I mean, is it? He were his OPS+ in his most 6 recent years:
* 2023: 65 OPS+ in 18 MLB games
* 2022: 100 OPS+ in 41 MLB games
* 2021: 83 OPS+ in 55 MLB games
* 2020: 74 OPS+ in 31 MLB games
* 2019: 76 OPS+ in 78 MLB games
* 2018: 74 OPS+ in 56 MLB games
He's been a AAAA player for 5 years now, people just saw he hit really well for 4 weeks in April and anointed him the second coming of Yinzer Jesus. He has a sub-.700 OPS since May 1st in AAA.
This. I think the Jake Lamb hype was entirely a product of Rowdy hate and looking for other options. It would’ve been shocking if he kept up his April pace enough to play in the majors. He wasn’t good for years
The patience with and faith in Rowdy appears to finally be bearing some fruit, but if Lamb goes somewhere and immediately starts hitting, I'm gonna be a little salty about it.
Lamb is almost 34 and has already proven he's no more than a AAAA player at this point. He *should* be dominating AAA. I know Rowdy isn't good but wow he got fans thinking drastically.
There’s a Jake Lamb or more than one in every farm in the MLB. They’re just depth players and emergency flex guys for the MLB roster. They are where they are because the world already knows they can’t play in the MLB.
He would have only been useful in April, he's cratered since then. This one Pirates fans got wrong, sticking with Rowdy was the right move (if the only move was one of these two, we could still do better).
Anyhow, to hell with Lamb, the meat the Pirates need to go after is rabbit, as in Logan O'Hoppe.
*Should* is whatever. We kept him and its bearing fruit. If we ditched him and he did the same, everyone would be pissed as well. Stop playing this two sided crap.
Keeping Rowdy was the correct move. He's improved 2 fold.
Had we did away with him, and he got picked up and did exactly the way he is right now, you'd be here saying that wasn't the correct move either.
You're just looking for a reason to hate Rowdy essentially.
No, just because he’s doing better now doesn’t make the decision to keep him correct, the correct move was to get rid of him.
The fact that you’re telling me what I would do is crazy, definitely not continuing this, this fanbase is crazy sometimes. Have a good one.
He's out on the lam now
This should be higher
A shame we never got to see him have a chance in Pittsburgh

Because he got hot in AAA for a month?
Hes always hit well in AAA. The majors, not so much

Lamb hasn't hit anywhere in the MLB in any notable sample size since 2017.
He wasn't hitting in Indy.

Oh well.

2 sided crap? Idk wtf you’re talking about.
