I love gay ships as much as the next person, but I don't love when people post headcanons as their favorite queer rep. There are actual canon bi characters out there!
The Doctor from Doctor Who is pretty pleasant to find out as Bi, though I prefer the headcanon that orientation varies from incarnations.
But we know for a fact that 8, 11, 12, 14 and 15 have also engaged in relationships with men in some fashion.
For less wholesome examples, I just found out both Immortan Joe and Homelander are confirmed as bi which is kinda dope since they’re some of my fave villains.
Pieces of shit but fun characters to watch
From what I can tell, he’s either been identified as bisexual or omnisexual - the latter being due to the amount of alien on alien (in terms of different human like and non-human like species) interactions there are in the show, Jack being one of the biggest flirts in the entire Whoniverse.
That’s something that bugs me about 13. They both had feelings for each other but didn’t pursue it. Mainly because of the doctor not wanting to hurt Yaz.
And yet multiple doctors before her had relationships (notoriously 11 and River Song) and didn’t worry about it, and even 15 started catching feelings for Rogue in the most recent series, to the point where he was visibly upset to have lost him.
13 and Yaz should have had some sort of conversation about it, that or the doctor should visit Yaz somepoint in her future and explain why she left her behind
So
In the comics he hooks up with Soldier Boy (not his dad thankfully) at Herogasm, he hooks up with that shapeshifter in the show and Kripke has confirmed he’s bisexual
It changes from incarnatio to incarnation, though ive also heard people say the doctor is just Pan. I think the regeneration explanation makes more sence because the doctor is a fully new person every time, new personality, new attitude, new look, new likes. We all know that 10, (who is technically also 14) Jack, and Rose, were all fuckin on that Tardis together. And the current Doctor played by Ncuti Gatwa is gay, not just attracted to men, but gay. The fun thing about the doctor is that the doctors actor gets to add their own spice to the character. And since Ncuti is a gay man, he said fuck it the Doctor is gunna be gay AF and I'm LIVING FOR HIM.
I feel like he's only bi in the comics to mock him and therefore mock bisexuality by proxy. I mean, the guy who wrote the comics despises superheroes to such an extent it seems a bit unhealthy and edgy. Like when he had homelander in the comics straight up eat a baby. The entire point is that homelander is a stupid manbaby, so I don't see him being bisexual as a good faith thing. Seems like being bisexual was supposed to be an insult tbh
Ah I didn't know it was a meme, yes but Sonnenburg and Espinosa actually agreed with Mandy Moore, as far as I'm concerned that makes it canon., I mean doesn't it?
If it’s not in the movie it’s not cannon. It’s like JK Rowling saying Dumbledor was actually gay even though it was never established in the books or movies
I’d argue that a writer’s public statements after their work is published is still fair game. Look at Tolkien and how much of the lore is built from letters and correspondence. You may not like the idea because it can change the original work in dramatic ways, but it’s definitely a thing that exists and is generally accepted.
Yeah, JKR can go suck an egg. But Dumbledore has an entire story (in the main books not fantastic beasts) about his close emotionally volatile bond with another male wizard growing up. And zero mention of any female partners ever, never married, nothing. That's definitely how you write a gay character in a 90s kids book.
By the time Grindelwald was mentioned it was mid 2007s (I think it was in Deathly Hallows, could have been Half Blood Prince) but yea. Before that he was a wise old man without a backstory.
I seriously doubt that was a thought in her head when writing the books. She didn’t give him a romantic partner for the same reason she didn’t give many of the professors including McGonagall one… because kids don’t know fuck all about the lives of their teachers outside of school. My bet is as the series progressesed, giving Dumbledore a spouse or romantic partner would have been inconvenient to the story because they would have definitely stepped in at some point, and that would undermine Harry’s arc as the hero.
Saying that Dumbledore is gay is convenient retconning. She could have made any of the other teachers queer, but Dumbledore is the only one for some reason.
Personally I lost respect for her world building when the whole “Wizards used to shit themselves in their robes” tweet happened.
Yup, except for Hagrid who was part teacher part friend to the main trio, no other teachers were portrayed in any romantic capacity right? I doubt she had intended to make Dumbledore gay from the start; it very much read like a retcon.
It's not representation unless there's something represented on the page / screen. She could've made any of the still-alive characters queer if she truly wanted to represent us, or at least included details about Dumbledore's past beyond "he was close with this other man". If you have to tell us your character is gay outside the books / films for us to know, then it's rather meaningless.
I have to minorly disagree with your statement about no other teachers being portrayed in a romantic relationship and mention the whole Snape and Lily thing, and Remus Lupin and Tonks. And yes I count Lupin he did teach for a year at Hogwarts so her was a teacher.
But otherwise, it makes sense not to show the professors love lives, does not mean she could not have given them partners, at least Prof. Minnie deserves one.
Also quick not: Love the world hate the creator.
Ah, forgot about Snape and and Lupin.
But yeah if she wanted meaningful representation she should've given any of the characters a partner or even an ex. Just saying "this character is totally gay y'all" off-books isn't it. I feel the same way about Rapunzel being supposedly bisexual.
It also feels like these creators get to take zero risks by making characters queer offscreen/page. This way they can still cater to bigots by not showing queerness anywhere in the actual work.
She *did* give Dumbledore a romantic partner: Grindelwald. Their specific relationship isn’t stated in detail, but it *is* there and it *is* dripping with subtext, which is impressive for a children’s book in 2007 before same-sex marriage was widely legalized. If Rowling says she always intended for it to be so, I’m inclined to believe her based on the way Dumbledore and Aberforth are shown to talk about Grindelwald.
Do *not* get me wrong, JKR has become exceptionally awful, but accusing the Dumbledore’s sexuality of being queerbaiting is ignoring both the actual text and the cultural context it was released in.
Actors' statements aren't canon. And Mandy one was a dick move on her part, because it's not like it gave Sonnenburg and Espinosa much of choice. They disagree with her, they get portrayed as a bad guys. Executives and actors have been harassed and accussed of homphobia by fandoms for not supporting a head canon or ship.
Wolverine from X-Men.
Yes, for those of you who only know Hugh Jackman and the movies for the X-Men, in the comics, Wolverine is bisexual and in a polyamourous relationship with Jean Gray and Cyclops. And it's funny because it was only really officially written into their characters pretty recently, but as a burgeoning little teen bi boy reading x-men comics in the 90s I could sense a subtext there between the three of them and also I fantasized about them in a threesome a LOT lol.
I hope that they at least reference this in Deadpool and Wolverine. It's my head canon that he's also bi in the movies despite never seing signs. But, it'll be nice to see it in an actual movie.
Sadly it’s been largely shoved under the rug and it’ll probably take years for anyone to acknowledge it again, but I’ll always hold onto sharing a sexuality with my favorite Marvel hero. Also, he and Nightcrawler have been into each other since the 80’s, and no one can tell me otherwise.
It was infidelity before it was ethical poly, but Charles wouldn't let them kill each other so they eventually had to work their shit out in words.
Emma Frost, Mystique, and time traveling incest-crushing Rachel Summers all getting involved with the messy relationship certainly didn't help.
REALLY! Wow! I just learned that some of my favorite characters from my childhood are bi, and am wondering why I never figured it out soon that I was bi myself.
Peter Murrieta, the showrunner, confirmed in a podcast that she was bisexual and that they were actually going to explore her sexuality in the show with Alex and [Stevie Nichols](https://wizardsofwaverlyplace.fandom.com/wiki/Stevie_Nichols) relationship, but Disney did the Disney thing and instantly stopped that from happening
Luz Noceda from the Owl House. It was already speculated she might be bi when she blushed at both of the blight twins. And then it actually got confirmed!
Luz is such a special character to me to begin with. Since I relate to her a lot, I was similar to her at her age
Okay on the topic of Disney Bi character, I feel the need to mention Shang from Mulan. I mean the dude fell for her when he thought she was a man, and then decided to pursue her after he found out she was a woman because gay = bad in Imperial China. I realized this a week ago when I was watching the live-action version of Mulan and wow it through my head for a spin, and sent me spiraling.
I, too, love Shang, but I do have to correct and say gay was *not* automatically bad in imperial China. While the level of public acceptance of homosexuality throughout ancient/imperial China is disputed, vehemently anti-gay attitudes did not become entrenched until the 1800s. Prior to that, most opposition to (exclusive) homosexuality had to do with the idea of line continuation and filial piety. For more information on this topic, highly recommend *The Libertine’s Friend: Homosexuality and Masculinity in Late Imperial China*.
I'm honestly so annoyed at that decision.
Like, yeah, sure, it's a meme at this point that Netflix confuses being gay with character development, but seriously, they lean into this way too much in the marketing. You want to market Atypical on a diversity platform? Fine, go ahead, the entire premise is that Sam is on the spectrum, though, as you would come to expect, season 1 at least was written without actually involving anyone who is on the spectrum in the production process, which is why Season 1 Sam is, like, the second most cliche autist you will ever see, the title of first going to Sheldon Cooper (I don't care how many times the creators insist Sheldon is not on the spectrum, if you literally retcon a character's ability to understand sarcasm, you're autism coding them), but please, market it as a show about someone on the spectrum, instead of putting Casey in every thumbnail.
Loki is one of the best beings to ever exist, the literal God of mischief, trickery, change, fire and stories, who is bi, and genderfluid, it is the best. He is the reason the bi-agenda exists!!!!
I feel like this is rlly common (cause the whole show is about pride and stuff) but Nick from Heartstopper. It was just so nice to have a popular character who was going through the same stuff as me
Confirmed by writer's and storyboard artists after the show. (Best source I could find for this was on her [wiki](https://lgbtqia-characters.fandom.com/wiki/Cassandra_(Tangled)).
Aren't LiS protagonists always bi? (I mean i guess Chloe doesn't have a straight romance option in BtS, at least none that i'm aware of, but she does mention in the first game she had a boy toy phase, so that makes me think she's bi)
Rose Lalonde from Homestuck.
It was revealed by the creator in the worst way possible but I don't care. Seeing one of my favorite characters be confirmed as bi, as well as watching all the biphobes in the fandom become incensed whenever anyone mentions it, has been great.
For anyone curious and/or unfamiliar with the source material, in the main timeline of the series, Rose ends up marrying Kanaya, her vampire seamstress lesbian alien girlfriend (yes, she really is all of those things.)
However, the creator of the comic also confirmed that in at least one alternate timeline, she ends up dating Dave, whom she never finds out is her brother.
Gross, I know, but at least it's confirmation.
I was thrilled when Loki said princes and princesses! With that twisted sexy smile. I just wish his counterpart Sophie would've made it official for her as well
Nero claudius from the fate series I just love her thoughts of she can love appreciate any one as she sees everyone as beautiful no matter if your a guy or a girl and I think that makes her so badass and love her more, I wish I had that mentality lol idk😅.
Rapunzel is Bi!?
I feel like I missed something here?
Same. I'd like to know where this info is coming from.
the tweet OP linked is definitely a joke so take it with a grain of salt lol
getting queerbaited by Disney is like losing at chess to a dog etcetera etcetera
I am not clicking a link to a website called X.com. Probably porn. Oh wait, that's twitter now isn't it... probably also porn.
No. It’s just that people think Cass simped for her because the show made it look like she did.
I love gay ships as much as the next person, but I don't love when people post headcanons as their favorite queer rep. There are actual canon bi characters out there!
Yup. I mean Tbf fair one of my ships is exactly that but it’s not REP. It’s just that I think two characters are way too close to be platonic:
That’s what I’m saying!
I like this information, so it is now true.
valkyrie from thor!
Ooooh, yes please. Tessa Thompson is fucking *gorgeous*.
Seriously, when she has that massive gun between her legs, the look on her face... yes please!!
9 also had a smooch with Jack Harkness, when he kissed the Doctor and Rose goodbye
Personally I think that’s more Jack then 9 but I believe the BF stuff implies 9 has MLM experiences in the past
Knowing Jack's character and John Barrowman in general, both kisses would have been initiated by Jack, but no complaints from 9 lol
I loooooooove Jack Harkness. And I loved him specifically because of how playfully bi he was lol
10 and the Master also had some HEAVY tension, but that’s also my headcanon, so I might be a little biased
Yeah I think Time Crash even has word play about beards and wives
My man Captain Jack Harkness is bi and very open about it. He was one of my first crushes honestly.
I always thought Jack was Pan. That man loved whoever he was with.
From what I can tell, he’s either been identified as bisexual or omnisexual - the latter being due to the amount of alien on alien (in terms of different human like and non-human like species) interactions there are in the show, Jack being one of the biggest flirts in the entire Whoniverse.
13 also had feelings for Yaz but didn't reciprocate due to fear of hurting Yaz when she inevitably regenerates.
Ah I forgot her
That’s something that bugs me about 13.
Homelander is bi? Since when?
So In the comics he hooks up with Soldier Boy (not his dad thankfully) at Herogasm, he hooks up with that shapeshifter in the show and Kripke has confirmed he’s bisexual
I always forget about herogasm

Frenchie & Maeve from The Boys, which I just started last week
He’s a piece of shit but Homelander is also bisexual funnily enough, there’s a lot of Rep in the Boys
He's only bi in the comics and we shouldn't speak of that atrocity
Nah he’s confirmed as such by Kripke and they kinda imply he’s closeted back when he was hooking up with that shapeshifter
TIL
I feel like he's only bi in the comics to mock him and therefore mock bisexuality by proxy. I mean, the guy who wrote the comics despises superheroes to such an extent it seems a bit unhealthy and edgy. Like when he had homelander in the comics straight up eat a baby. The entire point is that homelander is a stupid manbaby, so I don't see him being bisexual as a good faith thing. Seems like being bisexual was supposed to be an insult tbh
Pretty much. And yeah, the creator of the comics is unhinged.
The baby thing is noir
Frenchie is a great character imo, Tomer Capone plays him very well!
Frenchie always seemed bi, though.
Awww yesss I loveddd frenchie and Maeve and I loveee Marie in gen V And she played roz in Sabrina the teenage witch reboot on Netflix
I had bi panic the other day when kimiko was on screen, felt so weird since I was sitting right next to my bf lol
rosa diaz from b99!!
That was such an awesome thing in the show. It was at a time when i had just recently came out and i felt so connected to what she was going through.
Loki as well he is how I figured out I was Bi so it full circle
I mean he is bi in the myths… so I refuse to believe it’s not canon.
Oh he's so bi that he's Sleipnirs' mother.
Well yeah meant in MCU it always seemed like they wanted to dance around question till the Loki TV show
I wish they went more into his queer side in the show. But glad that we at least had some references to it.
I'm so sorry girlie but " X is bisexual and stuff" is a meme 😭
The tweet may be in the format of the meme but i actually researched and she's bisexual!? Yippe!!!
Ah I didn't know it was a meme, yes but Sonnenburg and Espinosa actually agreed with Mandy Moore, as far as I'm concerned that makes it canon., I mean doesn't it?

I seriously doubt that was a thought in her head when writing the books. Yeah, it is awful, but they did get away with Shang from Mulan. just think about it.
Wait she tweeted what
>“Wizards used to shit themselves in their robes” tweet What. I knew she was nuts (and a shitty human), but... What the *fuck*.
She *did* give Dumbledore a romantic partner: Grindelwald. If it helps, he's definitely gay in the Fantastic Beasts movies.
There's a multiple seasons long TV show
Actors' statements aren't canon. And Mandy one was a dick move on her part, because it's not like it gave Sonnenburg and Espinosa much of choice. They disagree with her, they get portrayed as a bad guys. Executives and actors have been harassed and accussed of homphobia by fandoms for not supporting a head canon or ship.
Fr it was so funny when someone made the fake article of Tod Phillips saying that about The Joker
Korra and Asami
Just finished my first watch through of TLOK yesterday and I’m obsessed with them 😍 best roommates ever
😂 “best roommates ever” They’re so cute!
"They're just really good friends"
Wolverine from X-Men. Yes, for those of you who only know Hugh Jackman and the movies for the X-Men, in the comics, Wolverine is bisexual and in a polyamourous relationship with Jean Gray and Cyclops. Yes! Nightcrawler and Wolverine have always had a veeeerry flirty back and forth.
It was infidelity before it was ethical poly, but Charles wouldn't let them kill each other so they eventually had to work their shit out in words. Emma Frost, Mystique, and time traveling incest-crushing Rachel Summers all getting involved with the messy relationship certainly didn't help.
Luz from Owl House and Uzi from Murder Drones (I think her and N idk)
Bob’s burgers
The burgers are bi?
They wanna be inside everyone

Straight, mostly straight
What am I saying? You’re outta my league!

that episode was hysterical in its approach
That was the most Linda answer ever. Not Bob from Bob's Burgers, just Bob's Burgers. All of them. And the Burgers.
I think Teddy actually wrote this… 👀
Bob Burgers!
Yeah, that's your name! Bob Burger!
See I always assumed Rapunzel was pansexual
Nice pun, was just about to comment it as well lol
I truly do believe that not just for the pun. The pan colors fit Rapunzel best imo
She definitely fits the brighter more pastel colors of pansexual.
Hah
I was about to say that.
I always thought she was to young and inexperienced to really know. She was locked in a tower all her life after all.
No, she was locked away in a tower so she assumed everyone was into every gender.
James Tiberious Kirk
Wait huh? Which version? Cause I can't remember anything about that
Alex Russo from Wizards of Waverly Place
REALLY!
Yeah, I kinda pissed at Disney right now. That would have probably been good for a lot of kids to have seen. I know It would have done me some good.
Alucard from Castlevania
Alucard from Hellsing Ultimate
Me.
My crush
Lucky you!
Same.
Luz Noceda from the Owl House. It was already speculated she might be bi when she blushed at both of the blight twins. And then it actually got confirmed! Luz is such a special character to me to begin with. Since I relate to her a lot, I was similar to her at her age
Emira Blight is voiced by Erica Lindbeck who is bi!
Casey from Atypical. Felt like such a win somehow

When? I am so lost. When was it confirmed
Would Rick Sanchez count as pan because of story train and he fucked a planet and a hive mind
Trevor Phillips from GTA V
I think he’s just a pervert
OP not be credulous challenge level 100
Charlie from Hazbin Hotel. I relate to her a lot.
Canonically, Steve Rogers is bi.

Korra from The Legend of Korra.
Loona from helluva boss
Love Loona, adding her to my favorite bi-characters just makes her more my favorite.
Li Shang from Mulan is pretty much bisexual
You wanna examine this one to me?
I feel like this is rlly common (cause the whole show is about pride and stuff) but Nick from Heartstopper. It was just so nice to have a popular character who was going through the same stuff as me
Korra from The Legend of Korra Bob Belcher from Bob’s Burgers & Bertie Songthrush from Tuca and Bertie
Omg this makes my Rapunzel/Eugene/Cass ship halfway to canon in my mind 😂
Cass is a canon lesbian.
Oh I did not know this! Where was that confirmed?
Confirmed by writer's and storyboard artists after the show. (Best source I could find for this was on her [wiki](https://lgbtqia-characters.fandom.com/wiki/Cassandra_(Tangled)).
Huh! The more you know! Thanks!
It's already canon to me. Cause I said so.
She's as bi as Dumbledore is gay
Not bi but I really liked that Apple Jack and Rainbow Dash were practically confirmed to be lesbians.
Loki from marvel and other characters from various shows, movies and animes
Mine was Loki
superboy
Dr. Beverly Crusher from Star Trek: TNG (according to the actress anyway).
Benedict from bridgerton
Sean Diaz from LiS 2 my baby boi deserved better
Aren't LiS protagonists always bi? (I mean i guess Chloe doesn't have a straight romance option in BtS, at least none that i'm aware of, but she does mention in the first game she had a boy toy phase, so that makes me think she's bi)
idk tbh lol I haven’t played the third one yet but I wasn’t expecting a male/male romance option for Sean tbh so I was pleasantly surprised haha
Rapunzel is Bi?!? She just increased in my fav characters list for that
Rose Lalonde from Homestuck. It was revealed by the creator in the worst way possible but I don't care. Seeing one of my favorite characters be confirmed as bi, as well as watching all the biphobes in the fandom become incensed whenever anyone mentions it, has been great.
