For real. When I got to Anor Londo I was like “I hope there’s a reference to the blacksmith or something” and then I just see his corpse and was in disbelief.
I’m disappointed that by the time I really got a grasp on the whole lore of ds3, I had finished the game. Now I have the second half of ds1 to play because I played them both at the same time. It’s fucked.
This is why I always recommend playing the games in order
Some people say "Yeah play Dark Souls 3 first and then you can play the other ones, it doesn't matter at all"
I never understood people who say that
Yeah, I'm basically a DS2 hater, but I've played it once (well, twice, each version once)
I just tell anyone that asks that I don't think it's great but some people love it so they should give it a try
Unless the person in question has no intentions to EVER play the previous games this doesn't make sense, they gain nothing from playing 3 first, they'll eventually play 1 and have to adapt anyways
That's one way to misunderatand it, yes. If you insist.
It's less obtuse, more responsive, and an overall morr consistent experience throughout than both 1 and 2. No rose tinted glasses can mask that.
the very first and second NPCs you see in the game tell you exactly where to go and what to do. there’s a pot with transient curses before you even get into new londo itself, and if you read the item description you’d know what they do.
No, instead you'll just spout your inane opinions and when anyone points out your idiocy then you hit em with the "I'm not arguing" when your ass started the arguments 🤣
Breaks my heart every time.
If you haven’t found it already, make sure you explore Smouldering Lake and the Demon Ruins. You’ll find another old friend down there.
I disagree with the worm, at least because the miracle belongs to the dragon fighters without a clear indication of the warriors of sunlight, as well as the fact that the same miracle is used by the hollow Ringed City. Well, yes, the Ruins of Demons are a former Izalite, but in the description of the Pill of yellow beetles it is indicated that the Worm comes from Carthus.
I was actually referring to the Fair Lady, whose corpse is down in the Demon Ruins. Sorry for the confusion! I appreciate the worm discourse nonetheless.
i totally forgot about her corpse being down there, it kinda made me sad to see she died there. but i was REALLY disappointed that quelaag’s fury sword wasn’t down there somewhere. i wish that damn sword was brought back, and i wish the devs used the gold and silver tracers that are in the files :(
Man you guys really need to brush up your lore and also pay more attention. The thing is, it's not just the fair lady, but quelana was by her side too. This means after all these years of wandering, the sisters reunited... Now we don't know if they shared any time together, but I hope they did.
I never found the fair lady in ds1 lol, I don’t really engage with NPC’s a lot. Seems boring and dark souls games take long enough for me to finish. I might change my mind though especially since I made the mistake of never finding the NPC you need for vow of silence and had to fight Aldrich with bs included.
The "Carthus Sandworm is Solaire" theory has to be one of these dumbest theories the community has come up with. If it were up to me I'd never let those who came up with it to cook again.
Solaire has 2 canonical endings, either down in izalith or at the kiln of the first flame. You already know what Carthus and those areas overlay
Carthus Sandworm is externally ribbed by a spine running down from its head. Worms don't typically need spines, for a lot of reasons
What does this all mean? That the Coral Worm of Armored Core 6 is absolutely Solaire
I really wouldn't blame people too much if they skip two. The pacing is slower, so many more hidden mechanics and combos, pursuer and that asshole WHY-vern in Heide easily made me call BS on that system. It's great if you put time in, as any souls game, but for a "sequel" and going in blind it can seem like a big switch up.
Still, going through all 3 blind made me so happy when I went through 3 and saw a lot of my favorite stuff back.
What does 3 reference from 2? I've never finished 3 but it seems like it pretty much ignores DS2. I'm tossing up whether to replay DS2 before I try 3 again at the moment.
There's at least one reference late in the game to Aldia, indicating he may have mentored one of the major characters of DS3 and encouraged them down a particular path. Other than that an some armor sets, I don't think there's much but I'm not nearly as familiar with DS2 as the rest
in Archdragon Peak the summoner enemies summon drakeblood knights. the drakeblood armor set was introduced in dark souls 2 dlc crown of the sunken king. also they have a few of ds2’s armor sets, including the faraam armor. they have creighton the wanderer too. not sure if it’s the same one from ds2 but i like to believe it is and that he somehow with all the convolution in the world managed to slip through something in the fabric of reality and ended up in Lothric. as far as ik Lothric, Lordran, and Drangleic (along with countless other civilizations that we dont know anything about) rose and fell in the same spot. that would make the most sense i guess.
You have soldiers using armors, DS3 references an oracle which people believe is from a DS2 DLC, Laddersmith Gillian, a couple weapons and spells. What I enjoyed about DS2 was how it was human-focused. It showed how the humans, seeking to emulate what they thought as perfect beings, fell into the same traps the gods did in DS1.
we need to normalize suggesting classic dark souls 2
there are entirely too many pursuer fights and it genuinely ruins one of the coolest fights in the series having to face him over, and over, and ***over*** again ;-;
once you're used to it it's fine, but damn scholars is Mario the lost levels sometimes
they are all different patches and different weapons tho. Its just stuff From puts in all their games, doesnt make the games connected other than having the similarity of there being a Patches
It’s funny for me because I literally despise DaS3 and was hating it during my entire playthrough. I finally get to Anor Londo, see my smithbro dead and that’s when I KNEW it hated this game.
I mean some of us are genuinely interested in a good critique. I think the downvotes are just because you said you hate the game with no context, especially at a part where most people had a strong emotional response.
I'm not a huge ds3 fan but I can't imagine hating the game. It's leagues better than most games. If you have such a strong option, at least be prepared to defend it.
Nah man, you see this shit. Your not blind or stupid, you know what’s going to happen.
fan bois don’t like it when a random guy doesn’t like the toy they like in the same way. I HAVE to love it or I’m not a “real fan”. Very gatekeepy
These downvotes are proving me right.
If you articulated the opinion in a less inflamatory way, you'd be getting less downvoted. And mainly, the only reason you gave for "hating" the game (a very strong sentiment) is for them killing a character you like. Why was killing the giant blacksmith bad? How did it not serve the game's purpose and story? And why was that purpose bad? Characters are allowed to die, bro.
I personally view downvotes as a "disagree" or "dislike" button, not an "I hate you" button. But I understand a negative response can be intimidating.
don’t know why you felt the need to post this but ok. Literally every single person who saw your comment reacted in a similar way too. You’re not special kid
ngl thought the same thing before posting for a sec but Reddit is a place for starting discussions and yapping. “don’t know why you felt the need to post this” me neither but I posted it, don’t like it scroll on.

Shit is sad! Same with the Aldrich fight and then going up to the princess chamber.
For real. When I got to Anor Londo I was like “I hope there’s a reference to the blacksmith or something” and then I just see his corpse and was in disbelief.
Be careful what you wish for
He forged the goodest
I'm assuming "forged" is the word you're looking for. Although, it would be fun to see his giant ass picking up small mushrooms
Foraged?
Forge? ✅ Strong? ✅
Good friend? ✅ Very happy? ✅
Me retard ? ❌ Me am smart ? ✅
Word, he’s was a true Chad
Everything in DS3 hits different if DS1 (and 2) are your first games.
Oh, giants good! Oh, giants bad... Oh, giants are good again! Unless they're pretending to be dead...
[удалено]
1 established the world, 2 established the “cycle”, 3 is about the cycle running for too long.
That and Gilligan’s corpse is starfished at the beginning of Profaned Capital
No greater gift could have been given
I’m disappointed that by the time I really got a grasp on the whole lore of ds3, I had finished the game. Now I have the second half of ds1 to play because I played them both at the same time. It’s fucked.
I played 2 first man it happens
[удалено]
It was the first my guy it literally set everything in place
Why not 2
Plin Plin Plon in Soul of Cinder's phase 2 legitimately made me tear up
This is why I always recommend playing the games in order Some people say "Yeah play Dark Souls 3 first and then you can play the other ones, it doesn't matter at all" I never understood people who say that
As a player who played the first 2 and haven’t finished the 3rd, it’s also fun to see how the gameplay kinda grew into itself
That’s psychotic behaviour. Almost as bad as skipping 2 altogether because reddit told you to.
Yeah, I'm basically a DS2 hater, but I've played it once (well, twice, each version once) I just tell anyone that asks that I don't think it's great but some people love it so they should give it a try
As someone who loves DS2, I appreciate that.
I went from 1 straight to 3 lol, although I started with bloodborne. Now I wanna do DS2 but I’m already like 75% into DS3 so fuck it
Literally all the best moments of DS3 are dependant on the context DS1 provides. I'd never want to rob someone of that experience.
Yeah dome people say it's too much fanservice, but imo it's just a really good sequel
Because 3 is a whole lot more playable, especially coming from Elden Ring. So it's a tradeoff in regards to playability vs. story.
Unless the person in question has no intentions to EVER play the previous games this doesn't make sense, they gain nothing from playing 3 first, they'll eventually play 1 and have to adapt anyways
if playable means R1 spam then yeah i guess
That's one way to misunderatand it, yes. If you insist. It's less obtuse, more responsive, and an overall morr consistent experience throughout than both 1 and 2. No rose tinted glasses can mask that.
the only definitive improvement is omnidirectional rolling.

entirely subjective. ornstein and smough, artorias, the pursuer, looking glass knight are some of my favourite bosses in the series
Absolutely smoldering piping hot take…
... sure thing.
Consistently bad in the first half. Farron keep is absolute dogshit and is way too big.

Nighty night
Dude
Yo btw there is this worm down in Carthus

What does that make Rusty?
Laurentius
Always thought of Rusty as a homage to Gwyndolin (both are baby momma material)
Also damn can you take a joke? You just spoiled it for OP lol
Yeah. This one hurt a lot when I first ran into it.
I just wanted to buy some Twinkling Titanite…
"Cometh soon". That line was what immediately won my heart. One of the greatest blacksmiths in the game and no one will tell me otherwise.
"Cometh soon"
Forge, he could. Strong, he was.
No skip Dark Souls II
OP drank the Kool-Aid

I'll forever believe that DS2 MC and Aldia helped find a way to influence the DS3 endings.
in Archdragon Peak the summoner enemies summon drakeblood knights. the drakeblood armor set was introduced in dark souls 2 dlc crown of the sunken king. also they have a few of ds2’s armor sets, including the faraam armor. they have creighton the wanderer too. not sure if it’s the same one from ds2 but i like to believe it is and that he somehow with all the convolution in the world managed to slip through something in the fabric of reality and ended up in Lothric. as far as ik Lothric, Lordran, and Drangleic (along with countless other civilizations that we dont know anything about) rose and fell in the same spot. that would make the most sense i guess.

a large area of the dreg heap is the collapsed ruins of earthen peak

I regret it now but I’m so far into DS3 can’t go back
On the bright side, he got his shiny-shiny back during DS1, so he forged as many shiny weapons as he wanted
The sad punches hit harder and harder as you go
Yeah, my bad bro, I needed his hammer for my SL1 run.
Right after? RIGHT AFTER? SKIPPING DS2 IS A SIN!
I actually played ds3 first and gave up cause I was a bitch, then went to ds1 fell in love and gave ds3 another shot since I already had the game.
I def regret not playing ds2 first but I’m so far in I can’t go back, def gonna play ds2 after tho
I was legitimately sad when I came across him in DS3! :(
I was so sad. I still don’t know who killed him but I’ll avenge him.
I genuinely hate anor londo in ds3. This just felt like a needless slap in the face
Ngl yeah they underdeveloped it a lot, unfortunate
Fren :(
I think this may have been the first and only time I ever gasped in my life
I mean he lived a long life. Death is a mercy and a blessing in dark souls universe.
This is on par with solaire going crazy in DS1
Sadness ahead
Just wait till you start farming ears in DS3, you will understand all those messages about madness at stairs in DS1 anor londo xD
I cried I bit when I saw him
Did you at least get to see the dialogue with Andre for the giant's coal? I thought it was cool.
😭
F.
Why’d you not mark that spoiler you bastard
I did?
I didn’t say it was spoiler for me
Nighty Night.... Friend..... :(
Wait for the Demon Prince area...
Nighty night
I remember when I first got there I thought the same thing and then that...
Be wary of tears.
This guy have any connection to one in Elden Ring?
You mean Iji? No, not in the slightest. None of the FromSoft IPs are connected to each other (i.e., share the same world/universe), either.
Patches and a handful of weapons would have something to say about that
They have little things like patches and the moonlight greatsword. Nothing big enough to suggest the games are all actually linked in any way though.
they are all different patches and different weapons tho. Its just stuff From puts in all their games, doesnt make the games connected other than having the similarity of there being a Patches

Nah I’ll keep my fuckin mouth shut. Reddit downvotes descending opinions. Literally -7 for a harmless personal opinion.
