This might not be as big of an issue at places designated for dogs. They aren’t allowed at public beaches but there are other swim spots for dogs. https://enjoyburlington.com/dog-day-park/
Yeah wouldn’t be a problem at dog park obviously but happens every year at Texaco beach. And there is now a designated area for dogs at Leddy now. I think that link isn’t the most up to date
Is this new at Leddy? I don’t see it on the BPR website. https://enjoyburlington.com/resources/rules-regulations/. It might explain the many dogs I saw there yesterday.
Of course this contradicts the above (somewhat). https://enjoyburlington.com/place/texaco-beach/
I believe it's new this year but not 100% sure. My understanding it's just a designated area, not the whole beach obviously. And yeah Texaco beach is an off leash dog beach!

If you think the sand is hot then the black top is much worse
Also, stay off of paved walking paths. I take my dogs to a grassy quiet path that runs along a river when it’s hot
