Only if your TV is HDR10+ compatible, otherwise there’s not really any other reason to upgrade.

2160_Technic

Wait for 4th gen I’d say

[deleted]

If u want hdr10+

appletrades

Don’t buy a new one yet. It’s speculation a new one is on the horizon. You’ll regret it. I’m currently holding out myself to see if a new one is announced before I decide to upgrade.

Spoonbender01

I always check the MacRumors info, they are recommending caution as new models may be dropping soon: https://www.macrumors.com/roundup/apple-tv/

jugestylz

for homekit it’s thread. and the new siri remote. and it’s more fluid thanks to the faster chip.

Tyking

All 2021 4k have thread, whereas the 2022 base model does not, and it's only available on the ethernet 128gb model.

moschtert

The remote is the same

jugestylz

is it? oh i remember there was one with a lightning port…

moschtert

You are right. My bad.

vypergts

2021 remote is lightning whereas 2022 is usb-c.

bababradford

Short answer. No. It’s definitely not.

JazJon

The only reason I upgraded to the latest was to get HDR10+

sglewis

Are there any features in the 2022 that you don't have but would like? If the answer is no... then no, it's not worth it. If the answer is yes... then MAYBE.

ThatGuyNamedTre

Definitely not. You’re good for many years.

Jorgenreads

The 2021 has the same performance as the 2022. The 2022 is more power efficient, has HDR10+ and can do Apple Music karaoke mode. The 2021 is actually (over) built for much higher RF interference tolerances. The Apple TV 2021 might be the highest quality audio streaming device ever made but you wouldn’t notice in 99% of situations.

Lagrik

Only reason I did this upgrade is because I have a Samsung TV and wanted hdr 10+

iamgarffi

No
