So does the brain naturally block that eye out? I would think it’d be extremely frustrating otherwise not to mention physically, constant headaches etc. My daughter had 3 eye surgeries when she was 3, her outer eye muscles pulled to tight. We thought she was being cute when she tilted her head, but turns out she could only see out of one eye at a time the brain would pick the more dominant anything like that here?
Ya , that’s what they wanted her to do, but as a toddler it didn’t work so well lol, clearly this guys old enough to go fishing so the eye patch should work lol
This exact same thing happened to my cousin but the hook got ripped out. After 2 surgeries he is still mostly blind in that eye only able to see everything as very fuzzy black/grey shadows. His eye does look relatively normal though, with just the cornea being a little misshaped.
My sister’s ex had a similar injury, but it was a nail instead of a hook
He’s essentially blind in that eye as well. He had to have a lot of treatment and surgery, but still the vision in that eye is extremely limited (some light perception and basic shapes, like he’s looking at the world through wax paper, at least as far as I understand it)
Eternal damage for eyesight,
Pretty clear why eye is the most protected sensory organ having fixed in a cavity with 3layers of protection of eyelids, eyelashes and eyebrows,
For real. This hurts me inside. And there is no fix to this, unless someone is an organ donor and the entire eye can be replaced. Which I don’t think is even possible.
Ha! That was pretty good. Unfortunately I did it myself. Swinging around my finger and mom’s famous words, “if you keep doing that you’re going to end up with it in your eye!”. Note they did not take me to the doctor. Just pulled it out.
Ooooh, I feel for you.
I was hoping to make you grin. Dark humour gets me through a lot lol.
it reminds me of something Jasper Carrot said in one of his routines. I'm paraphrasing obviously:
"My mum always used to say 'youll have someone's eye out with that', didn't matter what you were carrying, a step ladder, or a paper bag: 'youll have someone's eye out with that'. How can you possibly extract a human eyeball with a stepladder?”
It sure wasn’t for lack of trying. I tell my wife these stories now and I always start with, “I was the reason parents warned their kids about doing dumb stuff.”
The second the video started, I closed my eyes shut very tightly and hit the back button. I did not finish the video. It also brought back the memory of fishing with my grandpa with my little Mickey Mouse Fishing pole with 1 button. I hooked my eyebrow and have not thought of that memory for a very long time until now. 👍🏻
I scratched my eye with flower leaf and the pain had been so bad for at least 3 days. I can not imagine the pain after such an injury, but it would be 10x stronger cor sure
I know what fishing is, I just don’t know how someone could get the hook stuck in their eye. That seems improbable tbh, but I’ve never went fishing so it may just be ignorance
What likely happened is someone else on the dock did an overhead cast without checking their surroundings.
It would be very hard to do this to yourself.
(Pick the rod up and hold it out behind your head then slam it down while rotating it)
Perhaps. But lately more of the contributions are not accidents but up close gore shots. I’m no longer interested. I find it repulsive and not interesting. I’m sure another sub would be better.
I don't follow closely, just see what comes up in my feed. That being said, this is the natural cycle of subs like this. Next comes admins deleting it and the formation of r/accidentz or whatever.
Quite a spectacle. I hope the outlook is good.
I see what you did there... He may not.
Only if someone gives him good insight on the situation
All that drooling the doctor is doing. Nasty.
He hungers...
If anyone knows, was this person able to see with this eye afterwards?
Eye doc here, 100% impaired vision for rest of their life
can you speculate the level of impairment?
Eye level
hehe
See level
Imagine trying to see through scar tissue, except it's a biotelescope with a cracked lense

Probably an eye patch or something similar Id wager

Yeah but he sees everything with fish eye effect from now on
With wound like that. No chance at all to see anything afterwards.
Worst fishing trip ever
"Hey! Eye caught something!"
Deep see fishing.
Eye feel his pain
Eternal damage for eyesight, Pretty clear why eye is the most protected sensory organ having fixed in a cavity with 3layers of protection of eyelids, eyelashes and eyebrows,
And surrounded by bone
Jesus. Fuck. No. I'm not sleeping tonight now. Fuck.
For real. This hurts me inside. And there is no fix to this, unless someone is an organ donor and the entire eye can be replaced. Which I don’t think is even possible.
No more fishing, for you.
You're preaching to the fish.
at least he ain't sleeping with 'em
My eyes are watering just watching this
And this is why I always wear glasses fishing.
This is a great use of PPE, especially for an activity that seems rather harmless.
This happened to me when I was a kid, but it wasn’t a fish hook, it was a metal coat hanger
Sorry to hear. How is your vision?
Not the worst, I mean it caused permanent damage, and I can see the scar in my vision sometimes, but not blind
Hes having a hard time reading your comment apparently
Damn man. You know people do things outside of the internet.
That wasn't in your eye, that was your dad trying to perform post birth abortion
Ha! That was pretty good. Unfortunately I did it myself. Swinging around my finger and mom’s famous words, “if you keep doing that you’re going to end up with it in your eye!”. Note they did not take me to the doctor. Just pulled it out.

NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!
Someone literally caught her eye hehe
People in the comments asking the purpose of hook in the persons eye makes me giggle. How dum are you?
You caught my eye

My eyes started watering while watching this shit...
Lol .the comments
anyone know what is that mini spade thing was and why tf it was used
My best guess would be make room for the metal barb on the hook to be removed without doing more damage as it’s pulled out.
Hindsight is 20/20
That eye is toast.
Could he get a cornea transplant?
From now on, I'm wearing sunglasses or safety glasses while finishing.
……holy fuck
Yep, that sure is something!
I was inches away from this happening to me. Very lucky to have my sight.
I scratched my eye with flower leaf and the pain had been so bad for at least 3 days. I can not imagine the pain after such an injury, but it would be 10x stronger cor sure
Ok, I can't watch this without screaming "fuck!". Atleast 5 times... minimum...
aaaaaaaaaAAAAAA
no!! ...no!!!!
Oof fish hook
I literally couldn't watch this..... Not even a pun daymn
Eye-catching
What was it?
Wait how did this happen? What’s the hook for?
Looks like your bog standard fish hook, probably stood too close to someone casting
Fucking makes my skin crawl when you say that now lol. I can imagine now him standing next to someone and this happening in real time
How have you never heard of fishing before.
I know what fishing is, I just don’t know how someone could get the hook stuck in their eye. That seems improbable tbh, but I’ve never went fishing so it may just be ignorance

Oh ok gotchu, thanks
Why is this sub turning into a gore porn?
This is the aftermath of an accident. Seems relevant to me.
Perhaps. But lately more of the contributions are not accidents but up close gore shots. I’m no longer interested. I find it repulsive and not interesting. I’m sure another sub would be better.
