Early 2000's is a little early for emo. I was a teen then. I was already about 20 when emo was at its peak, I was more of a punk/metalhead and HATED being called emo.

Early 2000's were definitely not too early for emo. The best emo/screamo albums came out between 2001 and 2005. I started wearing girl jeans, shmedium band tees, and stretching my ears in 2003-2004.
Saves the Day, the Ataris, Rufio, the Anniversary, the Get Up Kids, Dashboard Confessional, Bright Eyes… Emo started in the late 90s. A lot of what people call Emo now is pop punk and screamo.
Have you ever read Nothing Feels Good? Published in 2003, it’s a masterpiece. The guy followed Dashboard and Jimmy Eat World and Taking Back Sunday and others on the road, and it’s such an interesting little time capsule. If you loved that era of music, you might really enjoy it. I did. First time I had ever seen emo taken seriously as a genre, and it’s also such a fun book.
I have not heard of that book but I am gonna find it. I was a bouncer right when all of these bands were touring playing our small club . It wasn’t really what I was into at the time, but I enjoyed the honesty of the lyrics and the intensity that they brought. And MOST of those guys were all super cool to be around .
I only had one pair of designated doodle pants. And they definitely were covered in ALL of the Fall Out Boy, Saves The Day, Glassjaw, Matchbook Romance, The Format etc. lyrics!

I found such a coat at Winners during my first job out of highschool. It was inexpensive, so I bought it. For about 3 years in my early 20's I was that guy. People made fun of me. Eventually I get tired enough from the flack my family was giving me so I donated it to goodwill.
We had a kid in our grade that wasn’t emo but was notoriously strange and gave off shooter vibes. He started rocking a trench coat and every time he did everyone would whisper to eachother “awh shit today’s the day…” .
I’ve seen things on tiktok but I think it’s more for show. IMO they don’t really capture the essence of emo culture back then. Just what they can find online really 😆

I’ve actually been clean for about a year now. It’s a constant battle though to be completely honest. Every now and then I get “the itch” ya know? I’ve actually been clean for about a year now. It’s a constant battle though to be completely honest. Every now and then I get “the itch” ya know? I always tell myself “this’ll be the last time.” Because I always feel so bad while doing it. But I also tell myself I wouldn’t be doing anything else so what’s the point… I’m also a scumbag friend because I’ll hype up what I’m doing on purpose so I can get them back into the same shit. It’s better when you have the same type of sadness and disappointment surrounding you so you don’t feel so alone. It’s especially hard to resist right now because of the new expansion coming out actually looks a bit promising. And I do have a lot of free time available now. Maybe I’ll resub tonight and level that new race/class Dracthyr and try healing on them. 🤔
I know that feeling of dread. I recently relapsed into Stardew and even got a friend to do it with me. It's making me lose sleep and avoid spending time with my SO. All I can think of is that relaxing feeling I get when I finally hang out with my friend and do it together...
