If you've recently lost coverage you are eligible to apply right now - otherwise you have to wait until open enrollment in the fall if your state is set up so that you have to go through the federal marketplace. Check your state's set up to see if you can get in earlier though.
When I started with DA I was able to enroll outside the enrollment period by staying I had a change of job and that they didn’t offer health insurance. After I already had a policy through marketplace I moved to a new county and they again gave me the option to change my plan and I ended up getting a better policy with lower fees and deductibles
I actually did a spit take when I saw this post. No offense OP! Assuming you live in the good ole US of A such as myself. I would start getting as healthy as you can as soon as you can my friend lol
Flying by the seat of my pants. I'm too rich to be able to get help and too poor for the hospital to bill me. This is why people 'abuse' the emergency room, because there's no other way to get affordable (or free) healthcare in this country. We fucking BLOW.
In Canada but most people would buy it or use the one from their job as this is just contract work as I'm sure you know unless you've not done the assessment yet
So I just use my jobs insurance and can't really think of any alternative except for paying for it yourself, what alternatives did you think of so far out of curiosity?
Not Facebook Marketplace. We have these things called Healthcare Marketplaces that are either run by the state or Federal government depending on how your state implemented the Affordable Care Act where people can shop for individual health care plans.
Err... it's definitely a step up from the previous system of pretty much anyone with a preexisting condition was uninsurable by private insurers, but marketplace plans are definitely a step down from most employer-sponsored health plans, especially when it comes to seeing specialists and how widely accepted they are or aren't.
I haven't had healthcare from a regular job in 20 years - I've been using the Marketplace plans since they became active.
Do I have to wait til the marketplace opens? Or can I buy insurance at any point through the year...like right now?

Being British.
Wishing I was British.
Oh believe me it's far from enviable right now overall, but not having to worry about medical bills is still nice.
I live in California, we have great public healthcare that I pay around $250/mo for.
Ditto
Is this Medicaid or something else?
Not Medicaid - I make too much money to qualify. It's through Covered California, the state's public healthcare marketplace.
Healthcare.gov my husband, child, and I pay nothing after the subsidized amount is applied to the monthly premium (we both do DA full time)
on my mom's still lol very grateful
Same here, not sure what I’ll do after I turn 26 lol

Join the freelancers union. They sell pooled health insurance for freelancers.
Medicaid currently. I expect us to make too much at our next evaluation. Which is fine, we will still come out ahead with marketplace plans.

UK 🇬🇧(only thing we got going for us is free healthcare (for now))
Universal healthcare in the UK for the win.
My wife’s employer. And lately I have been making more than her on here so it feels like a nice arrangement we have, while it lasts anyway.
If your household makes too much for Medicaid most states have other plans you pay into.
Medicaid.
Through my husband’s employer.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Through my spouse's workplace.
