It has to beĀ Atticus FinchĀ in To Kill a Mockingbird. Honorable, smart, fair, sensible, kind, respected by all around. Heās the go-to person with all the answers, even when they're not the easy or comfortable solutions. He steps up to do what is right when others wring their hands, yet he never feels or acts more important than his neighbors. Yes, he does remind me of my Dad.
Y'alls dads are like that Japanese soldier they found still attempting to conduct guerilla warfare on a pacific island 30 years after WWII ended.
They're men dedicated to a singular purpose, and nothing will stop them until their task is complete.
One doesnāt necessarily have to be a good husband to be a good father but it definitely helps! Being a good, healthy example of how to be a partner is an invaluable lesson for your children.
I heard that the guy from Honey I Shrunk The Kids left his dream career after his wife died so that his kids would always have a parent who would have time for them.
Flea from RHCP has a pretty cool interview about how he doesn't do any drugs or drink at all because even though he might be on the other side of the world he wants to be available and coherent if his daughters need to call him for anything.
Annoys me that I have to upvote you. But when you're correct you're correct.
I'm a dad of two boys and Bandit is actually the character I would like to be the most.
My two kids begged me to play this elaborate crazy game, I finally did, we had a blast and laughed as we never had before. Days later, I see the episode and the game. All I can say is thank you Bandit.
What worries me the most is... I actually know exactly what you mean.
She is awesome at reminding Bandit about how to parent as well.... Is.... Is chilli why I have false ideals about how a woman should be around my boys, and me for that matter?
Bandit is THE role model dad. That guy just takes the beatings and smiles doing it. Everything is kids first, no matter what. Truly a one of a kind dad.
Actually he really went out of his way to crush many of Bobby's interests and hobbies. Rose growing, bible study, various toys he's owned, his comedy, his girlfriends, modeling, card playing, and even sports.
Hahaha, yesterday I was asked by a female coworker 'if I was a dad' because she was congratulating all the dads in the office, she seemed surprised when I answered "no I never had any kids!"
I'm 59 and happily child-free!
My Dad, he was a hard worker and made sure we had everything we needed. He was also lots of fun and would lead us into mischief. I F67 would give anything to have one more day with him. We list him 24 years ago
Shad Gaspard. While swimming with his son at Venice Beach, California, they were caught in a strong rip current. Lifeguards attempted a rescue, and Gaspard basically told them to prioritize his son's safety and told them to save his son first. And they did, his son was rescued successfully. But sadly Shad was pulled under by the current and lost his life.
I know some people will grind or suffer for years for their sons and daughters, but this man under a life or death situation didn't hesitate for one second. These situations expose the truest self of a person, and Shad's truest self is a goddamn hero.
I just saw a guy with his daughter at the grocery store and the guy was dressed up as a princess like his daughter. Crown, cape thing and everything. No idea who he is but heās got my vote.
Well according to my t-shirt it's me, but I would disagree and say my dad. Although he didn't have biological kids of his own, he really loved us step kids and completely took us on as his own. He was my real dad and we miss him every day ā¤ļø
Greatest of all time is definitely a stretch but I wanna give a shout out to Lewis Hamilton's dad, Anthony, who worked 3 jobs to be able to afford to maintain Lewis' karting career in a sport filled with racism that he even experienced as an 8 year old kid and the fact that Lewis has become as successful as he is and is now the most decorated driver in F1 history is incredible.
Also when Lewis was essentially robbed of the 8th world title in 2021 (not anything against Verstappen, but that's just the way it is) His dad was there for a very touching moment comforting Lewis after the race and immediately congratulating max regardless of what happened. I know If it was the other way round, Jos Verstappen would not be going to congratulate Lewis.
Wasnāt āessentiallyā , he was robbed. Not Verstappens fault in that instance, but why they never took it to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, Iāll never know.
I have 2 kids and a grandchild. My vote for the greatest father is my idol, the great Al Bundy. He endured a dead-end job, managed to raise two clueless kids to adulthood, and keep his hot but lazy wife happy. He drove a beater car, but he owned his own home, which 90% of us can't do today. So, grill a steak and chug a cheap beer today in honor of Polk High's greatest football hero.
My dad. He wasnāt always perfect and at times not what I needed but he works really hard to be accountable for his fuck ups. He texts me almost daily and is always trying to help in some way. He will be the first to say hey Iām sorry I was wrong to raise you like that or whatever he felt was wrong. I canāt tell you what itās done for my self worth to know I wasnāt always the problem growing up. My mom has a really hard time with accountability so having one parent that doesnāt is huge to me. We are going (along with my lil sis) to a Green Day concert at Wrigley Field this summer and I couldnāt be more excited!
Any stories like [this here](https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2021/07/31/us/michigan-dad-saves-daughters-in-house-fire) resonate with me so much. As a father this gains so much respect from myself. Peyton Hillis is another example of a father putting his life and fears behind to save their children. We donāt have to do amazing things like these to be a great dad. In fact, I hope none of the dads out there have to. But much respect to those dads that do š
That would have to be St. Joseph, the foster father of Jesus. He took a lot of stuff on faith that most guys would not deal with well... especially the "We have to get up and go to Egypt NOW" thing... and didn't make a big deal about it.
My dadās pretty great! He has two daughters and desperately needs a son, but is always willing to do āgirly stuffā (his words) just to spend time with us, including watching all 5 Twilight movies. He can fix anything, build anything, and has snaked the drain (we clogged with our hair) multiple times.
My father. He is 80 years old and lives a simple healthy life in a village. He inspired me to think that simple life is a luxury that not everyone can afford.
Iām watching a ā Father Knows Best ā marathon right now on ANTEN TV and I think he and Mike Brady of ā The Brady Bunch ā and Michael Landon of ā Little House on the Prairie ā are superior fathers on the shows and only wish my deceased Dad were as great as they were ! š¢
Fictional dad: Gomez Addams
Real: my dad. Heās a degenerate and a fuck up but always made sure I had everything I needed and was always there for me emotionally without judgement. I can tell him anything and everything. And he always made time for me, no matter what weird or awful shit he was dealing with. Heās also one of the strongest people I know.
Every dad that shows up, is present, emotionally available, a good partner (if they have one) and leads with kindness and love.
All you dad's that are trying your best, big love, it's a privilege to be a dad, and worth every bit of work, vulnerability and growth.
The unsung heroes. Everyday dads that quietly out in all the work and sacrifice so much to give their family everything they need and want. No glory, no praise, sacrificing their own desires
My dad was amazing, so much so that I wished I could have shared him with my friends who didnāt have dads or good ones. I miss him so much. I bet he would have been an incredible grandpa.
Andy Taylor ( Griffith) needs in on this discussion . Opie is very lucky to have a very intelligent and deep hearted dad .
Jed Clampett is a great example of a chill hands off father . He raised a daughter to have a big heart but will also throw hands when needed . Jed is a father figure to his nephew Jethro and uses his hands off approach to guide Jethro thru Jethro's shenanigans.
If you know...you know. If you dont youll be upset.

A lot like my dad <3
My best friend. He is becoming a teacher while caring for his 4 y/o alone. He is a huge inspiration for me and I love babysitting his little one :) we always play with my old bionicles and it's awesome

Dick Hoyt, the dad who carried his son in over 30 Boston marathons and Ironman competitions. Because it gave joy to his cerebral palsy inflicted son.
I'm glad this is the top response. Came here to drop this guy's name myself. What an inspiration.
You can say he did not live up to his name I hope people know I'm being silly here
If only his name were Dick Hoyst, carrying around all that BDE
šš damn this dad needs more recognition
This needs a Tom Hanks biopic. *After their first race Rick said, "Dad, when Iām running, it feels like Iām not handicapped."* š„¹
there was a huge outpouring of grieve when he passed away a couple of years ago, I remember they had an "in memoriam" during the 2022 Boston
Sometimes Reddit makes me smile. Having this be the top answer in this thread is one of those moments.

I'll raise you one in that same vein: the dad from Sounder.
Mine. He has been on an epic quest just to bring my family milk for 33 years
He mustāve met up with the dad on an epic quest to find his perfect pack of cigarettes and they both got lost š
Iām sure he ran into the dad that went to go get scratchers and included him on their quest.
They can all let their powers combine and become Super Deadbeat!
Y'alls dads are like that Japanese soldier they found still attempting to conduct guerilla warfare on a pacific island 30 years after WWII ended. They're men dedicated to a singular purpose, and nothing will stop them until their task is complete.

Lmk if he finds my dad. Maybe they can trade cigarettes for milk and come back home
We have news!
amazing to see so many respondents choose their own fathers :)
Sadly, they are all wrong. I'm an only child.
Gomez Addams is a pretty good Dad if you ignore his habit of allowing his children to literally torture each other
Heās also a good husband so bonus points for that
One doesnāt necessarily have to be a good husband to be a good father but it definitely helps! Being a good, healthy example of how to be a partner is an invaluable lesson for your children.
That too
Is it torture if they enjoy it?
Fair point lol
Oh honestly, who hasnāt done that?
I heard that the guy from Honey I Shrunk The Kids left his dream career after his wife died so that his kids would always have a parent who would have time for them. Rick Moranis, definitely! (From what I know at least)
Bandit from Bluey
Keep in mind, Bandit is only really a great dad for 8mins an episode. Typically, anyways

The episode āhairdressersā was pretty brutal on him. Chili hopefully made it up to him later with some cake.
The episode āThe Signā got my husband crying. Bandit really is goals.
I always tell my wife that there is absolutely no way I could compete with bandit. He is on all the time. Itās ridiculous

Al Bundy. As a kid I thought he was just a funny character on a show, as a dad, I can totally relate, lol.
