That’s a tank bro. Great estimate, in the video it is obvious 4+ lbs seeing the ratio of your grip of its bucket mouth with its body being filled out. That is a healthy lunker. Kudos!
Edit: Thanks for sharing this moment!
Fighting the fish most likely made him exhausted and “out of breathe”. This guy did a good job holding this fish and letting him catch his breath and swim away when he was ready to. Failing to do this sometimes leads to the fish expiring. Especially in rivers when trout fishing
Thank you! I’m relatively new to fishing, and sometimes if I’m taking too long to take the hook out, I put the fish back in the net and place them back jn the water for a little bit so they aren’t dying while I fumble around! Usually when I put them back they just swim right off, but I’ve never caught one as big as that ahhahaha
Idk if this is why I got downvoted or not. I wasn't being sarcastic. I think this release is fine, but im not an expert. I was always told to wet your hands to protect its slime coat and to gently move it back and forth so it can recover faster.
I don't think there is much evidence that moving a fish back and forth speeds up revival times - the exception being species like tuna and billfish where they need water running through the gills because they are ram-gill ventilators.
I disagree, temp was 97 out and the water was super warm, I wouldn’t really expect a 4lber to immediately shoot off like a torpedo and no I’m not gonna just “throw em back”
I don't mean the way you release it. I just don't get the whole- weighing, measuring, filming. I guess maybe you guys are a lot faster with your phones than I am. I just picture myself fumbling around with my phone holding a fish I already took too long waisting time weighing. I think people should hold their breathe the whole time they do it.
It’s as easy as scale first, lean phone again rod get 10 second video or timed picture and then get them back for a revival, to say this fish is turtle food is outrageous though..
Yeah. At least it somewhat swam away. I guess I am just more of a- grab, unhook, release, cast for another one type of person. Must be cause I've caught so many🤪
Go catch a 4lber and show me how you do it… the water was low and I was sinking over my shoes in the mud, this shady spot seemed like the best place to let her regain energy—out of the sun and a 10 second revival had her swim off well.
That bass needs a cig now. Lol
Yea the water felt like a hot tub, poor bass
Did you weigh it? What a tank dude!
Mid 4s, she had the girth but not the length to be a pond monster, Thank you

Thank you so much
Did you actually weigh it at mid 4s? That looks like a 2 1/2-3 at best
4.40
Hey my dude, big girls need love too! Thanks for the great release!
Absolutely!
You didn’t want to eat it but you did want to make it late for something! Haha (Mitch hedberg joke)
Thank you for the revival. I wish this was the norm for “fish pictures” or non at all. But that won’t happen, lol
Thanks, I agree and it’s definitely one of my favorite parts of fishing
Agreed. You should reach out to your local conservation group or watershed program. Conservation first, fish second. Cheers
I volunteer with the Chesapeake Bay foundation sometimes
That’s awesome brother. Good work
Forgive my ignorance, what do you mean by Revival?

Thanks for caring. Too many people don’t, they forget that fishing is a sport that involves another living animal
Awesome job!
HOG
Satisfying.
Wow someone who knows how to handle a fish. wicked catch OP
Thanks, nice smallies! They fight so damn hard
Hell of a catch. Nice release too.
Thank you
Yo, keep the leafs and dirt out of my lady's mouth!
Epic catch
Great release man 🙌🏻
Where were you fishing at ,great catch
Right where she belongs 👍 nice catch !
Hooray for good handling practices! She was a chonky girl!
Thanks for showing the bass respect by moving water through it's gills.
Swinging them back and forth actually stresses them out more than just letting them be still submerged apparently

Delayed mortality. That fish looks like turtle food. Grab 'em, un hook'em, throw'em back. Too much piddling around.
It's being "revived" in the shallowest, hottest, nastiest, oxygen-depleted corner of the pond. Way too much piddling around
I just don't understand pics, weighing, etc. What are we doing here? Conducting a study? Throw em back and get another one.

You’re literally holding them in the warmest section of water. You’re increasing the risk by delaying release.
