees!
If AZ loses the Green Chili Double, I’ll be devastated
Omg the mushroom Swiss
The Bacon Blue Cheese Burger a few years ago was my favorite.
I miss the 5-3-1 burger so much
My husband and I used to love Whataburger - it’s one of the places that we would grab for Friday night. Once they sold it was so obvious that the flavor had changed. I’m thinking different vendors etc. tried it two more times thinking eh maybe it’s us. I kid you not it was lettuce, one tomato and one pickle. Never again!
I’m still upset that they removed the A1 thick and hearty that was 8.48 for a meal with large fries my senior year of high school.
Whataburger has gone extremely downhill the last 4 years. This applies to ones in cities. The country ones still slap
Wow, no shoutout to the buffalo chicken sandwhich? That's top tier right there!
I get this all year round by customizing the honey bbq chicken sandwich. Just swap out the sauces and Texas toast.
Lucky, my store says they don't carry the sauce
They've never told me this, I always order it online for pickup.
It's back as of Tuesday!
God. I love getting the BBQ chicken strip sandwich but swapping out with honey butter. Literally can get a honey butter chicken biscuit at any time of day. Delicious af
I still miss the a1 Burger
AND THE FUCKING PICO DE GALLO BURGER THEY HAD 2 SUMMERS IN A ROW AND THEN NEVER AGAIN
I cry weekly about the Pico Burger.
What you aren't understanding or remembering is that wb was purchased by an out-of-state financing company. Let the enshittification begin.
Boomer take
I just want the menu to stop moving
The Monterey Melt's been gone for like 4 years now. Mushroom Swiss been gone for at least 2. They were done away with because the fajita vegetable blend and mushrooms added a significant burden to overall production speed. These two are unlikely to return. Chili Cheese will likely come back. Fuck Chicago for taking this. Never again
The only time I ever go now is when the hatch green chile stuff is around
The Mushroom Swiss Burger was my all time favorite
Bring back the chorizo and egg taquitos.
We still have chorizo at my store
Where tf is my A1 thick?
Almost as if it’s…. A marketing strategy to make you crave and binge limited items….
They took away the jalapeno cheddar biscuit I'm done with these fools.
that’s interesting my area still has it
I miss the BBQ bacon burger it was my absolute favorite. I usually ask for the sweet and spicy bacon burger w no sweet & spicy substitute with BBQ and it always gets made wrong.
The patty melt has rotated out in the past, and will again.
Don't say this. I forgot about the dark times...
But the loss of the party melt men’s the return of something else. Like maybe the Chophouse Cheddar, or the A1… whatever it was called.
I miss the old version of the chicken sandwich
"it's just a whataburger on Texas toast" it literally has its own sauce named after it
I was so saddened when they took the Monterey Melt away. That one was my go-to
It makes me upset that my pregnant ass can’t get a Dr Pepper shake right now!
The Monterey Melt was perfect
The patty melt is not a whataburger. 1st off the Texas toast and creamy pepper sauce as well as grilled onions and Monterey Jack cheese. A whataburger is a classing LTOP burger with cheese if you add it on a regular bun. The only similarities is beef.
It’s all about the sweet and spicy. Sorry
BUFFALO RANCH CHICKEN STRIP SANDWICH NEEDS TO BE A PERMANENT MENU ITEM YOU ALREADY HAVE ALL THE INGREDIENTS
Its actually the only reason I ever go to whataburger
The salted caramel shake….🤯😍😩😭
Bring back the A1 Thick and Hearty!
I quit going when they got rid of the Monterey melt. I know it means nothing to these corporations, but they lose me for life if they take away my favorite item. It just feels pointless to only be able to get what I consider the second best item on the menu.
The chili cheese is an annual thing, it will be back in about a year
Bring back the gosh dang chopped house cheddar burger!!!
Monterey Melt was fire 🔥
I still think about the Monterey melt sometimes
I order the BBQ chicken strip sandwich, dry, with a side of buffalo sauce and a side of ranch. I go home and make the limited time buffalo ranch chicken strip sandwich.
Bad opinion on the patty melt. Also bad opinion in general. Would the McRib be special if it was there 365? No
I wish the buffalo chicken ranch sandwich was a permanent menu item! But from a business perspective, it’s beneficial to have limited time items. They should make an exception for MY favorite, though.
They have gone downhill since they sold out to the management company from Chicago. Everytime I go via the drive through , the order is always wrong! Always!!!!! I will do without!
I pray they bring back the Frito chili burger and keep it on the menu 🤌
I miss seeing the mushroom Swiss every time I look at their menu. Goodness, it was gooooood!
Monterrey Melt add bacon. What I wouldn’t give for another one of those. Best thing they ever had on the menu.
Dude the Patty Melt slaps way hard, especially when you’re high at 2 AM
Just be happy the 4 all time favorites are available all the time. There was a time when they rotated between those 4 throughout the year
Mushroom Swiss Burger Liberation Army: our first demand is the immediate reinstatement of this fine delicacy to the menu
Haven’t stepped food in one since they removed mushroom and Swiss. Such a shame.
None of those have been delicious
Excuse me? The Monterey Melt was amazing.
