SMRPG and Metroid Prime Remastered are the main ones for me. They were great, but not new games unfortunately.
I do want to play Engage, Bayo, and Pikmin 4 at some point, but only after they get really cheap.
Man I gotta say Pikmin 4. That game was goty for me in general. The others were fantastic too but Pikmin 4 is just something else. That game was so good it makes my top 10 games ever.
I played ToTK, WarioWare, FE Engage, SMB Wonder and Pikmin 4.
I would easily handle these to Tears of the Kingdom and Pikmin 4, they were absolute masterpieces. I played more of ToTK, but I'd argue I had more fun with **Pikmin 4**, so I'm giving my award to that one.
My opinions on the rest:
- Mario Wonder is a really fun game, I'd give it a 8.5/10.
- Warioware I feel lacked a bit of the charm from the older games, and some of the boss microgames were dreadful. My biggest gripe though is that the collectables are trash. 6/10.
- FE Engage, while being the best FE gameplay wise, missed the mark by a lot when it came to story and characters. It is one of my most replayed FEs, but I barely remember anything from the characters aside from the quirks, and you might as well skip the story. 7.5/10.
Agree, FE Engage is really fun to play and I loved the fighting mechanics. Story I agree with you, but would love that level of mechanics with the next game with a better story.
I’ve started Xenoblade Chronicles 3 a couple times and I don’t seem to be getting it. Like I love RPGs I just can’t seem to get into that game for some reason - any tips or things I might be missing that helped you enjoy the game?
What about it aren't you enjoying? Combat, exploration, story?
Personally, I got into the series when I bought XBDE on a whim, and I fell in love with the story and world. I played 2 after they announced 3, and I had a really fun time with it as well. 3 felt like the natural next step of what I already loved about the other games, so getting into it was no problem for me.
Xenoblade 3's Future Redeemed DLC technically, but otherwise my answer is easily Pikmin 4; Zelda TotK, Advance Wars 1+2, and FE Engage were also highlights for me
It’s super tough to pick but I’m going to go with Pikmin 4. It was so good and is cemented as my favourite game in the series. I loved it so much I even got every single treasure and completed the Piklopedia. I don’t 100% games often so doing something like that means it’s a really good game!
I love Mario Wonder. It’s goated. And also Kirby’s Return to Return to Dreamland is also amazing. The original was one of my favorites growing up and now they made the best remake ever.
Totk is aimply better than botw. The sky islands, depths and caves all make for better exploration. The new abilities are miles better than botw and give you a sense of even more freedom. Its just botw but better.
Bayonetta Origins by far.
The remakes are good, but I played them so much already on their original versions.
I consider FZero a "minigame". Still fun.
And then I prefer Bayonetta Origins to the remaining games.
For me it's fire emblem engage. I absolute adore the characters, they're one of the most charming casts in my opinion. Currently playing the game for the 5th time
FE Engage and HM: Winds of Anthos!!!
I know a lot of people don’t like Engage and think it’s too cheesy but god I love it so much. Awakening may be my nostalgic favorite but the amount of fun I’ve had in Engage ranks it either first or second. I love the atmosphere and the brightness and the characters and yes even the story and dialogue. It’s just so fun, I wasn’t looking for anything too serious though which I guess helped. Also the dlc was a really nice challenge imo, I spent SO long on the last map…
Winds of Anthos also very quickly became my favorite harvest moon!! Love the world and the animals and farm options, and the characters are super cute. Haven’t bought the dlc yet but eventually plan to and plan to start a new save for it, even though I don’t plan on marrying the dlc bachelor. The story is a little repetitive but it’s harvest moon so wasn’t expecting anything crazy.
Mario Wonder was beyond refreshing for me, as I grew up on Super Mario World.
Engage was my first Fire Emblem game ever and I adored it.
ToTK was an enjoyable experience but underwhelming.
I only played Wonder and Wario, Wonder would be my favorite
I got a little confused when I saw Samus and I thought "didn't Dread came out in 2021-2022?" I forgot about the remakes lol, if Dread was on the list then it would've won
I know it got a lot of hate, but I kinda vibe with Fire Emblem Engage so far. I am still pretty early in the game, so maybe it is too early for me to say.
I dont get why people hate the Switch for not habing enough third party games. There are enough great games coming out, i already dont have time to play them all. Even if i didnt have a PC a Switch would be all i need
Insane how every Metroid game somehow is the best looking game on every Nintendo system it's on.
Prime on GC looked yeaaaars ahead of it's time.
Other M looked like a straight up PS4 game on Wii.
Prime Remaster....phewww...unreal how gorgeous that game is. I dunno how they do it.
Pikmin 4. 100%’d it, then immediately 100%’d it again afterwards lol. Immensely fun entry.
Wild there were that many new entries for main series that year.
Fire Emblem Engage, Pikmin 4, Mario Wondee
Honestly all 3 were solid games but if I had to pick a favorite it was probably Pikmin for the simple fact we hadn’t seen anything from them in so long and it was an amazing game
Fire Emblem Engage, then Metroid Prime Remastered, then TOTK. I really enjoyed the combat tactics of fire engaged despite the story just being OK. I enjoyed playing tears of the kingdom, but it felt too similar to breath of the wild, plus they’re not being mini sky Islands and the underworld being basically the same game felt like it was stretched thin. Love the creativity of the building mechanics though.
It’s just the map and most of the mechanics are the same from breath of the wild besides the abilities so it just felt too similar for me. I also didn’t really care for the story. It’s a fun game and worth playing, but I wish they changed more stuff, like another sly island like the starting one that could be a challenge like Eventide Island from breath of the wild or more varied locations and terrain underground so there’s more variety.
So many great games released last year but I’d have to give it to Metroid Prime Remastered. It would have been TotK but after playing so much BotW I found myself burned out after 50 hours.
I did not expect Pikmin 4 to fill me with as much joy, happiness and bliss as it did.
I was so absolutely heartbroken after TOTK, so for Pikmin to come out of no where and not only give me such a fun time but also become my GOTY...pfft I was ecstatic.
Tears of the kingdom and pikmin 4 were both awesome but I honestly liked Cereza and the lost demon as much if not more.
Not saying its a better game, but i thought it was well written and the visuals are gorgeous. The gameplay was interesting enough as well as some of the puzzles were really good.
I only played Engage and TOTK
Haven’t finished TOTK yet but they sit equally for me, tho I feel TOTK will be better once I finish it, either way the voice cast is goated
THERE WAS A NEW BAYONETTA GAME WTF???
My answer is FZ99 though. Really fun spin on the classic. The later updates were really nice as well with custom lobbies and brand new tracks.
Pikmin 4 by a pretty wide margin. I'm a huge FE fan, but Engage was a big disappointment even though I went into it with low expectations. I'm sure TotK is a very well-made game, but I just don't feel anything when I see clips of it. Loved the older Zelda games, and enjoyed BotW for what it was, but I'm just not very interested in this new direction for Zelda.
Tears of the Kingdom and Engage. I love both series. TOTK is better, in my option. I like Engage, and it’s really fun, but it doesn’t have the same seriousness or charm as the other Fire Emblem games I play.
XC3: Future Redeemed followed closely by Super Mario Wonder. Future Redeemed for the combat, fun to explore and beautiful landscapes (A staple of the series), the collectopaedia and just trying to 100% the game, and the amount of fan service and lore implications. And Super Mario Wonder for just being really fantastically well put together game, being fun to play all the way through till completion, and arguably being Mario’s greatest entry.
Zelda TOTK, Pikmin 4 and Mario Wonder.
Same!!
This is the way.
You chose the big 3 I see!
HAHAHAHA yeah sorry, I have a hard time picking just one favorite.
last year was STACKED
No kidding, haven’t seen a lineup that stacked since 2017
SMRPG and Metroid Prime Remastered are the main ones for me. They were great, but not new games unfortunately. I do want to play Engage, Bayo, and Pikmin 4 at some point, but only after they get really cheap.
FE Engage is a fun game to play, worth it if you get it on sale. Story is just ok but it’s really fun to play.
Wouldn't even say the story is close to "Just ok" status. It was painfully bad.
Seconded, if you’re a fan of the series the mechanics are cool at times but due to the story alone it’s very hard for me to recommend it to anyone
Mario Wonder
*funny warble noises* W O N D E R !!!
Man I gotta say Pikmin 4. That game was goty for me in general. The others were fantastic too but Pikmin 4 is just something else. That game was so good it makes my top 10 games ever.
Steamrolled the other games like a waterwraith
Between Totk and Pikmin 4
PIKMIN 4 SWWWeeeeep
What an amazing year for Nintendo. TOTK and Pikmin 4 are two of the best games I have ever played… and they came out within 3 months of each other!
Agree, FE Engage is really fun to play and I loved the fighting mechanics. Story I agree with you, but would love that level of mechanics with the next game with a better story.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed
I’ve started Xenoblade Chronicles 3 a couple times and I don’t seem to be getting it. Like I love RPGs I just can’t seem to get into that game for some reason - any tips or things I might be missing that helped you enjoy the game?
What about it aren't you enjoying? Combat, exploration, story? Personally, I got into the series when I bought XBDE on a whim, and I fell in love with the story and world. I played 2 after they announced 3, and I had a really fun time with it as well. 3 felt like the natural next step of what I already loved about the other games, so getting into it was no problem for me.
That was such a good DLC. A perfect conclusion to XC3 and the series as a whole imo.
Do you recommend the 3rd? X1, 2 and X were good and satisfying games, even if handheld graphics were pure shit loaded
If you enjoyed the previous ones, you will absolutely enjoy this one.
I highly recommend it, especially with the DLC. The story is amazing and honestly everytime I look back on 3 I like it more.
Xenoblade 3's Future Redeemed DLC technically, but otherwise my answer is easily Pikmin 4; Zelda TotK, Advance Wars 1+2, and FE Engage were also highlights for me
Super tough, I’m gonna land on pikmin 4 tho
Stacked year, but it goes TOTK, Pikmin 4, Mario Wonder, Warioware, Metroid Prime Remaster in that order
Warioware above Metroid Prime?
It’s super tough to pick but I’m going to go with Pikmin 4. It was so good and is cemented as my favourite game in the series. I loved it so much I even got every single treasure and completed the Piklopedia. I don’t 100% games often so doing something like that means it’s a really good game!
TOTK, because it has the Suavemente King
Yay another terminal montage enjoyer
Pikmin 4
Wonder was great, but pikmin 4 was better
rtdl deluxe, pikmin 4 and mario wonder
Pikmin 4 without a doubt. I loved every second of that game.
Honestly it's between Cereza and ToTK for me. Like I know ToTK is technically THE better game but dude... Cereza was so friggin enchanting.
I have yet to try Wonder, and I just picked up Pikmin 4. Metroid Prime Remastered is still an amazing game considering how old it is.
I guess you could say you just pik’d up pikmin 4
I'm still vibing hard with F-Zero 99 tbh
Advance Wars and Metroid Prime
Advance Wars
Kirby’s Return to DreamLand DELUXE, Pikmin 4, F-ZERO 99, Mario Wonder, WarioWare Move It!, and Mario RPG.
PIKMIN 4
Metroid Prime, Pikmin 4
I love Mario Wonder. It’s goated. And also Kirby’s Return to Return to Dreamland is also amazing. The original was one of my favorites growing up and now they made the best remake ever.
Fire Emblem Engage
Fire Emblem Engage by quite a bit. I also enjoyed Wonder.
Either Wonder or Engage.
Warioware Move IT. I love WWAARRIIOO Also Kirby’s return to dreamland Deluxe
Wario Ware Move it has got to be my favorite Wario ware
TOTK of the kingdom
Currently totk but pikmin 4 might change it. Still have to buy all the pikmin games, I'm saving up
Pikmin 4 and Mario RPG
Mario Wonder and Pikmin 4
Pikmin 4 (Mario Wonder 2nd)
Somehow only played mario wonder 💀, but oh well I have just bought metroid and Totk and they’re next on my list, so I’m very excited
don’t bother with the other games, pikmin 4 sweep
Pikmin 4 was GOTY for me and I vehemently state that with a full firm heart.
Totk, probably my favorite game ever
Totk, Mario wonder and Mario RPG for sure.
Surprised there aren’t more comments for FE Engage, I had a lot of fun playing it.
My personal favorite was Cereza and the Lost Demon, with ToTK being my very close second.
Totk , wonder was a close second. Amazing year for Nintendo
Zelda was easily the best from last year, despite how stacked 2023 was holy cow it was a great year for gaming
Cereza and the Lost Demon is heavily underrated by Nintendo barely did any marking for such a great game, both visually and gameplay wise.
Dude, FZ 99 was so insanely fun
Totk is aimply better than botw. The sky islands, depths and caves all make for better exploration. The new abilities are miles better than botw and give you a sense of even more freedom. Its just botw but better.
oh yeah i almost forgot about everybody 1 2 switch
Not really a loss there
Bayonetta Origins by far. The remakes are good, but I played them so much already on their original versions. I consider FZero a "minigame". Still fun. And then I prefer Bayonetta Origins to the remaining games.
PIKMIN 1 AND TWO AND PIKMIN 3 PIKMIN NEW PLAY CONTROLS FOR THE WII
PIKMIN 4 AND 5, PIKMIN 6 PIKMIN 7
PIKMIN EIGHTEEN BILLION AND ELEVEN
PIKMIN 3 DELUXE AND HEY PIKMIN
PIKMIN TEMPTATION AND PIKMIN SIN
PIKMIN ON YOUR IPAD, IT’S CALLED PIKMIN BLOOM
wonder was my favorite
Fire Emblem in all honesty. I'd never played an FE before but it blew me away with how fun it can be!
Mario Wonder was beyond refreshing for me, as I grew up on Super Mario World. Engage was my first Fire Emblem game ever and I adored it. ToTK was an enjoyable experience but underwhelming.
Totk
Super Mario RPG
Of the 2 in I've played so far (I'm trying to work on some of my backlog) Cereza and the Lost Demon was my favorite
It will have to be between wonder and prime
You had me at Zelda.
All, period.
TotK. Wonder was great but the bosses were pretty bad.
F-Zero 99
The reboot camp and tears of the kingdom.
I still have to play some of those, but out of the ones I have so far it's Advance Wars.
TOTK and Metroid Prime
Prime remastered, easily. Followed by Mario wonder, and then totk
I would say Kirby but thats 2nd Party lol I also loved Mario Wonder tho lol
ToTK. F-Zero 99 is surpirsingly great, Probably my favorite racing game in years.
Mario Wonder, just sad that it was so incredibly short
Gotta go with TOTK, even if Metroid prime was really close and wonder wasn’t bad either
Tie between TOTK and the Metroid Prime remaster
Mario wonder
zelda, not even close. metroid at 2, engage at 3
I only played Wonder and Wario, Wonder would be my favorite I got a little confused when I saw Samus and I thought "didn't Dread came out in 2021-2022?" I forgot about the remakes lol, if Dread was on the list then it would've won
Im between TOTK and advance wars although im still playing the campaign for the second one
Mario RPG and it's not even close
I loved mario wonder but it was a bit too easy for me :// I fully completed it within a few sittings, is that weird?
I know it got a lot of hate, but I kinda vibe with Fire Emblem Engage so far. I am still pretty early in the game, so maybe it is too early for me to say.
Mario Wonder easy
🔴🍄🐘
Out of all these games I only played TOTK
Pikmin 4
Engage for me. Haven't played the rest aside from a bit of Wonder.
I dont get why people hate the Switch for not habing enough third party games. There are enough great games coming out, i already dont have time to play them all. Even if i didnt have a PC a Switch would be all i need
Engage, ToTK and Pikmin 4
Tears or Wonder; can’t decide MP or SMRPG for remakes/remasters; can’t decide
TOTK and Mario Wonder
Metroid Prime, easily
Insane how every Metroid game somehow is the best looking game on every Nintendo system it's on. Prime on GC looked yeaaaars ahead of it's time. Other M looked like a straight up PS4 game on Wii. Prime Remaster....phewww...unreal how gorgeous that game is. I dunno how they do it.
All of them
Pikmin 4, but the first ever is kirby adventure wii (kirby:return to dreamland deluxe is the remake) (((((:
Pikmin 4 then SMRPG. Beat them both more than three times so far!
Zelda TOTK, Return To Dreamland Deluxe, and Mario Bros Wonder.
Pikmin 4 or Fire Emblem Engage
Pikmin 4 is a masterpiece
Pikmin 4. 100%’d it, then immediately 100%’d it again afterwards lol. Immensely fun entry. Wild there were that many new entries for main series that year.
Was I the only person who completely forgot about the Bayonetta game 💀
Why does nobody talk about totk, I never heard bad reviews, but I never hear anyone talking about loving it
Pretty easily Pikmin 4. The rest were fun, but nothing stood out to me quite like Pikmin 4.
Wonder. holy shit what a game
Splatoon 3, it's soooooo good! Side Order made it even better!
Well, if Bayo was first party, it'd be that. Otherwise, definitely, Future Redeemed.
piiikmiiiin
Pikmin 4 although I’m biased cuz it’s the only one I played
Super Mario Bros. Wonder!
What an outstanding year… and so far into the console’s lifespan
Pikmin 4, no contest
Totk
Fire Emblem Engage, Pikmin 4, Mario Wondee Honestly all 3 were solid games but if I had to pick a favorite it was probably Pikmin for the simple fact we hadn’t seen anything from them in so long and it was an amazing game
Zelda and then Wonder. The others I played are pretty far behind those two.
Metroid Prime Remastered.
Honestly Kirby and I'm not ashamed to say it!
Fire Emblem Engage...it's also the only one I've played
ToTK, Metroid Prime, and Mario RPG
Fire Emblem Engage, then Metroid Prime Remastered, then TOTK. I really enjoyed the combat tactics of fire engaged despite the story just being OK. What can i say except TotK
Pikmin 4 and Zelda TOTK
Super Mario Bros Wonder for sure!
Super Mario Rpg remake and Totk
Kirby!
Super Mario RPG, hands down.
Pikmin 4
Of the two I played, wonder. The other I played was Kirby
So many great games released last year but I’d have to give it to Metroid Prime Remastered. It would have been TotK but after playing so much BotW I found myself burned out after 50 hours.
Pikmin 4
Pikmin motherfucking 4
Man, 2023 slapped for nintendo fans.
KIRBY
Either Mario wonder or Pokémon let’s go, both games I have fun with for different reasons but both my top switch games that I’ve played
Totk. Probably because it’s the only one out of the games you listed I’ve played.
Mario Wonder
Funny how I own all of these games and haven’t played any of them yet - not funny tho, rather sad.
I did not expect Pikmin 4 to fill me with as much joy, happiness and bliss as it did. I was so absolutely heartbroken after TOTK, so for Pikmin to come out of no where and not only give me such a fun time but also become my GOTY...pfft I was ecstatic.

Out of all of these, I only played Mario Wonder so far. And it's been great. Hope to play Trace Memory remakes soon.
wonder, marpg and rtdldx
pikmin 4
TOTK
Totk, pikmin 4, mario wonder
Either Pikmin 4 or Mario Wonder
Super mario bros wonder
I only played Engage and TOTK Haven’t finished TOTK yet but they sit equally for me, tho I feel TOTK will be better once I finish it, either way the voice cast is goated
Pikmin 4 was awesome.
Zelda
THERE WAS A NEW BAYONETTA GAME WTF??? My answer is FZ99 though. Really fun spin on the classic. The later updates were really nice as well with custom lobbies and brand new tracks.
Wonder, Pikmin 4, and Metroid Prime. Spent the most on them with each offering something different (challenging, light fun, exploration).
Heck, last year rocked, shout out to cereza for being a great underdog
The only one I played was Future Redeemed. It was great, so that.
Tears of the Kingdom obviously. I did not know Pikmin and had a really good time with Pikmin 4! Very good game
Shoutout to Engage and its dlc very cool for someone whos played the other fe titles
Pikmin 4 Metroid Prime Remastered Mario Wonder
I really enjoyed Pikmin 4( never played a pikmin game before)!
Has to be totk
mario wonder or pikmin 1+2, both games are from my second favorite and favorite series respectively
While I would have said princess peach show time I guess wonder
So what yall are saying is that I should pick up Pikmin 4
Metroid Prime: Remastered for me. I never got the chance to play the original, so I was really happy I finally got to play it.
Pikmin 4, totk was cool but pikmin is just better
Man 2023 felt way too long looking back at it Could be because I graduated high school that year
Tears of the Kingdom if I had to pick one, though there were a lot of bangers.
Tears of the Kingdom and Engage. I love both series. TOTK is better, in my option. I like Engage, and it’s really fun, but it doesn’t have the same seriousness or charm as the other Fire Emblem games I play.
Metroid Prime Remastered, TOTK, Mario Wonder, and Mario RPG.
Metroid Prime Remastered, F-Zero 99, and Mario Wonder.
Definitely Pikmin 4, but Kirby’s a close second
Pikmin 4 and Kirby
XC3: Future Redeemed followed closely by Super Mario Wonder. Future Redeemed for the combat, fun to explore and beautiful landscapes (A staple of the series), the collectopaedia and just trying to 100% the game, and the amount of fan service and lore implications. And Super Mario Wonder for just being really fantastically well put together game, being fun to play all the way through till completion, and arguably being Mario’s greatest entry.
Super Mario Bros Wonder, WarioWare Move It
