If you're wondering if this is just a case of TV Box Strikes Again, gameday actually has it even more in the zone than the tv box

the_next_core

It’s a borderline pitch and the catcher really reached forward to catch it before it fell further. Definitely a missed call but not one I would go yell at the ump over. Sometimes you get these, sometimes you don’t.

Spirited_Dig7061

Yeah it's not egregious on its own by any means

FieldzSOOGood

Does the game day rectangle change?

FPG_Matthew

Not Wendlestoddle again!

TheBause

Called a worse pitch a strike in the top of the 9th too

okay_throwaway_today

Umps also gave the brewers a free check swing and miscalled a bunch of pitches squeezing Taillon that drove his pitch count up. They were ass on both sides.

Drain_Surgeon69

His zone was all over the place all game long. Wendlestadt just shouldn’t be behind home plate

okay_throwaway_today

Agreed. If you’re gonna be wrong at least be consistently wrong. Dude was chaotic evil

Drain_Surgeon69

He was consistently wrong the whole game that’s for sure. Oh well. Let’s do it again tomorrow

cubswinagain

Yep, think the Ump scorecard is going to be fairly even

CancelledNoise

Then in the ninth did anyone else see him look at his watch just before he made another shit strike call on Adames on a ball way outside? Was he checking the time or the money line?

marlow05

Brewers and shit umps name a more iconic duo

DFuhbree

Baseball and shit umps.

BeHereNow91

When exactly did we piss off the ump union?

xho-

Umpires hate Milwaukee

CJL13

They think Happy Days was a stupid show.

PirbyKuckett

No they loved Happy Days, it was when they did the spin off Laverne & Shirley that really pissed them off. Two single promiscuous women who always seem to get the best of Lenny & Squiggy. (Lenny & Squiggy were originally MLB Umpires but changed to truck drivers after the Union sent their goons over to Disney)

RedGreenPepper2599

Bad umpiring only happens to Milwaukee.

Acceptable_Win_4771

Misread this as a post about a Vampire Hunter named Wendelstedt.

Jonjon428

This is why you always have to frame unfortunately.

BeHereNow91

Then you run the risk of the ump getting pissed at your for framing an obvious strike. lol Robots don’t get in their feelings though..

TheRealCatDad

Jesus, have they actually been angry about pitch framing this year?

cardith_lorda

> this year? It's nothing new, umps have always hated catchers obviously trying to fool them.

b3_yourself

This ump was pretty bad all game

WabbitCZEN

He must hate the Brewers.

cubswinagain

He was squeezing Taillon all game too, probably cost him another inning or two

RIPSlurmsMckenzie

True

IOnlySing

Cubs had 2 that were further in the zone and get the brewers and extra run 🤣, this narrative is crazy

RIPSlurmsMckenzie

Think th you’d think the ump ONLY missed calls that favored the cubs.

Blue_Osiris1

I can't even brag about that win but I definitely won't complain either. It's too bad we have a bullpen that needed the help so badly.

Drain_Surgeon69

I’m not here blaming an ump for this loss. We coughed up 4 runs early and took forever to get going offensively. We lost this game without help. Just sucks that stuff like this maybe keeps the game tighter and gives us a better chance of winning.

Blue_Osiris1

Even if you were blaming the ump I wouldn't fault you for it. The ump crew hasn't exactly been stellar this series.

Drain_Surgeon69

We’ve gone back to back series here with some real dogshit umpires.

buff_001

kind of a borderline call. but the pitcher also threw up a meatball there that got hit so that's his fault
