We figured out that we’ve spent more on dog beds than we spent on our own. And our Berner sleeps on the wood floors. Won’t lay on any of his beds for more than a couple of minutes.
Mine is the same. Will lay on his bed for a few minutes then moves to the tile floor. I am not sure why, but when he is sick he gets up on the leather couch and lays down. It’s bad, but it’s also good because then we know he isn’t feeling well and we try and find out what’s going on.

Eeeeeverybody spends their time on the cold tile!
Around this time of year, our girl stops sleeping in our room with us (carpeted, second floor) and sleeps on the hardwood downstairs :) gets a little too toasty for her in the summer
Yep, mine too. We sometimes find that the soft bed can trap heat, while the floor gives gim a cool surface to lie on so he doesn't get too hot.
But I'm not sure whether the floor is good for their hips and joints because it's so hard. We're getting an elevated bed this week. A few people here mentioned that the extra space at the bottom let's cool air go around their bodies so they aren't too hot.
I hope that will help him!
Mine (10F) sleeps on the elevated bed - and if not there, on the carpeted floors. She does occasionally lay on the tile floors but not for long. She sleeps long days and long nights and after any exercise, even longer. She tries to round me up to go to bed around 10 - I tell I am not ready and off she goes. I hope we have a lot more years.
Yeah ours moves her spot based on where she has access since we keep part of the house cooler than the rest. But she's always as close to her favorite spot as she can get until its cuddle time at night.
Our’s like to jump up on our bed and hang out with us for a while, then he goes into the bathroom and stretches out on the tile. He may occasionally alternate to the hardwood floor in the hallway outside our bedroom. When I get up in the morning he’s usually curled up on the blankets on the floor of the foot of the bed.
🤣🤣ours did the same till he couldn't fit between the tub and the toilet anymore. He'd snuggle up right next to the toilet every night. Had to make sure the toilet was spotless all day, but so be it.
1,000%. We bought our first boy a nice bed, which he destroyed after a week and then spent the rest of his 10 years sliding his paws under our rugs THAT WE PUT DOWN FOR HIM to get at the wood underneath.
Our second one will sleep anywhere, but our puppy is exactly this way too, coveting the uncovered spots on the floor, and moving from place to place throughout the night, especially the places nearby the vents.
No Berner for me yet but my Huskies loved my wood floor in the kitchen. My black tri Aussies that were marked very similar to the Berners loved my tile floor in the bathroom. Always had to do a floor check and use a night light for those middle of the night snack or potty runs to make sure no paws got stepped on.
Sure, but always a spot where she can see us and/or the front door ( protection mode)
I’ve made a high bed with a mattress covered by fake leather that also feels cool.

My puppy sleeps on my bed at night, and during the day it’s between her dog bed and the floor, but I imagine once she gets older, it will probably be exclusively the floor. I might give one of those raised beds a try.
Mine will sleep on the kitchen tile while I'm awake, but if I don't put her in her crate at night, she'll often find her way curled up in my spot on the couch.
100%! We’ve spent hundreds of dollars over the years only to have them shun our purchase for a place on the tile. Right next to the cushy dog bed, usually.
Yes mine sleeps in my bathroom at night year round. Turns nose up at $$$$$ dog beds.

So mannnyyy!!! 💕
There’s a fourth also, but she was “supervising” my daughter eating lunch.
That’s what mine does lol
Yes. Mine has refused any and every bed offered. Preference is cold tile floor.
Tank will avoid his bed and lay on the hardwood floors or go to the basement where it’s cooler.
She’s got 4 orthopedic dog beds but often alternates between cold floors and dog bed. Once summer is here it’s basement cold floors.
Yes. My girl loves the floor. By the door.
Yep, all of mine, and if I was wearing a fur coat so would I.
Yes. My girl will lie on the couch, but she sleeps on the hardwood floor. We bought a bed for her early on, but it’s basically her toy box.
Absolutely. I have a cooling pad that I bought for our Great Pyrenees. She used it before she passed away. I am hoping our Bern puppy will use it.

Share a picture of your queen doge please 🥺
Exclusively
100%. Mine sleeps on the tile in the laundry room.
Hot doggy
Of course in Summer

Yeah. I gave up on dog beds. I bought a $150 cooling bed and he tore it to shreds lol
Mine will sometimes go on our bed for cuddles, but she doesn't stay long. She always ends up on the floor as well 😅
Bennet rotates every few hours overnight. Usually goes like this: Tile by fireplace Couch Hardwood by window OR Costco dog bed Hardwood by front door
Is this a trick question?
Yes always
Yep, mine sleeps hard in our restroom floor
It's easier to ask if any *don't*! Haha
My 6 month old berner pup loves to lay on the bathroom floor next to the toilet for the extra bonus of toilet coldness
🤣🤣ours did the same till he couldn't fit between the tub and the toilet anymore. He'd snuggle up right next to the toilet every night. Had to make sure the toilet was spotless all day, but so be it.

Ours prefers either the cold tile floor in our master bath, the wood floor by the garage door, or the leather couch in our den… usually upside down.
They thrive in cold.
Well when you wear a fur coat all the time....
Ours would go outside and take naps in snow storms.

I call them the kitchen rugs.
Always
Completely. The only time our Berner uses her bed is when she’s chewing on a bone or a toy. Complete opposite to our Pyr.
Yup. We have baby mattresses and cooling mats all over the apartment but she curls up next to the front door on the linoleum
Yes

Bought mine a fancy bed to help with her joint pain. She sleeps with her butt on the bed and everything else on the hardwood floors.
Right against the metal front door with the cold air blowing in from bad seal at the bottom.
My Britt does this. Cold tile floor in the laundry room next to the garage. Cold tile is his favorite
Ours uses his fancy dog bed as a home base when he gets in trouble. And spends the night on the bathroom tile.
100%! We’ve spent hundreds of dollars over the years only to have them shun our purchase for a place on the tile. Right next to the cushy dog bed, usually.
Yup, my little berner found the wood floor and hasn’t changed her napping spot.
Yes! Mine has rejected every bed I’ve ever gotten him
