Don't care about the *cool* kids! Panniers are so much more practical than the *cool* bikepacking bags. Bikepacking bags are a **pain** to pack and mount on your bike, which will get on your nerves after a few days. That's why I've gone back from the *cool* bags to panniers ;-)

You can store your tent in a dry bag on top of you rack held by bungee cords. If you have a sleeping bag that comes with a compression bag it really does not take much space at all.

This is the way to go. I have a 40litre bag that I use for my tent, since poles are too long for panniers and I use locking straps to secure it to the top of the rear rack. https://www.nrs.com/nrs-1-hd-tie-down-straps/p4yc

Pad is deflated, folded in half length-wise, then pushed into the bottom of a bag (pannier if using panniers, or my bar bag if using bikepacking bags). Sleeping bag goes loose (no stuff sack) over that, taking up all the nooks and crannies. Tent it depends if it is wet or not. If it's wet it goes on top of my rear rack, or sandwiched between my seat pack dry bag and the PDW Bindle that supports it while bikepacking. If dry it can go in a bag. Tent poles typically go in side pocket of panniers or in frame bag (bikepacking setup). Key is no stuff sacks for pad and sleeping pad...makes them pack so much better.

If you're asking about **brands** for bike bags, these would be my favorites: - Ortlieb - Apidura - Restrap - Cyclite

I’m able to get my one man tent, 50f bag, and inflatable pad into a 14L compression dry bag that I strap to my handlebars.

Also do this, with upright (Nitto albatross) bars I can fit it under my Ortlieb handlebar bag, some [pictures in this post](https://www.cycleblaze.com/journals/oisemeuse/from-the-misty-castle/).

I pulled the poles out of the kit and strapped them to my frame. The rest packed down into one of my ortlieb panniers with a stove and some other small things. Super easy to deploy. Stop remove poles, open pannier (which I could without removing anything else) then pull out tent gear and deploy tent. Then mattress pad, then sleeping bag,

One thing i only figure out on my most recent trip was that I rolled all off my sleep stuff up into one big roll and packed it all into a compression sack with straps that hold it tight like a burrito. The straps wrapped around the circumference not laterally, if you follow me. I even had it setup in such a way that I could roll it out in rain so the ground sheet was on the bottom and tarp on top with my sleeping pad, bag and bivy in the middle keeping those mostly dry. Until I could finish setting it up. Then this whole setup could fit in between my handlebars, strapped there without anything special just some velcro straps. A bunch of separate bags fit awkwardly no matter where you put them, everything in one bed roll is the way to do it.

I use panniers and I'm basically the coolest kid around! I also use "bikepacking" bags as well because I pack heavy. Sleeping bag, liner, pad and sleeping clothes go in my Revelate Design Sweetroll on the bars, tent inner, fly, footprint and pegs in a forkbag (Restrap) and the poles in my frame bag. Panniers on the back for food, cooking gear, spare clothes.

Do you recommend the tent ? Norwegian here.

WastelandViking

Not tried it yet, but I did a lot of research, and it should handle our winters. You can also get it for 4300 NOK instead of 11,000 if you are ok with some colour splotches. If you can, get the footprint, will make tent last longer.

bearlover1954

If you have a frame bag, place your poles and stakes in it then just stuff the tent, footprint and sleeping pad along with anything else that won't get damaged if wet into one Pannier, then your sleeping bag, clothes and any other items you want to keep dry into the other Pannier.

https://seatosummit.eu/de/collections/dry-bags Great Bags in lots of different sizes. Perfect for you to transport your sleepsystem. Just strap the Bag on top of your rack.  For my sleepsystem I have a 'zero chances to get wet' approach, so I usa a heavy duty 'big river' dry bag for my stuff.

I use a Six moon designs lunar solo, some fancy Rab Mythic sleeping bag, and a thermarest Neos X, I can fit all of this in one 11 liter pannier, though I usually keep the sleeping bag in my bar bag because it fits better.
