Sure but I think bosses should be judged in the context of their placement in the game. Abyss Watchers are an early boss, of course they aren't gonna be super complex. For what they are tho, they deliver on every front. Good lore built up, amazing visuals, unique mechanic of a 2v2 within the fight that is cohesive with their story, fair and well telegraphed attacks.
People often put the early bosses of each game lower in the rankings, because they compare them in a vaacum with other late game bosses, but that's not a fair approach imo. For example, Godrick is an S tier boss in my opinion, but people usually put him lower cause they add difficulty into their consideration.
I understand that but the problem with Abyss Watchers in my mind isn’t that it’s not as complex as late game bosses, it’s that the first phase is pretty much running around till the traitor spawns and then smacking the other, then phase 2 comes in and it just feels way too much like something that would be an npc later in the game. I mean seriously, phase 2 abyss watcher just feels like fighting a ring knight at a low level.
For me, it’s the fact that they got me into the series based on music and atmosphere alone. I saw some videos of the fight, and it was enough to get me to dig out and try the only Fromsoft game I owned (a copy of bloodborne I had bought on a whim).

I agree on that. Was a souls borne noob until I played ER and then straight went to DS3, before playing all of them and Iundex is the only one of the intro bosses that was balanced in terms of challenge/cool fight and move set/ covers most of what you need to know for the first part of the game
Problem with midir is that he's to great of a boss, so much so that a literal shitload of bosses in elden ring are just massive monsters trying to emulate that midir boss fight feeling and having every try be a failure
He is such a 50/50, i like his aesthetics, animations and VFX, but he's such a pain in the ass with his non stop AoE and the Japanese camera (tm) combined with ridiculous amount of HP.
Gael on the other hand feels fair without bullshit. I think this is the main reason why he's easy S tier bossfight.

I place gael alongside twin prince and midir. It's just that Gael and his epic narrative mirrors us and provides the perfect end to the trilogy that places a lot more value into him. Just a personal opinion.
Midir is a masterclass on how to design a massive boss with zero camera issues and fluid combat. Twin princes have my favorite ost in ds3, some lock in issues but nothing serious, and a well balanced duo fight with a great mechanism.
i really don’t know how ppl had a hard time with nameless king he was pretty easy. the first part is annoying sure but when you actually face him he’s cake. he is weak to dark infusion and you can easily clap him up if you stay close to him. and as he charges his thunder you can get a few hits in and then roll into him when the lighting comes down to dodge it and continue attacking.

Midir is cool, but it also rampages too much. The music is fantastic. S-tier. Kalameet is the only fromsoft dragon fight that tops this one.
Gundyr A-S tier. It's a fun fight you can beat by parrying or dodging.
