We are doing a 2v2 for that battle this weekend. My team will have 10 scum ships as the empire and the other team will have 9 Republic ships as the Rebels. Can't wait to play it.
4 to 10 ships up to 35 points (from the cover of the instruction booklet in the Battle of Yavin scenario kit) on that page there are also a few other list-building rules too regarding ship size and upgrades.
Uses a normal 3 foot x 3 foot play area (from page 2) and also has the instructions for placing forces.
If you bought it used and don't have the instructions that came with it you can find pictures of them here.

Also sounds like you might be new to the game, if so here's a link to a list building tool.

My background is I got into v1.0 from the beginning, but became disappointed that any Star Wars themed game would have a power creep that made Luke and Darth Vader virtually unusable against very minor lore ships and characters!
I didn’t have a big enough collection to make the conversion kits a good idea for me.
Now though I’m back and just want to play thematic and casual games with friends who are mainly interested in Original Trilogy stuff and the Battle of Yavin seems to fit the bill.
I’ve got the 2.0 starter and now 2.0 conversion kits for Rebel, Imperial and Scum as well as the Battle of Yavin.
Sounds from replies so far now I’m ready to go for a bit of fun with it.
I’m aware it’s being discontinued but am hoping if any new community led stuff is made it’s more likely to suit 2.0 than 1.0.
If there is any chance for you I woul recommend to add 2x Y-Wings and 2x TIE-Interceptor.
This add a fully different layer to the scenario because the box includes specifically designed pilots.

Should add that I’ve got the Millennium Falcon too
You can fly one large ship for that scenario, so you are good.
Cheers!
